The quality of the Post sports section pretty much hangs on Wilbon and Svrulga, plus the guy who covers the Caps is pretty good. Hamilton for LaCanfora not a good trade off.

I'm a believer. I don't see this team buckling like last year. Can you identify a prima donna on this year's team? The leadership load is shared by Monroe, Chris and Awesome and everyone else is playing their roles. Vaughn has shown Michael Graham flashes.

Newsflash!!! Her job is not to give additional insight to the 1% of the people like us who follow the program every day of our lives. It's to make the story of the Georgetown basketball season more accessible to the everyday readers of the Washington Post. Seriously, what "inside" information are you expecting out of her first column? And to take potshots at her physical appearance is just embarrassing to the rest of the fan base. Grow up.

As long as she takes potshots at our team's depth, shooting, relations with coach, etc., and ignores the positives like the full number of ranked teams that we've beaten, I think it's fair game to take potshots based on the only thing we know about her: that she has a giant face.

The perfect summary to what I was thinking as well. I was just happy to see multiple columns on Georgetown in today's Post. We always whine that the Post does not cover GU enough and then when they do, we criticize every sentence. Overall the article is fair. Geez, let's act like adults here.

Oh, I don't think the team will collapse and I'm not worried about anyone in the media who suggests that. Even if the Hoyas had lost yesterday I wouldn't have been overly worried about that . However I do think the lack of depth means that instead of playing for first place in the Big East the Hoyas will likely end up playing for fourth or fifth best in the conference. If I end up wrong then I certainly will (happily) own up to it at season's end but right now its a concern to me.

I don't know, i though the column was pretty accurate and objective.
We stunk it up in the 1st half and played great in the 2nd half.
We don't have much depth.
We looked great against UCONN last year, and then took a nosedive the rest of the way.
Thus, its hard to conclude how the rest of the season will turn out based on the victory and tough Big East schedule the rest of the way, with a great starting 5 and limited bench.
Great win, nonetheless.
What was so bad in what she wrote? Where did she slam our team?
She happens to be a fairly good columnist. The critique about her physical appearence is unnecessary and childish. She is a professional doing her job. A good one, i might add.

The problem, among other things is the column us boring, is a rehash of the game recap and provides no insight or original thought. A monkey named Reginald could have banged out something as interesting. I don't know, i though the column was pretty accurate and objective. Seriously, what "inside" information are you expecting out of her first column? And to take potshots at her physical appearance is just embarrassing to the rest of the fan base. Grow up. I'm expecting SOMETHING that I wouldn't get from sitting at home reading this board or watching the game. It's not an outrageous thing to ask for when you are talking about a paper that is supposed to be supplying a local sports beat. I can't imagine someone writing a weird rationalization like the one above if you're talking about the Post and a pro game. Ken Denlinger, as much as I didn't like his stuff, always provided me something that I didn't get from watching the game on TV - whether it was the details of the tire roll or a quote I didn't see elsewhere, or who was in the stands. There are tons of things that just go unreported all the time that you get from being in the arena - much less being in the arena with a press badge - that you don't get from watching or listening to the games. If you're not going to report those things, what is the purpose of a press pass?

We always whine that the Post does not cover GU enough and then when they do, we criticize every sentence. Overall the article is fair. Geez, let's act like adults here. On the first part, I'm becoming less and less convinced of the need for the Post to cover Georgetown. This message board and similar websites (heck, there are even podcasts) serve the need for die-hard fans. ESPN gave it expansive pregame coverage (I was actually much more concerned about a truncated game review on Sportscenter, but on ESPN.com the summary included the comeback and was well-done. I'd like The Post to cover Georgetown more and more in-depth, but, if they don't, eh - there are still enough other places to get coverage.
