Based on Sagarin, the opening line should have us getting 8-9 points which seems like a lot. I smell a profit opportunity.

BC as a dog at Providence seems insane. Sagarin would have it as pick 'em.

New to the boards, but have been reading them religiously for a while. Nice win last night by the Hoyas, but the Redmen got way too many offensive boards - one of their guards had 5 according to the box score. With the way Dudley shoots, and Craig Smith's size, we need to keep BC off the boards and limit their chances. And as long as we can continue to shut down 3-point opportunities as we did against ND and St. John's, I think we will hold em.

The line is moving on the game now... (just in case you are curious) ...pick 'em. It pays to get up early.
Boards really could become an issue - but I was glad to see that the Hoyas know it. Cook from Barker's article in the Times "I feel that we're playing very well right now, but we still need to get a lot better," Cook said. "There's still a lot of season left. ... I think the main thing we need to work on right now is our rebounding."
Knowing is half the battle. Now hit the gym and practice some free throws while you are at it. Started out soso good, but the late free throws just weren't falling.

why in god's name is BC a +1.5 dog at Providence tonight? 1. due for a loss 2. PC played them close (relatively) at Conte 3. don't forget the real purpose: lines like these are set to attract money from both sides...

I'd sure like for the Hoyas to be the first to bid the BAC Eagles "farewell".

I want BC to win a tough, mucked-up, physical game that takes a lot out of them. Then come Saturday, with myself and others in the stands, the Hoyas kick the living you-know-what out of these ACC dopes.
GO HOYAS!!!

You know what would be nice? If, after the game, people were complaining on the BC board about how the GTown fans were dominating the BC fans. How Conte didn't really feel like a home court, how they got out yelled, out cheered and their team got outhustled and outplayed. I get the sense there will be enough of a Hoya presence to pull this off if everyone gets into it. From what my friends at BC are telling me, pretty much everyone just started hopping on the bandwagon-they're still in GTown before ND fan mode. It'd be nice to send them off to the ACC w/ a complete domination, both on the court and in the stands.

scared of Craig Smith - don't know if we have encountered someone of his physical strength this season --> watched him beat up josh boone underneath in highlights from the UConn game at Storrs...maybe an Augustine or Powell have some of the same dimensions, but we gotta find a way to contain Craig Smith - he killed us last year...
As for Dudley, not too concerned because our perimeter defense has been quite good and if we are putting long and rangy brandon on him, i feel good about that matchup...
It's all about CS --> can Green handle him without getting into foul trouble? We will find out.

I think it's a matter of containing Smith and Dudley. Roy's 5 fouls might be the most important thing he can contribute this time. Gotta protect Green this game- he can do damage to Smith on the offensive end. I take Bowman over whomever they start at the 3. Their bench is deeper and more developed than ours- we need some guys, DJ, Ray Ray, and Ramell particularly, to step it up this time.

Personally, I'd love to see them soundly beat PC and come into Conte on Saturday a little too sure of themselves, thinking that while the Hoyas are a challenge, its one they can handle relatively easy. Then, we come out and, as they say in football, punch 'em in the mouth. The key will be starting strong and rebounding-so, the key will be Roy. He needs to make his hooks, box out, use his height advantage both on offense and defense (especially if he's guarding Smith) and not allow himself to be pushed around. Also, Ashanti needs to play well the entire game. He needs to assert himself more in the early part of the game-he tends to be almost a nonfactor early on, while turning it on in the 2nd half (He's scored 10pts the last 2 games in the second half, while only scoring 2 or 3 in the 1st half). That and Bowman and Green need to play the way we expect of them and we should have a good shot at knocking off BC-especially if Wallace goes into Davidson mode and goes off from behind the arc.

i agree - don't want a repeat of the pitt situation where they got beat by bucknell on their home floor. a win is a win - but it's made sweeter by beating b.c. when they are on a high.

This really is the key matchup for us. Green v. Smith is going to be a WAR. As much as I hate to say this, Smith is one of the top 5 talents in the BE this year. Dont know how he wasnt recruited more heavily coming out of college. I could realistically see this game as having big minutes for AKD and maybe Guibunda? as we need to have fresh bodies on Smith to keep Jeff out of foul trouble. Roy will have enough trouble with Doornekamp that he wont be able to be matching up against Smith that often. Also, the rest of the bench, like others have said, is going to have to step up. If we can get 15-20 points from the collection of DJ/Ray/Ramell/Tyler/etc, I think we win this game. As much as I hate BC, I think that overall they are the most talented team we are going to face in the BE this year. That being said, I see this game as a real opportunity for the Hoyas to go out and really shock the world. We definitely have the talent; we have the drive; we have the desire; we have the coach. We're already back - let's shock the world now baby. My dad scored tickets to the game yesterday, so count that in as one more Hoya fan in Conte Forum on Saturday (and he's not even a grad!). I love you Mrs. Green. You deserved FOTG last night.

Oh, don't worry, I definately will. Considering that my tickets are 28 rows back in the upper deck, however, I'm packing a parachute-I won't be rushing the court so much as dropping down on it from above...
