I am curious...how many articles in the Hoya are there about the superiority of Georgetown to GW? how many Georgetown fans are at the GW hoops board talking about the Colonials? I graduated in 2002...I don't think I thought about GW once in my four years on the Hilltop. So, who cares now?
They're having a nice little run this year with their hoops team, they should be proud of it. 15 straight is tough to do, whether you play Helen Keller's School for the Blind or not. We can argue until we're blue in the face about who has the better team this season, but, unfortunately, that can only be settled on the court. Maybe the NCAA committee will oblige us.
That said, leaving the academic debate aside, the Colonials' longterm hoops prospects are not quite up to par with that of JT3 and the Hoyas. I don't think that is debatable at all. So, enjoy self perceived top dog in DC status while it lasts, elrod and other GW lurkers. Tell everyone about it who is willing to listen. In coming seasons, rest assured when there is no debate that the Hoyas are the best team in DC, we won't be telling you about it in the Hoya and on your message board.
Because GW is an afterthought.

Seems that everyone outside of the GU campus thinks GW is pretty good. We think you're good too, enough that we want to play you. Seems that you lost three games in a row last week. Two to ranked teams. Seems that regardless of Lamar, our SOS, Lyndon LaRouche, Saxophones, Metro Stops, Pedophiliacs, Sally Struthers, Eating disorders, 1815, 1821 that... ...GW has won 15 in a row, home, away, down at the half, with/without Pops....and GU has won how many in a row? Let's see what happens, only March will tell. Good luck against 'Cuse...they're unranked, you should be able to beat them by what 3 or 4 points? C'mon, now heap obligatory opprobria about GW/WG.... If people outside of GW's campus think you're really THAT good, then why are you being projected as no better than a 4/5 seed with only one loss on the year? The combined record of teams in your last 15 wins is 165-183. And 'Cuse is a tournament team, which is unlike any other team you've played since December. Oh, that's right, because you and all your fans like to ignore the facts. Your arguments make you seem like you graduated from The University of Phoenix, not WG.

What's the furthest a GW team has advanced in the NCAAs? I'm not trying to disparage them but I am curious.

Exactly. I really don't understand why people like HoyaSox are arguing with Elrod about basketball. I think it is pretty established that a) GW has a good team and yes, it is hard to tell how good because b) they haven't played anyone. Good enough for everyone? The point of this article wasn't basketball. It's the fact that apparently an entire university full of kids looks to us for validation! I've never felt so powerful.

I hope that kid goes to a party tonight, asks for a cup, and gets punched in the mouth. What an embarassment to WG. I'm crossing my fingers that my friends in Foggy Bottom haven't caught this bug too.

These morons have an inferiority complex so bad it's not funny. I've abstained from getting involved but I recommend a public flogging and for the good of CBB, a 1st Round Exit would be fitting punishment for these trolls. Now I'm sure there are some fine fans and they are a good team--but this hate/bitterness is beyond annoying and now they are on my list of mid majors to hate and want to see fail and flop in NCAA's.
Also, in the spirit of Satan--aka Mike Jarvis, I'll make a prediction GW is one of those teams who sits around the "tv" on Selection Sunday at their "party" which always makes teams look like total butt plugs. I'll add that I expect to see Mark Few on whining about seeding for the 5th year in a row, some team like UNI, Wichita State, or Missouri Valley team, media whore Jay Wright, and this year's "tournament" darling--Bucknell--who is actually a good team and well coached--but they get the "Vermont" treatment this year. It'll be a lovefest.
If you see a GW fan--treat them like a Cuse fan or even worse--a Twerp fan and give them a verbal beatdown and if nobody's looking--a nice beatdown wouldn't be bad. ;D

Oh man, why is the Hoya writing editorials about this? It is far more fun to watch GW students try to get GU to notice them.

Why aren't you people guarding the gates? The GW foe is not to be trusted. They could attack at any time. We may have injured their leader, General Pops, but they will not go down without a fight. I am calling for a preemtive strike. I know they have weapons of mass destruction. I've seen them in the same satillite pictures of Iraq. You can clearly see their mobile chemical weapons plants on 22nd Street. By going in hard now, the people of Foggy Bottom will see greet us as liberators. It will only cost $250 billion dollars. At that price how can we not invade?

In the best movie ever made, "The Postman" by Kevin Cosner, said the United States government was overthrown durring the battle of Georgetown. I think this may be that battle. If GW marches to Georgetown I say we pick them off crossing the bridges over rock creek park. Our ships will protect Washington Harbor from attack along the shoreline. The only problem will be defending the hospital from an attack from their Mt Veron Squad. A preemtive strike should take out their communications and power stations. After the first wave of attackers, we must make a push of our own. Quickly flank their lines at Washington Circle. Occupy their hosiptal and choke the streets of Foggy Bottom with their dead!!!!!! Bando: What is best in life? DrumsGoBang: To crush GW, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women! Bando: That is good.

Why do I have this mental picture of two lines of students gathered in the midst of Penn. Ave., snapping and circling each other while HoyaSox sings "Maria, Maria". .. Oh yeah, then DrumsGoBang shows up wearing a gas mask and sporting a flamethrower.
I would really like to see this ended on the court once and for all. Maybe once Roy dunks Pops through the hoop the Colonials will realize that the only thing they offer is bluster.

I understand the focus on WG's team but...aside from a confluence of other rather minor variables, the major reason WG is again relevant is Karl Hobbs. Hobbs is simply one of the best young coaches in the country. Here's the problem for WG fans: Is WG and the A-10 really Hobbs' (or any coach's) endgame? Of course not.
Calipari proved himself at UMass and then left...Memphis Motta proved himself at Xavier and then left...Ohio State Prosser proved himself at Xavier and then left...Wake Forest
And there are other examples. Each coach took essentially a mid-major team, guided to a good 1-3 year run, made the Tourny, maybe won a few games, upset a major conference team, and then jumped to a bigger program in a major conference.
IMO, it's only a matter of team until Hobbs has that opportunity -- and takes it.

Calipari proved himself at UMass and then left...Memphis Don't forget Coach Cal's glorious tenure at the helm of the NJ Nets, followed by his stint as a Sixers? assistant while waiting for the stink of corruption that followed him from Amherst to fade enough for Memphis to decide the only way they can be relevant is to bring in a man with no scruples.

You know, you should read my first post where I agreed that the march was stupid. Am I stupid because I agree with you or because I went to GW? Or just because I think that my team is better this year. And Syracuse is not going to the tournament this year. If you lose to them what will that say? peace out, morons. I love it when forty-something message board trolls say "peace out."
