it would be VERY exciting if henry and julian came out early for midnite madness for halloween DRESSED IN A TWO HEADED MONSTER OUTFit THAT WOULD BE SOOOOO COOLL GO HOYAS Possibly not. Their vision might be impaired, causing them to fall and injure themselves, thereby ruining the season. Let's ban fun as unproductive.

As long as you don't cloak your arguments in kente cloth, knock yourself out on facilities.

I am down with the criticisms -- after last season, these kids don't deserve a midnight madness. In fact, I don't think fans should be cheering at all until the fellas start winning some games. This cheering and encouraging will surely be impeding focus on basketball improvement.
And that lackluster Saturday practice that may result from allowing the players to bask in self-idolatry during MM? I shudder even thinking about how JTIII is going to right the ship from there.
After reading through these three pages, the only rational explanation I have for this thread is that someone is pulling a BuffaloHoya "jump the shark" thing here.

Christmas is a much bigger distraction than Midnight Madness, and it has nothing to do with basketball and occurs in the middle of the season. JTIII should ban all Christmas-related activities and events for the players.

Classes and women need to be removed from campus!

Christmas is a much bigger distraction than Midnight Madness, and it has nothing to do with basketball and occurs in the middle of the season. JTIII should ban all Christmas-related activities and events for the players. In the past, the players were not released from the DC area for Thanksgiving, and a few years ago Mrs. Thompson hosted dinner so the players could keep a practice schedule, the parameters for which are set by the NCAA. I am not sure whether this still takes place. All told, I think the issue has run its course. We can all enjoy Midnight Madness or discuss things without personal attacks, echoing CA's point, and, to the extent anyone took personal offense to my comments, I apologize. No offense was intended. Satire, on the other hand, is good stuff.

That said, it's like a half an hour program (maybe an hour now?) and so I think there'll be five minutes or less discussion of GU. But still cool.

"Send it in, Canellis!" Not sure who he is, but great that we have Raf.
And UConn gets stuck with one Doug Gottlieb. Haha.

Perhaps we should offer bodyguards and bullet-proof vests to Fran and others who have to go to Phog.

I'm pretty sure the original shows were an hour, back when it was actually a "real" midnight mandness. I would guess that if they are going to the expense of sending crews to 9 different venues, that they will make a bigger production out of it -- especially since it can now start at a much more attractive time. Given that there are 9 different venues, it might make sense for them to devote 3 hours to the program and feature 3 schools per hour. Just a guess ...
If so, then maybe: (and this makes a bit of geographic/time related sense)
Georgetown, Duke and UConn in the first hour ...
Kentucky, Kansas and Michigan St in the second ....
and
UNC, North Dakota State and Washington in the third
Yeah, I know that UNC is sort of the "odd man out" there, but still, that is the order the list is in, so I am going to make an uneducated guess

It's the Uconn women's team not the men's.

According to facebok, ESPNU will be broadcasting Georgetown's midnight madness. For those who have seen it in the past, I assume the coverage isn't very extensive and they jump between midnight madnesses. Yes, if it's anything like last year, they will probably jump around between Midnight Madnesses at different schools. Still, it's cool seeing coach, the players, and the students at McDonough. Those light-up pom-poms or whatever they were looked really cool on TV. It is great to see the growth of this event at Georgetown. When I arrived on-campus in 2003, there was no giant video screen outside, so GUGS burgers beforehand, no ESPNU, and while McDonough still eventually filled up, there were no long lines to Yates or people getting turned away. We've come a long ways, and hopefully we are continuing to grow. And yeah, hope Raf is there again this year. And if we're really lucky, getting hammered at the Tombs with the undergrads after the Madness. We've certainly come a long way from the 1998 "Midinght" Madness t-shirt experience.
