With III in Mississippi for Devonta Pollard, heard Hoyas have someone (didn't mention who) at Big Shots in Myrtle Beach--which is where they discovered Jabril Trawick last year. Good event too--because BABC is there prepping for this week's Peach Jam and Nerlens Noel will be there.

Baby Faced Giant. Heard he was coachable/worked hard but needs to re-shape his body--carrying about 30 lbs of bad weight. Compared to Sean May a lot--who was a great college player. If he has Sean May's touch, I'd take him in a second.

III back in DC today-was spotted at Kenner and think he'll head over to DC Showcase to see Team TakeOver play some games today. If not him-probably one of the assistants.
6'8 '13 PF Mike Kobani of National Christian mentioned Hoyas along with Maryland as being in contact with him. He is coming off an impressive showing at Reebok Challenge. Recruiting is open and just getting started but mentioned both schools specifically in update with NBE Sports.
Shane Rector mentioned Hoyas again as being interested--he's a 6'2 PG from Bronx who plays for Gauchos and is '13 combo guard.
Jermaine Lawrence a 6'8 combo forward from Cardozo HS in NYC '13 is talking of improving his game and how he's raw skill wise but improving. Had a lot of interest lately--including from Hoyas recently.
Semaj Christon did update with Jody Demling and mentioned he's "Wide open right now" with recruitment but listed Georgetown, Providence, Xavier, and Louisville as top 4 but more schools are entering picture. He's not worried about rankings and hype--just wants to play/do his thing.
Kyle Anderson led St. Anthony's to the title at Hoop Group Team Camp.
Myles Davis called Hoyas his "darkhorse" in recruitment as he's down to Xavier, Pitt, GTown, and West Virginia.
Kennedy Meeks and Nerlens Noel have had strong showings at the Big Shots today and Hoyas were present watching.

Landen Lucas says his top 7 is Oregon, Arizona, Cal, Stanford, Kansas, NC State, and Georgetown. Will also play senior year in Oregon.

Hoyas had Assistants tracking TJ Warren yesterday/will have them today at KY Jamfest.
Mike Kobani did update with Maryland Rivals site and said he's heard from Va Tech, Georgetown, Texas, and Maryland.
III/Assistants were at DC Showcase to watch TakeOver last night.

If I had my choice of 2012 recruits, I think I'd really want Anderson and Warren at this point. Both are complete studs and seem within reach. And then, if you're not feeling like Anderson is enough reinforcement at the guard spots, you go after Myles Davis or Christon in addition. That would be a stellar class.
What are everyone's preferences right now?

We could put out some crazy lineups with Anderson and Warren.
Those two are probably top of my wishlist too, but Anderson is a class apart. If we sign him, some other other dominoes fall our way, I believe.

I don't think anyones really confident that he will be a Hoya, but I also see absolutely no reason to count the possibility out. Who has the edge over us right now on his list?

I don't think anyone has a clue. Seton Hall and St. John's fans both think they lead and they both think that Georgetown is their main competition.

Think it's us or SJU. Seton Hall seems too small-fry for a top 5 talent. Florida and UCLA are too far away. I'm not confident, but my sense is that he and his camp are smart about finding a system where his unique skill set will shine, and they think Georgetown is one of those places. I'm sure we've sent him a ton of Jeff Green highlights and said "imagine what this would look like with a guy who can handle like a point guard..."

Robert Upshaw of Dreamvision a guy Hoyas have kept eye on has officially been measured in as 7'1 now. Just worth following as he's one of the few true centers size wise available in '12 class. Not sure how intense the Hoyas are in his recruitment but 7'1 and skilled is worth monitoring.

Can't predict what a teenager will do-this time a year ago we all started to get upset (at least I highly overreacted) to the Tyrone Johnson/Rakeem Christmas "losses" and Hoyas did a nice job of bringing in a very strong class. Kyle is someone Hoyas are in final 5 and I'll say final 4 as I think the one team who has strong program but too far away would be UCLA--and they are looking at a ton of PG options too--LJ Rose, DSR(who I think Hoyas have cooled on imo-no inside info just obseravation) and Bruins are really in fight for Shabazz Muhammed too.
If you are in Final 4 for a prospect at this point and he's been a priority for 3 1/2 years--that is all you can do as a program. Your in great position and close is tough fight but at least you made the player realize he's important and major focus of your program's recruitment.

Recruiting 101... Only the player and his parents (or closest advisor if parents are not around) know where he's going/leaning before he declares. Other than that the rest is rumors... some will play out, some will not (remember Roscoe?). Anderson and his family have been pretty clear about his recruitment and what he's looking for in a program. JT3 and staff have kept close tab on the kid for a pretty long time now and build a good relationship. That said, feeling good too...
