Great game for the Hoyas against Wake Forest. This is the first I've seen of the ladies this year, and I definitely advise people who like a faster tempo game to come and watch this team. It was a really well played game and was exciting the entire way. Got me extremely pumped for the men's game

As expected, the ladies demolished something called "Southwest Baptist," 82-41. That 3-point loss at JMU in the second game of the season is also looking much less bad, considering Madison just knocked off a ranked UVA squad.

Apparently a D2 school that brings its own one man radio crew to an away game, weird. I definitely think the ladies are going to be a force this year, NCAA's shouldn't be an unreasonable goal

I'm sorry but with the teams we've beaten and lost to we should be receiving upwards of 30 votes+. It's pathetic that we are still not receiving votes in the AP poll. What do we have to do? Beat UConn?

How does a Division II school in Bolivar, Missouri (whose furthest road trip outside GU will be to Quincy, IL) end up on a one game road trip east to Washington? And why did Georgetown schedule this?

I thought for sure they had to have a kid or 2 from MD or VA that was getting to play before the home folks. But no such luck when I looked at the roster - all from around there or TX. So I am left with the idea they just wanted to visit the Smithsonian ;D

They are thinking of going Div I in the future and wanted to see the level of competition themselves?

Sources advise that Pops hijacked scheduling for the week and had a contact there who had previously been with Hawaii-Hilo.

Coach Williams-Flournoy was an assistant for two years at Southwest Missouri State (now Missouri State University), so I'm guessing she made a contact somewhere in her time in the state.

The women do their part in the Georgetown Basketball Initiative to Avenge the Football Team's Defeats:
Monica McNutt (Holy Cross) scored a career-high 24 points and Georgetown defeated Richmond, 78-63, at Robins Center. The Hoyas (9-2) have won eight in a row, their longest winning streak since the 1992-93 season.
Georgetown made up for its season-high 22 turnovers by shooting 50.9 percent from the floor overall and 47.6 percent from three-point range. McNutt made five of the Hoyas' 10 three-pointers. Jaleesa Butler recorded her second double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Richmond fell to 7-3.

Knowing nothing about TCU and Xavier, and only going on optimism about our team, I feel like this bracket would lead to a Sweet 16 showdown between the Lady Hoyas and the Lady (Blue) Devils

Women sitting on a #29 rpi ranking currently, seems to be one of the higher ranks in recent (like the last 15 years) history.
If they can pick up couple more wins against the ACC (NC State and at Clemson) and not drop one to Jacksonville State on Sunday, they could definitely be ranked, and likely crack the top 20 RPI by the time BIG EAST play rolls around on 1/02/10 at Syracuse.
(One nice schedule note is that the Hoyas don't play at UConn until the end of the season).

I think the last time the women were ranked may have been around 1993 or so. (That seems to be the last time they went to the tournament).
GUHoyas.com doesn't seem to be much help. It appears they don't do game notes as MBB and Football do, or at least they don't release them on the site.

Per the front page, Meredith Cox's career comes to an end due to an undisclosed injury: ydr.inyork.com/ci_13829256. In my opinion, this is sad to hear, because she was a pretty good 3-point threat off the bench (guess we could have used her in that game against JMU). It seemed last season that her minutes diminished from the previous seasons, but she always seemed to have a decent stroke I have to pay more attention. After every game I have looked in the box score for Meredith's name, as I knew she was a three point threat, and then today looked at the roster with her name nowhere to be found. Sorry to find out about this injury. I sure she is leading the cheers for the women. I enjoy her interviews with various sports figures at Georgetown. Her injury must be pretty bad, since she could claim a medical redshirt for this year, but apparently the injury is career ending.
