He said he only wanted to win 1 National Title....what more do you want? One can only imagine how amazing our late 1980s and early 1990s teams would have been if JTIII's father had put in one tenth of the effort of his son on the recruiting trail.

Some info from Allerick Freeman at LeBron below (from ESPN). Seems like he's impressing:
Standout players
Allerik Freeman (Charlotte/ Olympic) 2013, PG/SG, 6-foot-4, 197 pounds Freeman has good size, strength and a great command of the ball. He pushes the ball with great pace and has an excellent feel for what needs to be done in a given situation. He is able to create plays for himself or others and is as complete of a combination guard we have seen to date. His midrange game is great, which includes a beautiful floater that he knocks down with touch and body control. He will not hesitate to throw the advance pass or feed the post. Freeman also does a great job of using the shot fake to gain an offensive advantage. He can be a little streaky from behind the arc, but this can be fixed with better shot preparation. Defensively, he pressures the ball, helps and recovers and closes out under control. Freeman has a long offer list but did mention Virginia, Virginia Tech, Miami (FL), NC State, South Carolina, Georgetown, Tennessee, Georgia, Wake Forest, Xavier and Florida.

Semaj Christon '12 is having a strong showing in Indianapolis and has been mentioned as being a "blur with the basketball" and not turning it over while being fast. Hoyas are in top 4 and good place to be--but EVERYONE is going to start calling soon--so this recruitment might be getting started, not ending soon.
Georgetown was watching Brian Bernardi '12 SG the past few days and he's getting a lot of Mid Major offers right now--think it's Brennan tracking him.
Landen Lucas '12 C/PF (undersized C) seems to be waiting to see if Georgetown will offer. Recently did interview with NC State site and mentioned Georgetown a lot in the interview.
Pops and company recruited well in late '80's--they just didn't keep some valuable parts or replace them. Think of it this way--with Mourning playing in Dapper Dan in '88, Vitale was talking about Chris Jackson being a possibility for Georgetown-but word was Kenny Anderson was a heavy lean to Georgetown--so you had 2 of the best college players in country ready at the guard position to take over--and end up with Joey Brown. Then you had John Turner leave-and Larry Johnson wanting to come--but Hoyas back off and end up with Brian Kelly. Grant Hill doesn't come-but Robert Churchwell does. This is why recruiting is important.
If III ever has Broadus back on trail with Kirby--Georgetown will be bringing in hauls of talent.

Allerick Freeman is drawing a lot of Deron Williams comparisons from Dave Telep--who is best of the "gurus" nationally in my opinion.

I think the point is that our recruiting would have been great if the personal recruiting commitment was from Pops and not from the "and company". For example, Big John never went to see Grant Hill play in person, leaving that task to Esch.

Green Eggs and Ham, baby! Grant went to every GU home game at The Cap and wore 33 in honor of his idol, Ewing, but JT still blew it big time.
And word was that Kenny would have still picked GU if Big John had just given a phone call. JT wouldn't even go for that. Man, Thompson almost single-handedly brought the ACC back to greatness in the early 90s.
Just imagine if JT had stayed as hungry after his national title as, say, Jim Calhoun did after he got his first (and second). And, no, I'm not implying anything about cheating. Just a desire to stay on top and win it all.

Lets not totally re-write history. I was at the Boston shootout many years ago and JT was in the building while Grant Hill was on the court. i always thought he was a lock to Georgetown until the Infamous reading test given by Mary Fenlon.

This is not a history rewrite. I had a long conversation with Calvin Hill (Grant's father) on a Dallas Cowboys flight and we discussed his recruiting in detail. Calvin downplayed the Mary Fenlon story and said that in the end, Grant's decision came down to the comparison between JTJr. and Coach K. To paraphrase, Big John was right across the river and never showed up for a South Lakes home game, while Coach K always seemed to be at the games despite being several hundred miles away.

III was back at it today watching TJ Warren and Nerlens today. Kyle too.
Semaj Christon is blowing up-Jody Demling said he was by far the fastest guard he's seen at the Adidas Invitational and had major programs tracking him hard. He's led his team to an undefeated record in pool play.
Jeff Borzello did an interview with Baltimore Sun and in his words mentioned Nate Britt as a heavy Georgetown lean (don't agree with that one) that schools like Duke/UNC might be able to step in and take but not Maryland. Terps are making Britt a major priority. Will say that DC Assault has proven to be a major disappointment and rumors are strong he'll play with TakeOver next year to be on EYBL stage.

Dvauntes Smith Rivera has really struggled. He's gotten some "credit" for trying to play the PG spot--but he's really not shown well.
Myles Davis is leaning to Xavier right now.
TJ Warren has kept up his scoring---he's been routinely dropping 40 pt games all Spring/Summer and that continued today at Lebron where he had about 30. Also probably whey Calipari Mafia (Calipari, Worldwide Wes, Payne, and Antigua) all turned up heat today.

Shane Rector- 2013 Guard from the Bronx played at HoopGroup this week
In addition to Manhattan and an earlier offer from Hofstra, Antigua said that Rector's father received calls from "Rutgers, Cincinnati, Pitt, Villanova, Georgetown, Arizona and Stanford." during the Camp.

Good news for us? Don't think it'll matter much. I'm guessing he could do both (some ATL Celtics kids have played with EYBL team and still stayed with Adidas team but EYBL is best competition out there for AAU). Thing is, Nate's dad has been with Assault a long time--so these are just rumors now. Since this is info thread-thought I'd put it in here--but Nate has been recruited hard by III for 2 years now--so won't hurt. Assault is a feeder program for Duke now--so not like they don't deal with Nike--just not happy with Gtown.

Kennedy Meeks singles out Georgetown: Baby Faced Giant. Heard he was coachable/worked hard but needs to re-shape his body--carrying about 30 lbs of bad weight. Compared to Sean May a lot--who was a great college player.
