The more games Syracuse wins during the regular season, the more satisfying their flame-out in the tournaments will be. They basically locked the Big East conference title up with their win against us, so really who cares if they drop a game or two? Better for us if they can make our path to a double bye a little easier, and possibly their route to the BET championship all the more difficult by bumping Louisville down a few seeds. Syracuse losing that game wouldn't have really hurt them and would have made things more difficult for us. I'd rather watch Syracuse fan's start to feel invincible with only one regular season loss and then get exposed in the tournament and watch it all coming crashing down. See? Now this is an argument! I'll still never root for Syracuse ever, but sleepy has his eyes on the delicious schadenfreude prize here. In fact, you remind me of the father bull from that famous story. You know the one...father and son bull are looking down at a pasture full of cows. Son says, "Dad, let's run down there and $%&* one of those cows." Dad says, "No, son. Look...Eric Devendorf is already $%&*ing them all." Did not see this coming. Hilarious.

on another topic... Seton Hall looks good They're strange: won 4 BE games in a row in early January and got ranked, then lost 6 in a row, now they're back on 3 wins in a row. Wouldn't mind if they kept it going exactly one more game against Cincy this weekend, then reverted back.

#11 UNLV lost to TCU tonight.
Also Savannah St won on Monday they're a half game back from Norfolk St in the MEAC. Broadnax could have the tigers dancing in the NCAA or NIT in their first year in the conference.
Alabama lost to Flordia tonight

Is it just me, or has Seton Hall played about 65 Big East games this year? Every time I'm watching another college basketball game there seems to be a Hall score on the ESPN ticker.

I'm officially nervous about @seton Hall. Maybe more nervous than I am about the home game against Notre Dame.

I'm officially nervous about @seton Hall. Maybe more nervous than I am about the home game against Notre Dame. they played us tough in Newark last year. i'll be making the trip across the Hudson for it. any NYC area alums/fans should consider it...it's an easy ride on the PATH train from lower Manhattan.

3 BE games all on at the same time:
Nova @ USF Rutgers @ ND Depaul @ Uconn
So which do people think will be the most entertaining game?

Nova@ USF will probably be close but not entertaining because Nova will make it so. Rutgers @ ND will be all ND so nothing there Depaul @ Uconn will be two teams with players that don't try.
I'll pass tonight

It only seems like Mike Brey has won Coach of the Year about ten times, but is he in line for another one? He got 22 points and 18 rebounds tonight out of Jack Cooley. (Really.)
Stan Heath may be the choice, though. Bulls are now tied with Georgetown for the #4 seed, another reason why the Hoyas can't take PC for granted.

At what BE conf record can USF force the NCAA committee's hand and give them a tournament berth? Has 11-7 ever been denied? 12-6? Truth be told they could end up 9-9 because they have a brutal final stretch.

So, there have been a few disappointments over the past several years with the Hoyas, but the teams have always been competitive. I can't even imagine what this board would be like if the Hoyas had a season like 'Nova is having. Or Pitt, for that matter.

RPI 56 SOS 38 Kenpom 99 Record: 15-10 Conference 9-4 1-6 vs top 50 2-1 vs. 50-100 10-3 vs. 100-200 2-0 vs. 200+
USF certainly doesn't have the computer number of an NCAA team, but how much do you factor in the fact that most of their team wasn't eligible for the first 11 games of the season. Since then they're 10-5. Very back loaded schedule but looks like they need to get to at least 11-7 to have a chance. You have to give them credit for beating the teams they should beat. Every team they've lost to since getting their full roster has been in the top 36 of the RPI.

Meanwhile, an SMU team awaits the Big East and must decide what to do with an underperforming team and its coach, Matt Doherty, who needs to rally the home supporters after scoring just 39 points in a loss to Rice. This is not how you do it. "DALLAS (AP) -- Alabama-Birmingham held SMU to the lowest scoring output ever in a Conference USA game, defeating the Mustangs 47-28 Wednesday night...SMU (11-15, 2-9 Conference USA) made just 8 of 46 shots (17 percent) against the Blazers, including 3 of 29 3-point attempts.smumustangs.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/recaps/021512aaa.html

That would give you a pretty good idea of what it'd be like ...

At what BE conf record can USF force the NCAA committee's hand and give them a tournament berth? Has 11-7 ever been denied? 12-6? Truth be told they could end up 9-9 because they have a brutal final stretch. Judging by the way they played against us, they should really lose all 5 of their remaining games. Even their home games are against desperate teams - like Cincy and WVU. But, I hear you, even if they go 10-8, they finish in the top 6-7, right? Which means, they also have a winnable first round BET game. I dont see an 11-9 BE team not making the tourney. The BE is down this year, but who is going to take their spot, Alabama?

I'd love for USF to make the tournament. It would show that these teams can improve by coming to the BE and gives hope to the Houstons, SMUs, UCFs coming in. If USF can improve it's program and make the NCAAs so can those programs.
