Not as very very good as other vintage Duke teams. They're pretty mediocre defensively--part of the reason they're getting down 20 to teams like NC State in the first place. And I'm still paying verrrrrrrrrry close attention come NCAA time to the teams that might be slated to play them in the Sweet 16...who's the next Arizona (who will physically overwhelm them) or Nova (who can drive right by them). That being said, as in the Miami game when the Canes were up 14 at the half, I full expected Duke to close the margin. It helped a ton that Duke somewhat magically went from 4-21 from three to hitting from everywhere short of Wilmington, but they also went for the kill when NC State got into major foul trouble. They drove the lane at will in the final 10 minutes and NC State couldn't do much about it. And likewise...yeah, NC State played some really scared basketball down the stretch on the offensive end. That'll happen too--maybe they just weren't ready for prime time.

Don't disagree. This is not an all-time great Duke team. But these comebacks are incredibly impressive. At some point, the team will lose if they keep going down by 14-20 points in the second half. But you have to admire their chops to overcome these deficits against pretty stiff comp.
MSU is coming on. They blew the doors off Wisconsin last night.
Hoyas are right there with these teams potentially. Let's start taking care of business starting tomorrow. Stringing some wins together now against the next 3 is critical. 12-4 heading into the final two games will give us a great shot for a 2/3 seed in the BE Tourney.
Funny how these schedules work out, as we end with ND and Quette our comp for the 2/3 seed.

No. NC State is not that good and Duke is good, but FLHoya points out their problems. I can't see them getting past the 16, if they even make it to the second weekend.

Exactly...sometimes I think Ranch Dressing is a troll. If by "very good" you mean a Top 15 team in the country then, yes, Duke is "very good." But this team plays no defense and relies on streaky outside shooters to win. Not a recipe for success in the tournament. The ACC sucks, again, this year, so they will probably be given a cushy 2 seed and have a favorable path to the Elite 8 but I am not a believer.

I think that COY in order right now should be Boeheim, Peterson, Brey, and then JTIII. Still time for JTIII to move up into contention. Peterson? Waco?
