BC is going to beat tonight. They just aren't a top ten team. And they're going to get beaten on Saturday too.
All of which means we'll be sitting in second place in the Big East on Sunday, at 6-2.

I agree with Big Dog as I think BC loses on the road tonight and then we beat at Conte on Saturday. I won't be disappointed with 5-3, but the sound of 6-2 almost brings tears to my eyes.

BC is a very interesting team.
Here is a blurb from an Andy Katz piece on ESPN.COM
"Skinner said the Eagles have bonded and are mentally tough. They have had to be with a victory against UCLA in Anaheim, wins at Connecticut, UMass and West Virginia and, for whatever reason, comeback wins at home to Holy Cross in overtime, Yale in double overtime, Kent State by two at the buzzer after trailing by 18 and Wednesday when they were down by six with under two minutes remaining."
Yale? Holy Cross? Are we to place any significance in BC's struggles with these teams?

Certainly no more that we give to GU's loss to ORU and overtime win over Norfolk St. Yale and Holy Cross are probably as good as ORU and certainly better than NSU.

I'm concerned wiht us getting into foul trouble. Smith and JG should be a great matchup. I think Wallace needs to find his shot and take more shots and Ashanti to have a good 40 min

It seems to me that our fellas have increased their game every time they step on the court. They seem to be shakey when it comes to the first half, but they are still really strong finishers.
If Prov can take them (as well as some of the other weak teams) I think we really have a good chance of having a good 7 point win.
1 point is really all I want, though.

Foul trouble will kill us but I have a feeling that we should definitely win. 3 important things to avoid: 1. Bad free throw shooting 2. Foul trouble 3. Getting beat on the boards

Everyone has said it, BC is unbeaten, but not unbeatable.
At this point, BC expects to stay undefeated until they go to South Bend on February 8 and we are the biggest hurdle in their way. Even morgue-like Conte will be alive on Saturday night as snowbound Bostonians emerge from their winter caves and Patriot-mania (thoug the Mintkiewicz story was probably the most read in the Globe today).
Having seen BC play six times in person and three more time on the tube, I expect our game to be close because BC plays just about everybody close and for that matter, so do we. We need 40 minutes of focus to make this happen and maybe more.
Sean Williams is the wild card risk. He has only come up big against Providence, but he will be motivated to take away Jeff's inside game and he has the tools. Dudley's interior passing and ability to get the ball behind the basket and make big plays has to be offset by a complete effort by Brandon. Put Dudley's basketball IQ in Brandon's body and you have a consensus first team all-american.
If things keep clicking for Ashanti, we can outperform their backcourt. Green avoiding foul trouble (nothing stupid, nothing offensive) has already been mentioned but can not be overstated.
This longest standing rivalry (except for the uneven scheduling glitch two years ago) desreves to end with a classic. Maybe something more memorable than the Frazier 3-pointer on the dumbest foul ever in 80 or the unbelieveable Huckaby game. Would not count myself accursed to miss this game.

BC's guard play is so horrendous i think that RaMell and Crawford could easily start for them. I think the BC big guys get in foul trouble against us. Hopefully Craig Smith is saddled w/ 3 fouls in the 1st half b/c he has killed us in the past. I think Brandon uses his speed on Dudley. I predict a big game for dj. i think his ankle will be healed up and he will be able to take the BC guards off the dribble after sticking a couple threes in their eyes.

A few of you have mentioned a Bowman-Dudley matchup in Saturday's game. But it seems to me that Dudley and Bowman will only match up when both Green and Hibbert are also in the game for the Hoyas (and Hibbert only played 14 minutes against St Johns). More often, I suspect Bowman will guard Smith (or Williams/Doornekamp, I suppose). To my thinking, this Bowman/Smith matchup holds the key to Saturday's game. Can Brandon use his quickness to go around Smith or score from the outside? Can Smith take Bowman down low and score in the post or get him in foul trouble?
Or are you guys thinking Hibbert will play more like 20 or 30 minutes on Saturday, in order to combat BC's size? Personally, I think our offensive flow suffers when we have our bigger lineup in right now. Not sure how JTIII will handle it...

hibbs will play more b/c the matchups are better. st. johns was a small, athletic, and quick group. doesn't fit any of roy's particular strengths. the bc big men are not especially quick and are much more interested in banging. as far as the offense goes, i don't think the lack of flow was so much his fault as much as just the general lack of energy at the beginning of the game. Before the team even got going, hibbs had three.
let's not forget that hibbs had a solid game at the 'cuse when he faced doornekamp's long lost brother forth

Before the team even got going, hibbs had three. let's not forget that hibbs had a solid game at the 'cuse when he faced doornekamp's long lost brother forth Holy crapballs - chinatown just made a post about Roy that didnt bash him! What is the world coming to? Next thing you know, Doug Mientkiewicz will hit .300/30/100 for the Mets next year. Seriously though, BC's backcourt is terrible, no matter what the Boston papers try to tell you. Their real strength lies in their frontcourt (Smith, Dudley, Williams, Doornekamp). If Roy plays regular minutes, the Bowman-Dudley matchup will be one helluva tango. If Roy gets in foul trouble or has a bad game and sits, the Brandon-Smith matchup heavily tilts the game in favor of Smith - there's just no way Brandon can defend a big body like Smith down on the block, he's too tough inside. The reason BC matches up well against us is that if Smith gets into foul trouble, Williams can come in and there's no real significant dropoff in talent. If Jeff gets into foul trouble, and someone like AKD comes in... well, you can see what I'm getting at. If we are going to win this game, we win in the backcourt, with Ashanti having a huge game, Brandon beating Dudley off the ball with his quickness, and Wallace hitting some big shots like he was doing earlier. And like chinatown said, we need a big game from DJ - he has the talent to carry us in a game, maybe this will be the one he steps up in. Or maybe Ramell goes for 30 Saturday night, I really dont know.
