I've never seen a game end like this Mizzou - Illinois game.

Weber wouldn't have to worry about the (correct-looking) intentional foul call had his team managed to get back on defense after a made shot.

Glad Mizzou won. Michigan State doesn't look very good this year. I like Texas better this year though. Some nice young pieces.

Can anyone explain how Mizzou got 8 points in two seconds? ESPN lists it as:
0:31 Laurence Bowers made Two Point Layup. 64-61 0:31 64-61 Foul on Mike Tisdale 0:31 Laurence Bowers made Free Throw. 65-61 0:31 Laurence Bowers made Free Throw. 66-61 0:31 Marcus Denmon made Two Point Layup. Assisted by Michael Dixon. 70-61 0:31 70-61 Brandon Paul missed Three Point Jumper. 0:31 Laurence Bowers Defensive Rebound. 70-61 0:29 70-61 Foul on Mike Davis 0:29 70-61 Team Technical Foul 0:29 Marcus Denmon made Free Throw. 71-61 0:29 Marcus Denmon made Free Throw.

I personally wouldn't have called an intentional but as GoldHoya pointed out, Illinois didn't get back on D. Down 62-61 with under 40 seconds left and you let them get a breakaway basket off a made bucket. Inexcusable.

H2Oya, Illinois hit a 3 to cut the lead to 62-61. Missouri threw an outlet pass deep for a breakaway layup. Tisdale was late and fouled Bowers as he made the layup. Ref Higgins called an intentional foul. Bowers made 2 free throws. Missouri got ball and threw quick pass for another layup while Bruce Weber was yelling at Higgins for calling the intentional foul. Weber got techinical. 2 more free throws for Missouri.

It is excellent that Missouri won. I don't care if Missou is ranked ahead of us. If we are anywhere near each other at the end of the season, we will always have the head to head win for seeding purposes.

Mike Anderson coached teams have always been fun to watch, and I'm having a blast watching the Tigers on occasion this season. It's good to see Mizzou shake off the Quinn Snyder years. Tough call at the end tonight for Illinois, but as Gold Hoya points out, it wasn't a blown call. Dude shoved the shooter in the back. Although I might not have called an intentional foul, reasonable minds may differ.

By definition it was an intentional foul because Tisdale just pushed Bowers in the back without even going for the ball. However, I think the rule should be changed to flagrant as opposed to intentional. There are plenty of intentional fouls in basketball that shouldn't be penalized with two additional free throws and possession of the ball on top of that.
If a defender fouls in a way that is clearly dangerous and puts the shooter at serious risk I think a flagrant foul should be called, resulting in the two shots and possession. The way the rule is now I see way too many games affected by the officials making the right call on a rule that is simply stupid. There's nothing wrong with an intentional foul as long as it is simply an effort to prevent an easy basket and nothing malicious is done, but there are times when a foul is clearly flagrant and should be penalized.

That has to be one of the dumbest fouls I've ever seen. You've got the last defender chasing the ballhandler from behind then extending both arms into a guy's back, and he doesn't even make it count! You chase a guy then push him in the back, you're going to get an intentional foul -- at least send him into the second row or something. At least Tisdale probably made Corey Stokes feel better.

ugh seton hall chokes away another game to an A-10 opponent. Lost both games Dayton and now richmond in the last 5 minutes. I know they're missing Chucky McChuckerson but they have to close out games. No NCAAs for the pirates this year.
