Coach has espressed on a number of occasions that he is all about Georgetown, rather than about him, and I get the sense that he doesn't love the chant.
Given the disgustingness that is the Coach K worship at Duke, I can't say I blame him.

I personally like the JT III chant. I don't think it's coach worship, I think it's supporting the guy and appreciating the great job he's done here. This chant has been written about in several articles about Georgetown this year, so I think it's good publicity for the school as well.

I agree with you, CA, but it can get carried away if it is overutilized, which I would argue it hasn't been. So, I am surprised by JT3's reaction to it, although he does come across as unwilling to accept credit for his accomplishments this season.

Agreed, Jersey. It's fine as long as it doesn't get carried away.
However, if JT III is arguing with an official and gets T'd up, I wouldn't mind a little "JT III" chant... ;D

Hey guys, just wanted to say that the Pep Rally was awesome! You know, during the GAAP weekend, they had been talking about "defining moments" or "moments of truth" that people experience making them want to be at Georgetown. I'd definitely have to say that the pep rally was one of those things. Actually being able to chant "We Are Georgetown" and "Hoya Saxa" just felt....well....right. Unless something very strange happens, I will be seeing you all in the fall, and I guarantee I'll be just as rowdy as you guys in the front row were. Go Hoyas!
P.S. My name is Ed

Caddy/Ed, glad that you could make it out, and it was a pleasure to meet you and your friend. I hope that she was likewise impressed with the event in spite of the iffy turnout. Games are more intense in terms of fan involvement, and we've been drawing 1000 and above at most home games in terms of student attendance. Maybe the fight song won't be as befuddling after a week of New Student Orientation, although the parties on the Village A rooftop aren't conducive to retaining information during that time. ;D (If you want lyrics, click here: www.georgetown.edu/student-affairs/handbook/resources/fightsong.html).

I wasn't sure where to post this but since there's been no email sent out, what time are the buses tomorrow morning? I assume 10:30 but I just wanted to make sure.

Jersey, I actually prefer the lyrics from hoyasaxa.com, there are a few slight differences. It's been so long since last we met, Lie down forever, lie down; Or have you any money to bet, Lie down forever, lie down. There goes old... Georgetown Straight for a... touchdown See how they... gain ground Lie down forever, lie down, Lie down forever, lie down." Rah! Rah! Rah! Hurrah for Georgetown Cheer for victory today 'Ere the sun has sunk to rest, In the cradle of the west In the clouds will proudly float The Blue and Gray." We've heard those loyal fellows up at Yale Brag and boast about their Boola-Boola We've heard the Navy yell We've listened to Cornell We've heard the sons of Harvard tell How Crimson lines could hold them Choo Choo, Rah Rah, dear old Holy Cross The proud old Princeton tiger Is never at a loss But the yell of all the yells, The yell that wins the day Is the 'HOYA, HOYA SAXA!' Of the dear old Blue and Gray. No one uses the word "harang" like in that version you gave. Caddy, during basketball season touchdown is replaced with rebound. www.hoyasaxa.com/sports/songs.htm

haha...yeah i noticed that...very clever. Sad that the fight song is kinda outdated ....we don't even play those teams...but, I suppose it is part of tradition. I like tradition.

We've heard those bastard traitors at BC Brag and boast about their ACC cash We've heard the Irish yell The Johnnies' 'hood is Hell We've heard the sons of Nova tell How McLean's "lines" would hold them Choo Choo, Rah Rah, dear old Satan Hall And Syracuse's Orange Is the dumbest of them all But the yell of all the yells, The yell that wins the day Is the 'HOYA, HOYA SAXA!' Of the dear old Blue and Gray.

Could I suggest changing Satan Hall to Cretin Hall? Either way, it is still pretty damn funny. Good work, and I can't help but think that some of it was beer induced.

No, it's sleep deprivation- not beer, sadly. Staying up to make signs for the game.
You're right, it should be Satan Hell or Cretin Hall- I just wanted it to fit with the knock on Cuse.
See everyone at the game tomorrow!
