Didn't see the game but that boxscore for UConn is unbelievable. Walker took 27 of UConn's 60 shots. He only made 10 of the 27 shots he took. No one else on the "team" scored in double digits. The "team" also had a phenomenal 6 assists! That's some amazing stuff there.

Pretty convinced that we are better than UConn and pretty even with Pitt after that game. Kemba is not better than any other guard from gtown, nova, cuse, pitt, he is exceptionally fast and will win kudos all year long cause of his ppg, but only because UConn is unbalanced this year, not because he is any better than Freeman, Wright, Clark, Gibbs, Stokes, or Scoop. Great game to kick off the big east.

I still have my questions about Kemba Walker singlehandedly carrying this team throughout the entirety of the season, but he is going to give us fits. I'm not sure we're quick enough to check him on the perimeter. We'll have to be very good defensively as a team to contain him. But we did last year...

Great game to kick off the big east. Kemba is definitely better than that scumbag Scoop. Other than that I agree somewhat with what you're saying. The fact is that even though Kemba is talented his "numbers" will be inflated this season because he jacks up the ball. Watch his fg% decline as the BE season progresses.

Watched that whole game and now I understand what the talent evaluators mean when they say Walker lacks the understanding of how to play the game that NBA points have. He's definitely NBA quick, but he relies too much on that spin in the lane, fade away move and doesn't find open teammates well. He's stuck in Kober gunner mode from a few seasons ago.
Pitt on the other hand is a solid team that plays the game the right way. No way UConn should be ranked ahead of Pitt.

UCONN is not good. Kemba 10/27 for 31 points. Why is that considered good? How many points would AFree get with 27 shots? 45 points? Kemba = glorified Jeremy Hazel

We held Dyson in check last year, kemba didn't have the green light the way he does this year. He now basically has the authority to call a clear out at any time....its basically their only offense.

That game definitely played out the way we all expected. Pitt is a better team, even if Walker is extremely good. UConn definitely looked like a one man team tonight. I'm just saying, purely as it relates to us, we're going to have a tough time guarding UConn. They're of course going to have a miserable time guarding us. But I don't see Jason being quick enough to stay with Walker an entire night. He's the kind of guy that a Roy team would dismantle because you could overextend on the perimeter and funnel him into Roy. But given that we don't have that kind of defense on the interior, I'm worried he will singlehandedly make our game with them pretty tense. This is pretty much spot-on. Walker's numbers are going to go down, but he was scoring a third of his team's points with an eFG of 58.6 coming into tonight -- there's nowhere else to go. Guy still scored 59 points on 20/36 shooting against Michigan State and Kentucky. Comparing Walker last year to Walker this year is about as valid as doing the same for Henry Sims. UConn is not a top-five team in the country, but by the time we play them and Napier, Lamb, and Roscoe have almost a full season's worth of experience, that's going to be a very tough team.

Didn't see it listed but two solid wins for you guys so far, Old Dominion and Missouri (both on the road might I add), will be mixing it up on Thursday night.
Mizzou is coming off a big win over Illinois in the Bragging rights game and ODU has rolled off 4 in a row over ECU, UMES, Dayton and Presbyterian at home after a disappointing loss to Delaware a few weeks back.
ODU is 9 and 2 and Mizzou is 10 and 1 with the only loss coming to your Hoyas. If ODU can limit turnovers and control the boards, we will have a shot to pull the upset. If we get flustered by their press and settle for a bunch of outside shots, it could get real ugly.
Should be an interesting game either way though, especially if the Mizzou players decide to take us lightly.

It should be a good game. Unlike GU, ODU cannot match MU's style of play. It should be an interesting clash of styles.

That article is spot on.
Pitt allowed a 30-something% FG scorer to keep UCon around for a long time before his legs got tired from all the running around to escape his defenders.
If we pass the ball around and find the open shooter when we visit UCon, then we win going away.
I'm glad we don't have to go to Pitt this year.

UConn will be exposed and embarrassed tonight, making it finally possible to go outside again here in CT. OK, in fairness we stayed inside due to snow, but still, they suck and I need Pitt to show what we know[/quote Seaweed, I feel your Pain, once when I was like 15 I got beer thrown on me at the Civic Center for wering my georgetown parka. It was my first game and seeing mourning and mutombo was worth it. Hard being a hoya fan in CT!

I also watched the game and came away that: 1. Uconn is overrated, but ive posted that before on this board this year. 2. Pitt is very good, one thing they have that not many other teams have is the ability to hit the mid-range jumper. They dont rely on the three. They can go inside, or drive take two dribbles and pull up for a jumper. Very impresive. 3. Roscoe Smith was not worth all the fan fare and envy he got on this board. I also have not liked his on the court attitude this year, cry baby. We are better off.
Stating the obvious its going to be a tough big east schedule, our sr leadership and poise will serve us well. Teams like UCONN will flame out. They are FRANTIC and YOUNG.

Uconn is overrated. Pitt is good but no better than last year. Pitt is a lot like us currently. Great offensively, mediocre defense.
Walker will be very black and blue by the time we play him. He get's crushed constantly. Honestly I would be surprised to see him injured this year with how much he drives into the trees and shoots diving lay ups and winds up out of bounds. I want to see Lubick destroy him with a hard clean foul. Walker is going to wear down with how much work he has to do and how often he gets fouled.

That's what a lot of people thought about Iverson. Kemba will be fine. UConn will not.
