RDF how many IAC games did you watch this season? Don't mean to be a jerk asking that I'm honestly asking if you saw these kids in person. Anyway I think starks has the most "upside" but don't denigrate Kalipinde just because he's not going to a glamour school. I read a profile of him in the Post and one of the coaches who brought him to the States has LMU connections - a big factor in his early commitment there before the bigs were onto him. Starks will be great for us, but I just think Kalipinde was better this season. Didn't see enough of Webber to opine. Look those other kids are solid players not high level, but Starks is an elite talent. It is easy to monday morning quartback after the kid gets hurt, but where were all three teams head to head before Starks injury. oh yeah the thing about that game is that Markel got injured very early in the second half and his team was still able to beat landon by a good margin, 16 i think.. that just shows you how much the rest of his team can do

I haven't seen any of these IAC players in person but I do know typically the talent on these squads isn't that great. No one that I know of who keeps up with the DC high school hoops scene is hyped over any GTown Prep player other than Starks. So if Kalipinde can't even get his team close to Prep when Starks is taken out the game, well, that suggests a lot if you ask me. Robert Olsen should not be enough to stop Kalipinde from getting Landon closer than 16 points.

Would have been pretty tough for Kalipinde to keep Landon closer to Gtown Prep in that game...since he plays for Episcopal. Agree on the talent level though - these schools are a far cry from WCAC caliber. Kalipinde is very good though and could hold his own in that league, as could Starks.

Like I said with the IAC I don't keep us as much with it as I should. I barely kept up with my beloved WCAC this season. The less said about the stuff that went down at DeMatha the better.

I eard the players at Dematha were apy he didnt come back. Yeah, and considering how much coach Jones tries to help and do right by his players, it says a lot that he would kick Shelby off of his Dematha. Maybe this is wrong of me but anyone who would choose a Bruce Pearl headband-wearing program is someone whose character I may wonder about. Can you say "cancer"?

In balla's epic thread on the main board, he made a comment about Starks graduating early/reclassifying as an '09.
Was that just wishful thinking? Or has there actually been some legitimate chatter on this?

Markel has been not out on the circuit this spring so there has been less press/sightings of him. but i hear he is 100% back from his injury and that is the most important thing.

Markel now #69 on ESPN rankings. Behind Gary Franklin, who I've watched many times being from Socal, I'm not sure about that.....

also copying what RDF wrote in Rock summer league thread:
"Markel Starks Georgetown Prep - Could possibly be the quickest point guard in the country right now. Starks scored a night high 25pts including five NBA range 3pt field goals. The Georgetown commit was fine tuning some of his mechanics for this weekend's NBPA Top 100 camp at the University of Virginia in which he will attend.
Starks was player of night last night--and Prep is 4-0. He made his "debut" last night."
Look like someone has been in the weight room doing some work. Jumper/mechanics are much smoother also.

I'm in love. What a smooth, effortless stroke. That'll open up the driving lanes nicely.

You can tell he is shaking off the rust, because he normally explodes past people with his tight handles and finishes those floaters and shots in the lane...
