this isnt a slump, this is natural. you shoot 60% when you are by yourself at the gym. 50% during warmups before the game. 40% during a game if you are in the shadows. 30% during a game if you got the spotlight on you. its called nerves. wallace just needs to develop a killer instinct and stop thinking about his shot and just start EXPECTING the ball to go in every time. mental readjustment here, not a slump.

Young squire, I believe the majority of Zombie Nation would like to see Sir Wallace master his craft of kicking 3pt line's gluts and produce some rather joyous moments on the court he partakes his extracurricular activities.
Some want improvement from him/team. I think it's been tabled due to extreme pressure on youngsters to have to attend classes and play a sport. We all know that is a bit much to ask of anyone.
Others want to focus on the shot against UNC last year as the reason to ignore anything this year. Fine by me--I was thinking of the game winning hit I had back in T-ball the other day when I lost an account--and told my boss about it--and to remember that and ignore this setback. He of course wanted to see the video of it--and I told him he'd have to settle for polaroid. We had a good chuckle and moved on. However we agreed--that real life is far less pressure then playing a sport while having an education paid for at one of the most prestigious universities in the country.

And this post indicates how little you know about arguementation and reason. Do you have any logic to support your assertion, or do you prefer to capitalize words and use xclamation points? I have no interest in arguementation for the sake of arguementation. You either know very little about basketball... very little about the Hoyas... or both. Thank you then for the profound insight that you have offered to everyone who had the pleasure of reading your posts in this thread. "You know nothing about basketball" is cutting and insightful analysis, especially when backed up with nothing whatsoever.

I hope he drops in 20 3's tonight and everyone shuts up. (yes 60 pts) I'd settle for 6-8 good shot attempts, protecting the ball, and getting the team in their offense. If he misses all of his shots-and they are good looks--I applaud Jon. If he takes a step back/off the dribble 3--and he and Sapp/Rivers play hot potato 80 feet from basket against pressure--then expect more "discussion". It's up to him--not us to hope to shut up opposing sides of this issue. I want Jon to play well--do you think fans actually would rather have a point proven correct then to see the kids/team win? If so--then you don't get point of this site at all.

Fans like this are FULL OF CRAP. Jeff Green STUNK the early part of last year--and how did the team perform? When he got AGGRESSIVE--how did they play? So the people who were on him for being too passive "ate their words" or were they 1000000000% CORRECT IN THE FRIGGIN' FIRST PLACE? Keep dreaming about the "Wallace making people eat their words" while I'm hoping he gets the film, and decides enough is enough and gets after it on the court--you know in terms of actually ADDRESSING the problem with his play--not hoping it goes away in some sort of friggin "SR Dream Movie-like ending". You know 300+ other teams have SENIORS too--and how does their season end? We all want Wallace and Hoyas to do well-it's just some of us want the problem areas addressed--not avoided to keep someone's feelings from being hurt. You seem a little wound up. Hope you can make it to the game on Monday - I think you'd bring some energy to the place. I'll be in 118, like I always am, and would be happy to discuss how 'full of crap' my state of being as a Hoya fan is. Of course Wallace has to start hitting his shots. Its not like I'm trying to write a Chicken Soup for Jon Wallace's soul here. I just don't think benching the captain is the solution. The difference between the pro-Wallace people and the anti-Wallace people is the amount of confidence we place in him. I have confidence that he will break out of this slump. Why? Because past performances hint that he is a competitor and a precise shooter. Its really as simple as that, and I think he deserves that confidence and respect. Were people really calling for Wallace to sit? Mind you, this is before Wright was available. Wow. HOYA SAXA

Did you really go digging through all of these old threads just so you could toot your own horn and say "I told you so" on a day when all Hoyas fans should be celebrating together as one? Wow. Classy.
(note--I did note participate in this earlier discussion at any point--I'm just disgusted by your need to have your ego massaged on a day like today).

I can see Big Dog's point - my apologies.
Though I'm sure some will agree that the board was way too rough on Wallace for a while there. Not only that, but it wasn't rational. Who would we have replaced him with?

Actually, one of the coolest things about HoyaTalk is that, at a time like this, we can look back on the tenor of the biggest Hoyas fans in the land and compare then to now. I didn't see that as hoyanick massaging his ego ('cause no one on HoyaTalk would [fo]ever do that), but rather bringing up a thread about a player who WAS struggling and IS NOW kicking some serious ass. I recall a similar thing being done re: Jeff Green about this time of year last year .... right after the ND BET game if I'm not mistaken.

This wasn't bringing up the thread--this was digging through the thread to find page 3 where his own comment was so that he could specifically quote that comment. Weak.

Actually, while watching the game today, I remembered this thread and found it pretty amazing that we had even been discussing benching Wallace. Then I went to my own history of posts, and since I don't post much, it was pretty easy to find.
I don't have enough time to premeditate these sort of things - I pressed the quote buttom on the top of the post and replied to the thread.
Once again, sorry. Though if I had done this on purpose, it wouldn't have been the first time in the history of this board - or even today - that someone tries to prove that they were right about something. Not quite sure why Big Dog decided to make an example out of me, but thats the way the cookie crumbled.
Anyways, apologies. Lets go hoyas!

I have concluded that if I could pick any single guard in Georgetown history to lead a team down the stretch of a close game...hands down, without a shadow of a doubt...it would have to be Wallace.

Nobody was talking about benching Wallace--they were talking about his poor play--and he wasn't playing well--if you think so--go back and watch the tapes of the games. Shot selection is a big part of being a good shooter--and if you see the shots Jon was taking back then--and what he's done since the time of the discussion, you'll find your answer.
You want to "dig something up more current"--go to the Pro/College Sports thread and check out the response to BuckeyeNova fan and Ed--in terms of how the game would turn out and come back and say something smart ass.
Basketball discussion is basketball discussion--good, bad, critical or supportive. If someone is not playing well and capable of more--then they should be talked about and when you bring up points as to why things happen--it's not for sake of being "heard" or "drawing attention" as Ed thinks--it's to talk basketball.

RDF, half the posters in the thread were suggesting cutting his minutes and giving them to Rivers, for Pete's sake. Acting like that isn't the same thing as benching is silly.
Just because you may not have advocated it doesn't mean someone didn't.
That said, I hate "I told you so" moves.
