I'd take Tyler Lewis in a heartbeat, put him in position to create/dish. He would get destroyed on defense...

That last statement is not true at all. Most will tell you that Tyler Lewis was the key player on that team and he was. Whether he comes a star in college or not-the kid is a very good HS player and good point guard. He was guy who kept everyone happy and made sure guys got the ball. If you took Lewis off that team, move DSR to PG, that team loses 5-6 games and with majority of their schedule being against inferior opponents, that's significant because they played about 10 competitive opponents in their 44 games. ....We get it. You don't like DSR. Is it possible to discuss reality with some fans? The statement above isn't true? How many Oak Hill games did you watch? DSR isn't a point guard. Whether you think he's next coming or a role player, the statement about who was Oak Hill's most important player and dismissing Tyler Lewis is laughable. If you don't want reality to be discussed--then start a "Fantasy World" board and feel free to make a world where all Hoyas are the best and everyone else sucks.

I watched four or five of their games this year actually. I know tyler lewis is their pg and made them go this year in terms of distributing. To say they would lose 5 or 6 games if DSR played point is a little harsh. They would have won a lot more if certain kids going to west coast schools didn't shoot so much. You just seem to want to beat a dead horse with "he isn't good at defense, he can't do this blah blah." I think he will be better than tyler lewis at the next level in terms of overall player. I agree with most of your points about things he needs to improve on but broken records are annoying for a reason.

I agree with most of your points about things he needs to improve on but broken records are annoying for a reason. That's not a shot at Smith Rivera as much as crediting Lewis for being a good HS point guard and key player for that group. Nobody else on that team was a true PG. Take him away and roles change. It's one thing to be happy to get a player--another to have some jaded picture of a guy's strengths/weaknesses. To say he was the focal point of what made them go and putdown Lewis is ridiculous. DSR played his part and did a fine job. He got hot at end of year and was shooting the ball outstanding. He's a wonderful FT shooter. He's a good passer. He fits the style of play III prefers for his offense/program in terms of a guard. They got him--no reason to worry about awards, accolades or make up reasons to say another kid wasn't their most important player when in fact he was. That doesn't mean DSR sucks. It doesn't mean Lewis is greatest ever to lace them up.

RDF, what are you thoughts on DSR as it relates to THIS team. I think there's still a bit of work to do for him, but shooting is a good start. I haven't seen good enough defense yet from him. Lewis, on the other hand has defensive issues, but GU's guards weren't necessarily stoppers as well. (on a side note: REALLY wish Matt Causey would've worked out; Lewis made me think of him)

Is it really this hard to keep a thread entitled Devonta Pollard ON Devonta Pollard? Do we really have to debate the strengths and weaknesses of a guy who isn't even here yet on another recruits thread? Don't we have 4 years to talk about how much DSR sucks? Pace yourselves people.

That's a shame. But no reason to mess around with a concussion for an exhibition game. Off topic, but I know Tyler Lewis is a good player and so forth, but pretty much everyone agrees DSR was the motor behind that 44-0 Oak Hill team. He should be in the game. That last statement is not true at all. Most will tell you that Tyler Lewis was the key player on that team and he was. Whether he comes a star in college or not-the kid is a very good HS player and good point guard. He was guy who kept everyone happy and made sure guys got the ball. If you took Lewis off that team, move DSR to PG, that team loses 5-6 games and with majority of their schedule being against inferior opponents, that's significant because they played about 10 competitive opponents in their 44 games. ....but without DSR Tyler Lewis has no one to pass to. (I realize Jordan Adams, but DSR fills it up more, and from more spots). I, personally, think a team w/o DSR would lost more than 5-6 games. But thats just me.

I watched Tyler Lewis win the McD AA skills challenge at lunch today. The non-basketball aficionado with me was just agog at the kid's talent level. I like NC State's chances in the ACC next year.

especially now since UNC, Duke and FSU are all losing at least 3 kids to the league.

Ehhh jay burson was a scorer that happened to play point like Scott Skiles was in college. Jay burson woulda been a beast in the NBA if not for neck injury...I'm guessing you meant cause they were both small skinny guys.

Id call Tyler a less talented Jason Williams....Im being kind, I played a lot versus him for a year. The best ballhandler I'd ever been around.

If Tyler Lewis is half the player Jay Burson was, he had a great college career...Burson was a better player than Skiles
