The "W" is only the important thing to him - so he left the school that took him to a final 4 and back to back BE titles for a rebuilding program? I think its pretty clear he cares a whole lot more about his own pt. Nothing wrong with that, just wish he didn't feel the need to trash the program to stroke his own ego.

He needs to play a game and shoot 40 percent from the field before he runs his mouth about the offense holding him back.

Meh, nothing new. Hopefully he starts letting his game do the talking. Oh wait...
I think we missed his defense and ball-handling last year, but we did not miss his passes into the second row or horrendous jump shots. Overall, good riddance, Jeremiah.

Of course the Hoya offense interfered with his free-throw shooting. He had to be the same place on the court every time he took a shot and that did not help him against the free-throw defenses he kept encountering.

Who cares what he says and why does it continue to get play here? The only risk to the Hoyas would be if it hurts recruiting and the flexibility or inflexibility of JT III's system is an ongoing issue worthy of our discussion. The opinion of a former player who left for another program is not. Wonder what Julian Vaughn thinks about Florida State's program--who cares?

Was the play he ran 3 or 4 times in a row the "halfcourt spin move then pass to the other team" play?

Wait, who? I don't recognize that picture, but that may be because I poked my eyes with sharp objects every time he was about to shoot.

mr. rivers had better put up 17 points and six assists per game or he's gonna look awfully stupid.....I for one thought he had nba potential, just needed a jumper....lets just take the high road as fans...it seems like he's happy where he's at, and we're happy with who we have....call it a day

That Creek kid will probably start over him at IU which is going to be in the bottom of the league again while they continue to rebuild from Sampson.

dcc33.... He has to stroke his ego.... it's the only stroke he's got. And how many times did JR have to run the same play 3 or 4 times in a row? He was rarely on the floor long enough to even try. Plus, if you run it 4 times in a row and eff it up 2 of the 4 times, you NEED to run it again. JR's perception of his talents is almost as good as his jumpshot. Enjoy riding the pine at a lesser school. Peace!

It's just talk. I can't wait for the season to get started, so we can see what is what!
If JR does break out as a good offensive player, rightly or wrongly, it will be perceived by some as an indictment of the way he was utilized at GU.
I highly doubt that will happen.

This is a real low blow. The bottom line is that he WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. He's the only player I've ever seen hit all backboard twice in one game from mid-range jump shots. Sure he was okay defensively- but was he ever really going to get playing time over Wright or Freeman? No. And I for one will take Jason Clark over Rivers all day, Jason can catch the ball, and his upside offensively is far greater.

Exactly, this guy was left wide open game after game due to his inability to shoot the ball. How many leads did we lose when he entered the game because the opposition (mainly his man) would simply double the post (denying entry) while watching him brick a shot or force a turnover due to his lack of confidence in his shot. The nerve.

Rightly or wrongly, if Baby Doc (or VMack) have stellar years this season, many of us around here are going to be asking "what if" they had had the patience, etc., to stick around here for a full four years.

He never did the same thing 3 or 4 times in a row! He had a very diverse game:
1. Spin move, get ball stolen. 2. Drive recklessly. Get to free throw line. Hit 1 of 2. (This is as good as it's getting for him.) 3. Spin move, pass to other team. 4. Stand in corner. Catch pass. Three pointer off side of backboard.
What a -head. I hope he plays a lot this year and puts up the abysmal numbers that we all expect.

At the end of the year when you compare Clark's soph year to Rivers, I believe you will see much better numbers from Clark.

I repeat my statement from last week: I have no curiosity about Jeremiah Rivers whatsoever.
If he needs to do this to boost his own confidence, or ego, or whatever, so be it. I think most of us know he's full of it with this type of statement.
I've moved on. I'm pretty sure Georgetown has moved on. It would probably behoove Jeremiah Rivers to move on as well.

Eh, I for one am just glad that the season is finally almost upon us (well, at least in a month). After months of the people on this board that have tried to defend this team and people that have trashed it, we'll finally have something about THIS YEAR'S TEAM to base these discussions on. This team will either show that last year was a fluke, or not. I'm hoping and think it will be the former.
Rivers will either show that he can play as well as he can run his mouth, or won't. Frankly, the latter seems more likely.
Honestly, I used to appreciate Rivers for his defense, but I think he needs to get real. And I think Clark has a much higher ceiling--if he just fixes his dribble, I think his defense is comprable to Rivers and he won't be an offensive liability.
