krukster just havent seen it here so worried you know me WELCOME MR. STARKS YES onto the hilltop another jr. hoya becomes a senior hoya go hoyas I don't understand why you would worry. There has been absolutely no suggestion that Markel was having second thoughts about Gtown. And considering Markel is not exactly Harrison Barnes and Gtown isn't exactly Kentucky or UNC, we should not be surprised that the media isn't exactly invested in reporting on his signing in a timely manner. And of course Gtown's reluctance still to share info with the media doesn't help.

Gtown typically doesn't announce anything until the end of the early signing period.

From a blog "Georgetown has verbals from Nate Lubick and Markel Starks, but the Hoyas are not prepared to announce their signings just yet. "If we have a signing release, we will send it to everyone," Bill Shapland, the senior sports communication director at Georgetown, said in an e-mail."

Markel got 24 points, including 4 from behind the arc in Georgetown Prep's losing effort to Ireton, 51-54.

Nice! Though I feel bad for Markel that he essentially scored half of the points for his team only to pick up a loss. C'mon Baby Hoyas!

I'd be willing to lay odds (if I were a betting man) that Ed means four three point baskets. Big odds.

I certainly hope so, but I've been following Markel (in person) for years, and just as capable as he is of going 4-7 from behind the arc, he is also prone to shooting 1-8 from the same range.

Saw Markel tonight in Georgetown Prep's thrilling 51-49 victory over Carroll.
First time seeing him, and I was impressed for the most part. Outstanding ballhandler and court vision. Quick first step and shows a burst on his way to the basket. Very good court demeanor and it's apparent that his teammates feed off of him and he's a more than willing floor general. Good defender. Also showed a nice touch at the line. Looked to be about 6'2", 180.
However, he made more than his fair share of unforced errors and seemed to force things at times, but then again, the players around him just aren't that good, so it's somewhat understandable. Picked up a few cheap fouls reaching a little too much, and had to sit a good portion of the third and fourth quarters with four fouls.
Finished with 11 points buy my count and a few dimes.
All in all, a good first impression as it was apparent he was the best player on the floor. His ballhandling, court vision and defensive intensity alone have me excited about what he'll bring to the team next season, but would like to see him play under control a little more.

Markel had 37pts (made 7 3's) last night in Prep's 78-63 win out in Vegas Amare Stoudemire tournament. No stats provided for Prep's win on Sunday--which was 70-52.
They play former Hoya Demetrius Hunter's team Cheyenne HS tonight and then depending on outcome--the winner/loser of Fairfax HS CA or Durango HS NV.

Great to hear Markel is playing so well. Very excited about a future backcourt of Vee, Markel and Jason.... seems solid.

Markel and G'Town Prep advanced to the FINALS with a win tonight:
Cheyenne 62 @ Georgetown Prep (Md.) 68 FINAL
Not sure of the stats yet , but they play the winner of the following (Fairfax HS , Ca Vs. Durango HS , NV) which is being played right now. Congrats Markel and Good Luck tomorrow!
