This is absolutely atrocious. I understand losing some of our top recruits to programs like Duke, UNC, Kentucky, hell even Syracuse, but Nova?! Nova is basically GTown-lite in every imaginable way; Georgetown is better than Villanova by all standards. If you ask any Villanova student where they really wanted to go to college, they would say they wanted to go to Georgetown, but couldn't get in. The fact that we are losing so many recruits to Nova is a reflection of the state of our basketball program and the recruiting abilities of our coaching staff, period. If our program was where it should be, this would not happen. We are "Big Man U" for Christ's sake! Furthermore, we have two big men committed to us (Hopkins and Bolden) who have "bust" written all over them. I've seen both of these guys play in person, and saying they were unimpressive would be an understatement. The recruiting job this staff has done is shameful. I'm not one to panic, but too many things have gone wrong for this program over the last 3 years to not see the writing on the wall; we are in serious trouble. Agree. Only two things I can think of that make Nova more appealing: (1) Wright seems like a very pleasant and upbeat guy; (2) Most kids don't want to hear about the rigorous academics at Gtown - they'd rather hear "don't worry, you'll do fine academically at Nova"

Although we were amongst his finalists, I always had a feeling he wasn't coming. Nothing to do with inside info, but it just seems like that's how things have gone with top targets.
Good luck to the young man, but this seems like the beginning of another solid, but unspectacular '12 class. And by solid, that's giving Bolden a lot more credit than those that have seen him actually play have given him.

Well, if this is true:
Ochefu wanted to find a coach who could help develop his skills and potential in order to drive him to the NBA.
Then he's been brainwashed, because he's clearly made the wrong decision, as evidenced by the massive number of big men that Wright has sent to the NBA.
Also, agree with RDF. Recruiting bigs in Philly just seems like a road to Heartbreak Hotel.

The bottom line is that top notch recruits no longer want to play at Georgetown. We basically did nothing in the tournament with 3 McDonald aa's and players take note of that. At this point, jt3 is going to have to make due and find a way to win with what he has and hope that he can right the ship....I just don't see any top notch guys falling in our lap until that happens.

Nova had three McDonalds All Americans this yr and became the first team ever in the NCAA tourny to lost six games in a row to end the season. However, they did finish strong some previous yrs and lost to big name programs (or St Marys which at least isnt Ohio).

Weren't they a final four team just two years ago? Whatever the case may be...they are still landing 5 star recruits.

To be honest, big loss but would take Kevin Ware instead based on the composition of our team next few years...

From a position of need standpoint, this is not a major loss. From a perception standpoint, it's a pretty big loss - most people previously thought it was down to Georgetown and Temple, for Nova to sweep in and add him to an already excellent 2012 class is not good for us.
Would like a stud PG - Kevin Ware, your table is ready!

I agree--disappointing from the point of what we were thinking, but on a need basis we have to hope the stable of big guys we already have coming will suffice. Guard seems to be a bigger priority. Ochefu would have looked nice in a Hoya uniform though!

How many McD AAs did Notre Dame have on their team this year? Pitt? Louisville? WVU? SJU? BYU? SDSU? Without looking, my guess is not many more than zero in the aggregate, if at all.
Come on guys, having McD AAs on your team does not guarantee success. And not having McD AAs on your team does not preclude success. We need to start looking past this empty stat a bit.
What we know is that JTIII has been an extremely hard working on the recruiting trail and, for the most part, a very effective recruiter.
Losing recruits like Ochefu is losing in the NCAAs. It hurts tremendously at the time. But you have to remember that only 1 team feels great at the end of a recruiting contest (and NCAA tournament). All other teams involved who lose feel terrible.
I trust JTIII's intelligence, ethics, and hard work. And that's all I ask for in a coach and recruiter. Our day will come. And it will come with JTIII at the helm. He is not leaving any time soon, and for all the right reasons.

You might also add that we didn't have a lot of McD AA's on our final four team (I believe the number is one, and he didn't play a lot [Macklin was a freshman on that team, correct?])

GU did have size, length and a small forward though. This years team lacked that, imo.

You don't need "highly ranked players" or "McDonalds All Americans"--you need NBA caliber talent to win in CBB--and Georgetown had that from '06-'08 when they were rising and had 1 NBA caliber player the past 2 years.
Key is getting athletes who capable of being NBA prospects. To do that consistently--you need to adapt how you coach to fit their talent and you need to show that kids are allowed to play free/open on the court to keep bringing in consistent elite prospects--again-not on rankings--for instance BJ Young wasn't any different as a player the past few years--nobody knew him-he went out this past Summer and destroyed everyone and moved up as a top 20 prospect.
Georgetown has to start getting back to getting athletic guys who can make plays without the ball-as much as with it. Every guy on this year's team didn't influence the game without the basketball--at least wasn't a dominant player. They all needed the ball to be an impactful player. That has to change.

Simple.
Kids who want to play Princeton...go to Princeton.
And if they are OK with Princeton...they're probably mid-major at best.
Yup, u heard right, there's trouble in River City, and it starts with P, but it ain't pool.
It's R...and that's for Recruits.

Also, I would point out to the previous poster who said if you want to play the Princeton, go to Princeton that Richmond plays the Princeton, and I believe they have a game coming up in a couple days. There's nothing inherently wrong with the offense. You need the right personnel for it. As id pointed out above, the Final Four team had size and a true small forward (who all happened to be really good players). This team had neither of those. On edit, that's not quite fair, as Hollis could turn out to be the small forward we need, if he is surrounded by the other necessary parts.

HT is a true small forward and is good. But he didn't take shots.
