We don't recruit well enough? The three McDonald's All-Americans, plus the one would have been McDonald's All-American, plus the Met player of the year all say hello. Nate Lubick says how ya doin? Markel Starks says don't forget about me. We don't recruit well enough? Hogwash! Ah.... the sweet sound of sanity.

No. We want a team composed entirely of McD All-Americans... most of whom will be unhappy with their playing time and... decide to transfer out... but blame the transfer on the "system"... which gives everyone here on Hoyatalk lots to discuss and debate.

and im not taking anything away from any of the high profile recruits that we do have but to say we should pass on a top SF is just ridiculous at the rate we've been going...

Can someone explain to me why there is some sentiment that Roscoe has burned the bridge with us? A bridge isn't burned just because a kid chooses another school. JT3 is a big boy, and I'm sure he understands that he will lose more recruiting battles than he will win. I'm sure he isn't one to hold a grudge about losing, especially if the kid later decides that he wants to change his mind. Unless there is some evidence that Roscoe made some promise to JT3 before committing to UConn or some other shenanigans, none of which I've seen any evidence of on this board, I see no reason to think that a bridge has been burned. That said, I've also seen no evidence to think that the kid is changing his mind.

People may be referring to the report that once Roscoe committed to UConn the day before our game versus the Huskies, the Hoyas revoked the tickets they set aside for Roscoe. Under the circumstances, I don't know what else you would expect Georgetown to do.
That's the only thing I know of that may have people thinking a bridge may have been burned between the Hoyas and Roscoe.
I've seen the kid play a few times and although I don't get all the hype, this team could definitely use a 3 in the next two classes and since we have the schollies, I'd take him in a heartbeat and coach him up.

Deacon, you're right. I think I recall someone suggesting that we had to do that under NCAA rules, but even if not, it's pretty slimy to be giving tickets to a recruit after the kid has committed elsewhere. Tickets are about recruiting, and we stopped recruiting him when he gave his verbal. Hardly evidence of any hard feelings, though.

Their are rumors in NY that Calhoun might be set to retire after the season. With Roscoe w/ only a "verbal" to uconn he might be back on the market soon!!

Since it looks like we are getting Bowen, this is probably done.

No thanks. Roscoe and his entitlement attitude can look elsewhere if he decides to open it up.

While I agree that the ship has likely sailed - let's please try not to bash the kid. JTIII recruited him for a long time and clearly believes he is a player that could help our program. My guess is no one on this board personally knows the kid well enough to attack his character, and it would be ridiculous to hate a kid just for choosing another program after giving ours a serious look.
While it is not guaranteed, there is definitely a chance that we will have an additional scholarship if Greg leaves, and we may be looking for another player when/if Roscoe returns to the market...

Let's say hypothetically he decommitted from UConn because Calhoun retired. Does everyone think we wouldn't take him? I mean, we were in his top 3, we are looking for a wing player in 2010, and he's supposedly a better player than Bowen. Why not hold off and see if we could rekindle the interest?
