Maybe I'm splitting hairs with the front page article, but we did have Midnight Madness once pre-Esherick. JT gave us one to kick off the 1995-1996 season. There was begging involved.

Okay, I'm excited. A friend that I saw at church yesterday, who is a big BE fan (Pitt) reminded me that Friday is the start of practice. Anybody know if they are having an internet feed for this? They had it at least one year, and it was great. Probably not, since ESPN is doing it.

That's a good point. Like I said before, I am guessing that the Hoya segment will be in the first hour, paired with UConn and Duke, but that's just a guess. In any case, they should be able to provide a continuous streaming feed for each venue since they are there anyway. Please post when anyone finds out for sure.

From the GU release: "One of the highlights of the evening will be the unveiling of former Georgetown standout DaJuan Summers' NBA jersey on the back wall of McDonough Arena."
Isn't this a little presumptuous? Summers is a second round NBA pick and is not yet guaranteed a roster spot on opening night, just as PE Jr. wasn't a lock for the Knicks.
Then again, they still don't have the pre-1972 era jerseys up there, but that's for another post.

I thought he signed a two year deal. nba.comIt doesn't say the length there, but somewhere else I think it was reported it was a two year deal.

I always thought the requirement to get your jersey up on the wall was that you be drafted by an NBA team, not that you play in the NBA. Could be wrong...

The criteria appears to be getting drafted AND making the team. Summers got drafted and then was signed to a two year contract. That means he will be on the Pistons' roster this season which is different from Ewing Jr's situation. Guys like Sam Young and DeJuan Blair were also second round draft picks like Summers who got guarantee deals.

I like that $10,000 challenge. Don't know if it has been part of the schedule before.

Last year, I think they had the guest announcer challenge, which required more relevant skill, I suppose.

Anyone see the Midnight Madness video preview on the side of guhoyas.com? I'm not really sure what to say of it: I like the highlights they show and the choice of music, but can't say I am a fan of the repetition of "Our ..."; really hope this doesn't transfer to be the opening video at the Booth (minus the last screen obviously)

I like the music, the video, even the script. The kids do their best, it just comes off a bit off, probably because they aren't professional voice actors. But not bad, and if that's the opening, I think it'll grow on people.

It seems that it's something like a combination of being drafted and making the roster (or signing an NBA contract), but generally, I'm not sure.
If Bowman or PEJr gets onto an NBA roster, I imagine they'll get up there at some point. However, which team's jersey will be on there is a whole different story -- seems to be the first team you play with, not necessarily the team that drafts you if there's a draft-night trade.
