I don't know which part of this is the worst:
Oh wait, I do. It is the part where I'm supposed to root for these bums.

I was watching the highlights of this game on the four-letter network (God Knows we can't actually WATCH the game in DC) and when I saw your boy lay down that bunt it made me giddy thinking about your response. You came through, my man!

Fortunately, Thursday was my first bleacher game of the year - after quite a few Old Stlyes, I was Fully Krausened enough that I didn't really care.
Velvet, the game was on WGN so you should have been able to pick it up on most DC-area cable systems. But I understand your general complaint.

I shudder to think that anyone would drink beer that was unnaturely Krausened. On another note, anyone going to the Cell this weekend for the horrible beatdown? I'll be there Sunday...

On second thought, with the bloodbath going on there right now, maybe I'd better not. Even Maddux sux now.

I'm going Saturday. I shudder to think about what they're going to do to Rich Hill.

I wish Barrett had punched some of his teammates.
Also, I think Rich Hill might actually be a woman. Wait, strike that, a little girl.

After Hill called AJ Eyechart "gutless" and "pathetic":
"Tell that Triple-A [bleep] to shut the [bleep] up," Guillen said. "Tell him to start throwing some strikes or he's going to get Dusty fired."

Its settled. I will be accepting Cubs tickets to any games available. Even with this pathetic gutless team, they are 3-0 when I am attending games. (I think, they won the home opener, correct?)
Therefore, those of you with season tix (looking at you Gold), should plan on giving them to me, and we'll ride this thing all the way to the Series.*

I don't know how I missed it. I'm not gonna lie, though, I'm glad for every second that I didn't know this had happened.
Chicago Cubs - Signed 2B Tony Womack to a minor-league contract.
At this point I have to stop believing that the Cubs haven't read Bill James or any of those theories. I now have to believe that they have in fact read all those stathead bibles and have actively decided to act in the opposite manner.
Tony Womack may be another Jeff Blauser-like signing. How? When Blauser was signed the thought was "Hey, this guy crushes the the ball in Wrigley, he's a real cubkiller. Now he'll play in Wrigley all the time and he'll be great for us."
Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way. Blauser, and now Womack, can't hit Cub pitching anymore, so the Wrigley advantage is gone.
Anyone who believes that Dusty isn't absolutely drooling over bringing Womack up is loony. He's got all Dusty's favorite things: speed, age, the ability to never ever ever take a walk, and general suckitude.

Well at least now they have a capable 5th string 2b, to back up Hairston, Walker, Perez, and whatever young guy they have.

I'm sure Mabry can play 2B in a pinch. & I'll pass the "Luck of FormerHoya" theory onto my dad.

Another lovely outing by the Cubs. 0 hits from the men batting second to sixth? Is that right?
Also, I love that Joe Girardi has a sense of humor. All 3 pitchers used to mow down the Cubs were once young Cubs. I guess "There Is No Such Thing As A Pitching Prospect" doesn't apply to Hendry trades.

Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse....anybody know who is expected to be the No. 1 pick in next June's amateur draft?

Funny, I was just thinking about whether anyone I know has any knowledge of college sophomores / h.s. juniors. Of course, the last Cubs amateur draft star can typically be found visiting his gynecologist. (Or, is it orthopedist? I can never remember).
I'm also thinking that Ozzie Guillen deliberately threw Game 3 of the series at the Cell, knowing that if Dusty got fired, he might not win the series at Wrigley in July.

With all the talk of the AAA Marlins, perhaps the Cubs should do us all a favor and do a wholesale swap of the teams headquartered on the North Side and Des Moines. Couldn't be any worse.
Admittedly, I try not to recall the worst times, but is this the worst streak ever? Or does it just seem that way because the Cubs somehow managed to raise my expectations in the last few years?
It is weird though, I somehow don't hate these guys like I do the '04 team. Yet.

Despite being 0-4 for May, and sucking huge again today, we need Maddux out there.
For his bat. Better average than Neifi. Better fielder too.
