Finally! We got one. I dont know much about the kid's game, but if the staff was on him, I will trust their judgment. Now if we can get a couple bigs this can be a serviceable class.
My only question is if he is a legitimate 6'5" because if he is, perhaps he can play some at the 3 like I hope Aaron will be able to do because Hollis is all we will have at the 3 going into 2011-12...

Nice to get one, but I really hope we can get at least 1 high impact big guy to anchor this class. Hopefully Trawick will be a very good 4-year player who can man the 2/3 spots, but we need a stud or two for those 4/5 slots over the next few years. I am hopeful Lubick will fill that role and that Moses will develop into a good one, but even if they both turn into great BE players, we still need depth and quality.
11-12 would seemingly look like this so far?
PG- Starks/Sanford/Clark SG- Clark/Bowen/Trawick SF- Thompson/Bowen/Trawick/Benimon PF- Lubick/Sims/Benimon C- Abraham/Sims
I love the effort Benimon gives out there, but he has a long ways to go to be an impact player who plays big minutes. Same goes for Sims based on what we have seen. While we may not know a lot about most of the guys we have at the 1-3 spots as far as what kind of players they will be/can be.....our depth as far as numbers seems to be more than ample (depending on who is actually able to play the 3 spot beyond Hollis). Trawick seems to have closed that out for us and we now need a focus on the 4/5 spots.....and it would be nice to have at least one guy who is not a "project". Not a lot of highly rated big guys left who seem to be interested though. Boy it would be nice to see Sims develop into a high level player!!
Sorry to repeat a lot that has been said through this thread, but I needed to think out loud!

There's also Aaron Bowen (who seems to be in that 6'5" small wing area that Jabril would be in) and Benimon, depending on your feelings on him. I think it will be hard to peg his height. I've heard he's smaller, but the people who say he is taller saw he's had a recent growth spurt, so...

Any updates on Michael Chandler, Myles Davis or Katenda? I think 2 of them with Robertson would be a nice class. Certainly good size for the HP folks.

It's clear III is looking at better athletes and kids capable of getting physical and defending. I have heard that both Bowen and Trawick are legit 6'6 and at least 200 lbs. If so, then they'll be able to defend the 3 spot, if they apply themselves.

We have 3 more schollies to burn. Given the state of our 2011 board right now, I think we may be well served to sign 2 more at most and hold a ship.

I think GU uses all three. A C, PF and an SF.

Does Jabril's signing alter our recruitment of Jarelle Reischel? Especially from Jarelle's perspective, I could see bringing in another guy the same height range as a threat to playing time, especially when he is teetering between high major and a slight step lower. That said, I have no problem adding tall, athletic guards/ swingmen with a defensive propensity.

I think most kids have the mentality that they are going to play a lot of minutes no matter who the school brings in. I'd rather Georgetown stay away from guys that are scared to compete.

Someone on the other board said that Trawick's verbal will have no effect on any other targets going forward.

What other board? Come on, like someone would have inside info re: JT3, recruiting at GU, playing time allotment or anything else related to the basketball program. They missed out on Jabril completely. His commitment took everyone by surprise. It's JT3's style. I haven't seen one poster who truly knows. It's all guessing, wishing, I don't want to say speculating, etc...

C'mon, there are members of both boards that are close to the program. To think they don't have a clue is naive.

C'mon, there are members of both boards that are close to the program. To think they don't have a clue is naive. Well, maybe I went too far with "anything else related to the basketball program" , but over the years no one here or elsewhere has proven to know what is going on with JT3's recruiting, who are JT3's starters, etc... Exhibit A: Jabril. Exhibit B: JB. (correct me if I'm wrong) Exhibit C: VS. (correct me if I'm wrong) And so on... Id, we've learned our lesson about so called recruiting gurus and people in the know. BTW, I'm not calling you out, and you can PM if you want to keep it private.

JB is a good example but we knew about Jabril and VS before they committed. Not that they were definitely committing, but we knew about them and had threads about them. When Jabril narrowed his list to us and FL st I think some of us knew he was coming here.

When Jabril narrowed his list to us and FL st I think some of us knew he was coming here. I'll let this do the talking: hoyatalk2.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=recruit&action=display&thread=22510That was only a month ago. ALL of us "knew" because it was all over the Internet, tweets, etc... But, did we know from JT3? Here's what an infamous former Hoyatalk poster and alleged recruiting guru, a.k.a. Roscoe, had to say somewhere else on Aug. 2nd about your post there announcing Jabril's offer that same day: "He is the normal late fall to spring guy, if other do not pan out. No need to get worked up. Kid is a good athlete and plays tough. Not quite Big East skilled yet, but worth monitoring.." Really? Don't get worked up? That could lead you to believe he's really in the know with JT3. ;D The next mention of Jabril is on Sept. 19th, the day of his commitment, by another former poster. Clearly, the four or five former Hoyatalk posters who now post there and not here were caught by surprise. Of Vee, if I remember correctly, we knew shortly about him before he signed (It would be interesting to see when Vee was first mentioned here by using the search function) and it was a new name around here late in the season. "Knowing" about numerous interested recruits through the recruiting services, sports websites, newspapers, posted interviews, YouTube, the campus tour guides, Hoyatalk posters walking around campus, a friend to the cousin of a recruit, etc... is one thing; having inside info on what cards JT3 holds or claiming to know more than other posters/recruiting fans with access to the Net is another. No one has proven to have that here, not even confidentiality-protected PM'ers.

I guess I didn't fully grasp your definition of know.
No I don't know if anyone knows. JTIII plays everything close to the chest, heck even the major recruiting sites, can't get information out of him. Scout's been putting lists out of all the visits each weekend for the past couple weeks and georgetown's never been on it even though we've had visitors on campus.
No one's getting info straight from the source, but I do believe people do get some inside info from time to time. No one's 100% right. No one. Recruiting is fluid and unpredictable. Some recruits play it closer to the chest than others, it's a hard thing to keep track of.

Does it occur to you that some of the posters on the boards may be closer or closest to the program and while they may enjoy the witty banter amongst posters, refrain from putting too much knowledge on any of these boards? Iow, they may know alot, but choose to share little.
