- Crowd was ridiculously late arriving. I can't imagine, especially after the dramatic wins we've had recently. Better late arriving than not showing up at all. I was not too pleased that the lower level student sections were not filled. I thought after our big win on Wednesday, even the bandwagon student fans would show up. Guess I was wrong. [That said, the students that were there did a great job cheering]

The obvious reaction is that he's slapping the board, but to be honest, he goes so hard at the rim, I almost think he is just pushing himself back from nailing his head into the backboard. I dont see it as that much different from hanging on the rim. A lot of time hanging on the rim is just to stop your self from flying off. That's exactly the way I saw it, at least today. And I think one reason Nate didn't see more PT in the second half was Hollis playing so well + JV in foul trouble = less lineup flexibility. Needed the bigger offensive threat without JV.

My feelings on Nate slapping the backboard: I like the aggression, throw it down, young man! Until he gets T'd up for it, which some of you think is inevitable but I'm not so sure, I will continue to like it. ;D Glad I'm not the only person who kind of likes it!

I think Nate not playing towards the end may have had to do with Marquette's press as well... needed ballhandlers out there.

The big difference in the 2nd half was on the defensive boards. We forced them to take tough shots, but in the vesper half we didn't give them 2nd chances. Henry played some key minutes with a huge three point play, and Jason once again was meny from the line late in the game. Austin found ways to score despite not having his shot and was key in breaking the press at times. Chris has to get the game ball; he was the only one to play well throughout.

He better keep slapping the backboard to push off because he did nail his head today (at least from the Verizon's replay angle)

Does anyone have a link to the new video they showed before each half? There were some sweet highlights of the Hoyas from Ewing to the present?

Mike Patrick is by far the worst PBP announcer working for Disney/ESPN. I hope that someday soon he will hug an intern in an inappropriate manner, or perhaps use profanity when speaking to a co-worker. This cannot be emphasized enough. The guy is a total joke. He's not just bad, he's incompetent. I can't count the number of times today he identified the wrong player in calling the game. It's like he's blind or senile. Really just a Edited poor performance. Also I was glad to see that fat load from Marquette foul out. That guy was pounding his chest after each made bucket and the game was only three minutes old.

Also I was glad to see that fat load from Marquette foul out. I thought you were referring to the bald guy with the Marquette shirt in section 120. He got the students more fired up than most of our play did.

Nice win today. The guys fought through some poor shooting woes, especially in the first half. I loved the way they responded by shutting MU down on defense in the 2nd half, that was impressive and is the reason this team has an 8 game winning streak.
Player of this game is Chris Wright. He saw his teammates did not have it early from the outside and he decided this was one of those games he would have to do the scoring. Terrific job by CW, very little overpenetrating and he just knows his role now. I have always been one of CW's biggest fans on here, but I have to admit I was never sure he would be able to seamlessly run this offense, he has put all those doubts to rest these last few games. I will miss this kid for sure next season. What a leader, he leaves it all out there and just know what his team needs him to do for victory.
My second live game in the VC this season, not impressed with the student turnout at all. I hope that was just a Sunday afternoon, Marquette thing, but these guys deserve better support on an 8 game winning streak! This is the last go round for some really great Hoya seniors, I hope from here on out the students show up.

I hope Austin's ankle doesn't tighten up. Amazing for him to come in the 2nd half and have the mobility he had. I rather think it was bothering him on his 3 attempts, although he was off in the 1st half on the 3's.
The Hoyas really ground out this win. There was nothing fancy, just good D, good rebounding, good FT shooting.

A lot of discussion on the Marquette boards about their inability to win on the road against a good (i.e., top 25) team. Some interesting stats quoted below (note: have made no effort to verify accuracy, but love the stats based on where GU fits in).
---------------------------------------
Marquette remains one of only 321 teams without a road win vs. RPI top 25
Written by: jpudner@concentricgrasstops.com (bamamarquettefan1)
Several MU cynics agreed with the appraisal of former basketball great Len Elmore toward the end of today's loss to Georgetown that MUs inability to knock off a quality opponent on the road could hurt their chances Selection Sunday.
The problem with that logic is that all of MUs road losses have been to teams in the RPI Top 25, and if you eliminate every team that has yet to win at an RPI Top 25 this year, then you are only left with a 24 team tournament. Here are the only teams to accomplish what MU failed to do today:
3 wins at RPI top 25 -- Pitt 2 wins at RPI top 25 -- Florida, Syracuse, Gtown 1 win at RPI top 25 -- No. 1 Ohio State and 19 other teams 0 wins at RPI top 25 -- Marquette and 320 other teams
Marquette is 3-0 on the road when not playing a top 25 team, so the just can't win on the road argument doesn't work. Here is what has happened this year when a team has gone into the gym of an RPI Top 25 team, like MU did at Georgetown today:
67% - lose by double digits 24% - lose by single digits 9% - win
Yes, my colleagues tease me with the double digit losses banner hanging from the rafters in the background of the Bradley Center on this page, but I wouldn't be bragging about keeping it close if we were playing in Conference USA.
