Coach K is really running his mouth in Duke's press release-"Our league (ACC) is the best league, we have been number 1. Our non-conference schedule is the best...etc." Either he thinks he's got it in the bag with the refs or he thinks our guys can't read. He is really throwing down the gauntlet. Exactly, the fact that he is saying this isn't really what bugs me(even though I find it ridiculous)its more the fact that he is saying it all less than 24 hours before he plays a Big East team. There is no way he says this stuff if he thinks there is any real chance his team can lose, or atleast thats how other people think. IF we do somehow win, how the heck is he going to respond to the questions about if the ACC is the best how come the best or second best team couldn't beat the 7th or 8th Big East team? The answer is he doesn't think there is a chance he will have to answer such question. I think the keys to this game are just don't get panicked even if we go down by a few points and to just play our game, not think to much, take care of the ball, and try to exploit our athleticsim whenever we are give the opportunity. As long as we do those things we should be able to keep it a competitive game even if our shots aren't falling and everyone but Hollis Thompson is in foul trouble. Now if our shots ARE falling and no one is in serious foul trouble, than I really like our chances, but you can't count on either of those playing Duke in Cameron. Also all this talk about the better league, is ridiculous. For one its January, just because Duke, Wake and UNC are the top 5 teams in the country now, doesn't mean they will be come March, which is most important. Second its almost impossible to compare the ACC's top 5 to the Big East, because the Big East is so good no one knows who the top 4 teams are. Finally, when people say you can't take a night off in the ACC as if you can in the Big East, I can't help but laugh. I mean South Florida was in a 5 point game with Pitt until the last 5 minutes, St Johns beat Notre Dame and kept it competitive most of the game against Uconn. I mean the list's can go on. When you are comparing the top of the leauges it is stupid to do in January, as so many teams have so much room for improvement and to blossom into great teams.

HOWEVER, this is maybe the most amazing comment from one of the boards: By the way, if Monroe takes a lot of grief and ups his game, two guys to watch out for are Mr. Sapp and a little known dude, Omar Wattad (I think that that is the spelling). Sapp will shut you down and, when things get intense, he has been known to find some game on the offensive end. This Omar kid, you do not want him guarding you, you do not want him on the floor when you have the ball. I do not care who you are. And, the wilder, more intense, things are, let me put it this way--you collide with him on the court, and you remember it for a lifetime. Those two guys, along with Freeman, present a kind of physical strength, a solidness, that makes having to attack them, or going for loose balls or long rebounds against them, a very formidable experience. (emphasis added). Do you think Coach knows Omar posts on the Duke Board? Their board is good and yes, very respectful if not downright scared. IFF the refs try to give this game to Duke the same way they tried to let 'cuse back in Wed night, I want to see III ejected. I just rewatched the second half and the number of non-calls was scary, just terrible. If Puke is getting all the calls and our guys are running uphill, III might as well get himself T'd up a couple of times and make it clear that he will not sit quietly and watch his guys get hacked. As for the comment somewhere back there about 'making your fouls count, Big East fouls, not ACC fouls," I agree only at the point in which it is inevitable. Once they make you run up hill, you might as well run with scissors, but until then, we play best when we play clean. When was the last non-tournament week when we had to games this good - rivals, match ups, rankings, everything to Edited a spouse off...

Georgetown is going to Durham NC to show the nation just how good our young team is. However well they play Saturday, the Hoyas will be even better -- significantly better -- come March!

Clemson is #10!? I've got to start paying more attention. With UNC, Wake, Clemson, and Duke, the ACC must be the best conference this year, right? Right? A link on K: “It just seems that people always are talking about the Big East,” Krzyzewski said Friday. “I think it’s been more of a surface-level look at things instead of an in-depth look, and I think when you take an in-depth look, our league is the toughest league. I don’t think there’s any question about it. Their league’s great–don’t get me wron–but to me, it seems easy to see. We have four teams in the top 10, and the bottom teams, thus far, are giving the top teams battles and winningsome. I think that’s what we call a great league.” And more: “From the get-go, the Big East has put out nine teams, maybe 10 teams,” he said. “You’ve never heard anyone in the ACC saying, ‘We’ve got to get six, maybe seven,’ but why wouldn’t we say that? Why shouldn’t we? I think we should. But we don’t, and we haven’t done it for a while, and we end up getting four or five. And we say we were messed over, but you can’t start talking about it at the end. You have to talk about it as it’s going on.” Sounds to me like Joe Alexander hurt someone's feelings.

Looking for a solid game--hoping for a win, but in that place, if we play well and grow, that's all we can ask. A lot of forces going against you there. I'm trying to prepare for everything from us stinking up the joint to us blowing them out of their building. I certainly think it will be somewhere in between, and no matter where we are, I like our chances in a close game at the end.......
