He's had a really nice stretch of 4 or 5 games. Keep hitting the boards on both ends of the court and keep D-ing up fellas and good things will happen.

So JT3 says that GW's game reminds him off a taller Wes Johnson. I'm guessing that's offensively. Now, JT2 says he could be GU's best defensive player. Plus, his rebounding is improving. If all of it turns out to be close to the real thing, he's a Top 3 draft pick. I'm trying to contain my expectations here!!

Whittington definitely has the tools to be outstanding. You can see it. He's just not putting it all together yet, which is fine. He's a freshman. I could see him having a major breakout year next season though, when he has an increased offensive role.

Nice showing of a bit of his offensive game today. Hit a big 3, had a nice jump hook in the lane, and a nice floater streaking across the lane. I definitely agree, once he puts all the pieces together he's going to be a stud.

Greg needs to work on his touch around the rim.... big time. Maybe Othella can help him with that. He blows so many easy lay-ups, put-backs, and bunnies... it's pretty incredible.
He needs to slow down and FOCUS more on the finish. Kid has immense talent. I hope -- and expect -- he will put it all together in time. That three -- on an assist from Trawick -- was in rhythm and looked great.

He's way to casual with it and needs to learn to collect himself and power up much like Otto. That 2 on 1 break with otto was particularly tough to watch. That said, I was very impressed with how he powered through a tough start, didn't let it get to him, and single handedly carried us through a critical stretch.

Another newspaper feature on Greg, this one from the Washington Times. It has a lot of the same quotes as the Examiner article from 1/19/12 but is otherwise worth reading. Quote:"“Honestly, I think it’s just jitters,” Thompson III said of Whittington’s sometimes-erratic shot. “It’s early. He’s still trying to figure it out. I’m very comfortable when he takes a shot. He’s going to be a big-time scorer before he leaves here.”" www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/jan/25/hoyas-greg-whittington-adjusts-to-his-defensive-ro/

Nice find, cc. He considers himself the same player as Otto, except for Otto's perpetual motion, friendly rebounding rivalries, takes pride in his defense, etc... Team chemistry might be at a JT3-time high.

Off the court (at least in Maui) Otto and Greg were inseparable. I had a few conversations with them both and they seem to genuinely want the other to do well. In time, that chemistry will play itself out on the court.
