The 180 club is reserved for those elite shooters who's FG%, FT% and 3pt% adds up to 180 or higher. Austin Freeman is easily in the club, in fact, he makes the 190 club.
BUT WHAT ABOUT VEE SANFORD?!?!?! He makes the 180 club. He makes the 190 club. He makes the 200 club. He makes the 210 club. He makes the 220 club. He makes the 230 club. HE MAKES THE 240 CLUB!!!!
Sure, he's only taken 26 shots, but the kid is shooting 75% from 3! I'm not sure where to find them, but I'd love to see what he could do with 7-8 more minutes a game.

Could not agree more, there's something special about that kid and he deserves more pt.

Agree that he deserves more PT and am excited to see what he would do with it. He seems to be extremely confident coming in at any point. However his lack of minutes are not a result of his lack of talent or non-trust in the staff (i think) but rather the fact that he plays with the best starting backcourt in the nation.

Yeah, the only thing keeping Vee on the bench are the sick guards in front of him. I'm going to be really excited to see what he can do in more minutes next year. I'm going to go out on a limb and say he doesn't stay in the 240 club playing 24 minutes a game though. We can all dream...

At first I was not drinking the Vee kool-aid fully, but he has really impressed in the minutes he gets in. When you go back and look at his senior year in HS, his performance is not a surprise, he was a do-it-all guard who carried his team pretty far. I agree with everyone, Vee is sitting behind the best 3 guard line-up in the country, you cannot knock JT3 for his limited minutes. I am looking forward to see what he will do next year and how he can continue to make impact plays in limited minutes this season.

Agree, with this roster there simply will not be minutes available this year.
I think he's a much better defender then he gets credit for.
I think the one thing we should all keep in mind is that it's not a given that Markel is the heir to the starting PG position for 2011-12. Personally i would be more comfortable right now if Vee is that guy.

I had family visiting and took them to the UNC-A game. When Vee checked in I told them "Watch this guy. He always makes something good happen." Sure enough, Vee quickly made a three pointer and a steal. I thought he was as good as any of our players in Kenner league last summer but didn't know if he would be able to keep it up in the real season. Love the way he plays the game.

I say the same thing: good things happen when Vee is in the game. Period. A steal, a three, a nice little floater in the lane, whatever. He makes things happen. Against Loyola, there was a play where Freeman intercepted a pass and ran it back for a dunk. That was set up by Vee, who tried to intercept a pass but jumped a split second late. He still altered the first pass, which then forced the one the Freeman picked off. Also, look at WHEN he makes plays. His three against Memphis was when we were up 29-27. The game was still close, and we definitely needed that boost. It's the same as his Syracuse runner on the baseline, which gave us the lead in arguably our biggest win last year.

I think he's a much better defender then he gets credit for. I agree wholeheartedly. In fact, I think Vee could very well be our best guard on defense right now. He moves his feet VERY well on d.

Vee basically has Jason's body type with nearly the same arm length, may be a slight touch slower, but has better hops. Vee actually has better lateral movement than Jason. Both guys probably need a touch more work on their handle.
I think Vee has the potential to be the same type of contributor next year as Jason is this year.
If there is one negative thing I can point to about Vee this year is that in his limited minutes, he has gotten caught in the air a few times with nowhere to go. But that's a small quibble for a guy who just looks like he will burst on the scene next year with increased minutes.
And I still have this feeling that late game play by Vee will lead to a Hoya victory in conference this year.

I've been thinking for a while that we probably have a couple guys in the 180 territory, and I wasn't even thinking about Vee at the time. The interesting thing isn't the fact that Wright and Clark are also in the 160s and 170s, but the whole team's shooting number right now is 168.5. I'll take it.

Both guys probably need a touch more work on their handle. This is what, I think, will keep Vee out of the starting lineup next year. Both him and Jason (much more noticeably Jason) are a bit high with their dribble, which may lead to problems if they're the only ballhandlers on the floor. Markel doesn't have that issue. That being said, Vee will be a hell of a player for us next year, just off the bench in my opinion.

Markel, JC and Hollis are the perimeter next year, imo.

Markel, JC and Hollis are the perimeter next year, imo. Agree. But Vee could see about 20 minutes per off the bench.
