www.gazette.net/stories/11262008/aspespo122459_32479.shtmlnice local piece on markel. i like this quote from Coach Bryant: "He's just a special player. He passes the ball extremely well. He's a phenomenal ball-handler and he shoots the ball extremely well. At this point in his career, I don't know if I've seen a more skilled player at his position."

Some of his moves are ridiculous and he has great acceleration. Based on these videos, he seems like he sees the court really well. Can you imagine a backcourt of Wright and Starks? Oh man.

Markel scored 15pts in a loss to Bishop McNamara(ESPN #31 in top 50). Final was 64-62. Markel is #5 in the highlights... Minute marker 2:42 wow! capitolhoops.com/gameoftheweek.htm

would love to see by the end of the year his rep be better than thornton, selby and marshall nationally. from what i have seen and heard he is the most complete of the bunch, just doesn t have the hype yet. that said i am glad we got him.

Thanks Tony. Great write-up! JT3 really wanted Tyler Thornton, but quickly offered Markel once Thornton committed to Duke. But my guess is JT3 might have lucked out because Starks is looking better and better.

RDF and others, is Markel a Top 25-type player? Is he going to project as a real star for us -- I'm talking like Chris?

great little piece on the little hoya...loved the way when asked if he would be able to take that big shot at the end and said of course I'll take the shot but it really depends on who is "on" that day. Seem's to be the perfect kind of kid for our program unselfish but deadlyyyy. Can't wait to see him in a big Hoyas uni

Very impressive piece on Starks... and on Dwayne Bryant too. He should have the opportunity as a frosh to learn from Chris Wright, just as Chris learned from Jon.
We have some outstanding pieces on the current team, and incoming guys. National Championship caliber pieces. But we need a few more so as to take maximum advantage for GU when these guys are here.
Gotta love the part about beating Duke, and "watching the student body and the whole city graviate to Georgetown Basketball!"
