Georgetown now 5-4 vs. Marquette since joining the Big East, despite playing them only 3 times at Verizon. Hoyas 2-1 at Verizon, 2-0 at MSG, and 1-3 in Milwaukee.

Marquette scored 25 points in the last 23 minutes of the game--another reason why Georgetown absolutely had to win a game like this.

Congrats! Way to pull off that win when we're not playing great... Tale two two halves...

ugly ass win, but I'll take it everyday. Most definitely. But it wasn't fun to watch.

Marquette scored 25 points in the last 23 minutes of the game--another reason why Georgetown absolutely had to win a game like this. I don't think thats so much of why they had to win as much as it is why they won and the only reason they were still in a position to win after a horrendous second half. Once they shored up the rebounding issues, they were able to let their defense win the game for them, along with a late appearance by the offense. If they had lost this game I don't think most would have thought, they scored 25 points the last 23 minutes, we needed to win this game. I think most would have thought, thank God they scored only 25 in 23 otherwise it would have been a blow out.

Another winnable game. Another game we could have lost. Another game we won. I'd rather be blowing people out by 25, of course, but I'll gladly take this.
If GameTracker is right, 16-24 inside the arc today, 7-28 outside it. I thought most of the 3's were good shots, taken as part of the offense, more or less in rhythm, and fairly open.
Eagles were 2-14 from 3 today and (assuming GameTracker is right) only had 4 assists on 20 made FGs.

We can chalk this win to great defense and rebounding in the second half.
We limited open looks, prevented offensive boards, and grinder it out. It's what winning teams do.

Great job by Hollis on the boards, and excellent scoring by CW. We did not execute that well in the last three minutes, but the Hoyas still showed more poise winning this game than many of us on the message board.

My gameball goes to Hollis. 13 rebounds and his length and defense at small forward was a HUGE reason that our defense choked Marquette in the second half. It's impressive to me that he was such a key and only hit one shot today. But he was a game-changer in that second half, because we were poor defensively in the first half. Eventually we were going to make shots, our offense is too good and we have too many weapons not to get hot at some point. My question was whether or not we could actually defend these guys and Hollis was a huge reason that we were able to turn it around in the second half

A big key to this win was the fact that we were able to get into the half down 35-31...we should've been down by 10-12 at that point....but thanks to some stupid marquette moments, (Johnson-Odom, Im looking at you mr. taunter), and Chris making shots, we were able to close the margin

The last two game second half rebounding has been key. Sims' 3 point play was also huge.
And someone on the staff needs to tell Lubick to never slap another backboard.

If the Big East tournament began today, Georgetown would be a #3 seed, St. John's has the tiebreaker on the #5 seed (!) assuming UConn holds serve over PC tonight, and Syracuse would open up the tourney Tuesday at noon vs. DePaul before friends and family.
Still a lot of movement over the next three weeks, though.

Yea, this time it was VERY obvious. Really? I couldn't tell if he actually hit the backboard this time or just made a motion to. I thought the first one was obvious.

So proud of this team today. Bronxie had a bad feeling about this game from the time Free missed 2 threes to start the game. This was exacerbated by the fact that we could not come all the way back and take a lead.
What makes me smile so much is that we showed toughness today. We did not play our best but we fought through it. Hell of job protecting our boards in the second half. This is the type of team we will see in the 2nd round of the tourny projecting ahead.
