Is anybody going to be able to give updates from this weekend's NBPA Top 100?? I'm hoping Starks can serve up the competition.

Is anybody going to be able to give updates from this weekend's NBPA Top 100?? I'm hoping Starks can serve up the competition. We will try as always. As for Markel, this is his first competition back so it is just good that he is back 100%. In the video we just saw I think we all could tell that he was not as sharp with his handles and finishing shots like he normally is, so it would be great if he plays at a high level during camp. I am hopeful (but realistic) on this camp's expectations for Markel. Probably some up and down moments...

He really impressed me in that video by how well spoken he is. Very mature for his age.
Also, we finally got his thread into the 100's post wise. Maybe by the time he is a senior at Gtown it will reach the length of Latavious Williams thread... probably not.

Don't want to turn this Starks update thread into a long player debate. So I will just say that they are completely different players. Starks is a pure PG, while Clark is a combo (more SG right now). A great pure PG in college is normally more valuable.

Per espn
• 2010 point guard prospect Markel Starks (North Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Prep, Committed to Georgetown) was also impressive. Starks showed he can run a team, and did a great job reading the on-ball screen. He knew when to turn the corner and get to the rim. He also knew when to drive, when to draw the defender and pass the ball out and when to shoot the 3.

yeah, brasky. i like Markel's decision making. it has really gotten better under Coach Bryant. It will only get better at GTOWN under JT3. offensively i could not be happier with who we got as a PG from 2010.

Sounds like a good kid, and I like the honest self-evaluation regarding his defense. I don't think we'll have to worry about GU not "showcasing his skills."

Markel sounds great.
He picked Georgetown for the same reasons I did. For all the logical reasons behind it as a possible choice for both of us, the key was that when we visited, we fell in love with it.
(Which is why I think people's complete rational analysis of why a kid will choose school X is always flawed).

Good to hear Markel knows what he needs to work on.

www.slamonline.com/online/blogs/school-daze-by-aggrey-sam/2009/06/nba-past-present-and-future/Markel Starks, 6-2 rising senior point guard, Georgetown Prep (MD): Starks, a Georgetown commit (with his school’s name and proximity to DC, go figure), alternated between being a true point and a scorer here. While his usually-reliable J wasn’t always on target, he got into the paint at will with his tight handle and generally kept his teammates happy with his solid decision-making.

LIC .. ITS BEEN REPORTED ON NUMEROUS SITES that he has indeed sent his LOI in to GU ... still not confirmed by the University .. but I'm sure its a done deal ... we should be hearing something soon.. You should still be celebrating our win to kick off the season .. we will be ok and I think this team can be special once we get rolling ..
