I just wanted to fill everyone in. The athletic department and Hoya Blue have decided to throw a Pep Rally this Friday at 7:30 pm on Harbin Patio. JT III is excited about addressing the student body, especially before such a huge game (even bigger now cause nova just beat BC).
His only request is that it is packed! The athletic department is going to take care of getting JT III and team to the location. It is our job to provide the students.
We need everyone on campus to spread the word and create some major buzz for this event. This is the kind of thing we've needed to have at Georgetown for a long time and now that we're getting the opportunity we need to take advantage of it!!!
Anyone who has any time available should help out in any way possible and try to make this a huge success, Lets get it done!!!
Tonight at 8:30 we're going to be doing some major flyering, hanging signs, etc. to advertise for this. Anyone who wants to come should just send me an IM (KM3GU).The most important thing is just spreading the word to create excitement and trying to get as many people as possible to attend. We need it to be absolutely packed so that this can be successful and we can establish awesome traditions like this for the future.
WE ARE GEORGETOWN!!!

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I never thought I would see the day that this type of rally would take place, in the middle of the season, with the coach and whole team present, on campus!
Perhaps on the eve of a trip to the Final Four or something, but not during a coach's first year, with such a young team, and a couple nights before the biggest game of the season. I am surprised, impressed, excited, flabergasted, speechless, at a loss for words....
I owe big props to both the Athletic Dpt. and yes, even to Hoya Blue! While it is unlikely that this was inspired by JT III, I must say that I am very impressed that he went along with it, and with whoever convinced him to.
First, the ad in the paper thanking the students and encouraging them to continue supporting the team in big numbers. And now, not only is there a rally, but JT III and the whole team will be there. HOYA PARANOIA is great for the outsiders, but I LOVE the fact that the coaching staff is inviting the entire student body along for the ride.
I was planning to make the trip down to D.C. on Saturday or Sunday - I only wish I could get out of here on Friday as this is an historic event. Not only is this great for building campus spirit, but it also shows that JT III wants his team to enjoy the results of their hard work so far. Moreover, he's getting them psyched up for Sunday, and showing them that if they can come out and play hard on Sunday, great things will follow.
For those of you who were at Georgetown in the 80's, did this ever happen? I've heard stories about JT addressing the student body, but I always imagined that this took place after winning the Championship, or at least after the season was over following a run to the Final Four.
Well, all I can say is that whoever organized this (and I'm sure credit must go out to many people), keep up the good work, and to the rest of you, ESPECIALLY the students:
GET YOUR A$$ THERE NO MATTER WHAT!!! THERE ARE NO EXCUSES. MAKE SURE THIS IS A HUGE SUCCESS AND THAT IT WILL BE THE BEGINNING OF A NEW TREND, A MASSIVE PEP RALLY MID-SEASON, ON THE EVE OF A HUGE GAME!
I am so excited about the game on Sunday, and this news really has me fired up. Forget about all this talk concerning RPI and other teams and conferences, and at-large bids and what not - let'ss take care of business, bring along the brooms, and sweep Villanova!
LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! LET'S GO HOYAS!!! Make sure to fire the guys up because Sunday is going to be tough. I hope Nova comes in with a little hangover after the BC W. We will be loud on Sunday.

Reminder- this is Early Action Open House weekend, so there will be close to 300 prospective students on campus all day Friday who may be interested in an event like this. Hoya Blue should coordinate with GAAP to get those kids out there too if possible.

Can the AD get a campus-wide email sent out in order to alert everyone of the rally? I know there was a basketball-related email out not too long ago; can they do the same thing for this rally?
As excited as I am for it, I fear that short notice and weather may lead to a disappointing turnout, which would have the opposite effect on the guys that we're trying to create.

Agreed. They better do this right, because this would be AWESOME!!!! If they do this right, it would go a looooooong way towards returning Hoya Blue to respectability, in that this woud be the first step (a pretty big one at that) they've taken towards respectability this year, as opposed to the many steps they've taken away from it. I really, really, really, really hope that this goes well, b/c it could have a lot of positive impact on GTown.

Wow. I could not be happier we're rallying for the Hoyas, in-season, rather than rallying concerns about them off-season! I may even make a cameo during if I can.
If this is happening, BIG props for HB and the AD. They realize how important this game is and want everyone there.
Let's rock MCI Sunday. Go Hoyas!

I know that all campus-wide emails of this variety go through the Office of Student Affairs and CSP in Leavey. 2007 and others, you might want to contact people in CSP (like Martha Swanson) who would be able to direct you to the right people to spread the word. Still so impressed by this - if this works, my faith is fully restored in HB and the AD. I will officially start the Adam-Brick-for-Permanent-AD campaign!

this is also leadership weekend for alumni who are involved in the board of governors, their local clubs or reunion planning, the alumni house could send an email to all on their list about this event and many people who are in town by then would certainly find this interesting.

Harbin Patio? Not Healy Circle? tgo, where you getting your info from? They had better be sending out a campus wide e-mail for this one.

I emailed someone in the alumni house and asked if they can spread the word to people coming in for the leadership weekend and they responded with the note i posted above.
I was also told that unfortunately this is the same time as the awards presentation where they give out regional club awards as well as individual awards to the Healy and Gaston award winners so many alums will be attending that.

Is there any way to get the message out to the DC Alumni Club? That's another route to pursue.
