Not sure what to say about his game tonight or this season. The effort is there, the decision making and execution hasn't been. Very dissappointing. I said it last year and I'll say it again...give me Kevin Braswell or Joey Brown over Chris Wright.

Chris was our best player tonight and the only one who had any idea of what he was doing.
Greg and Jason on the other hand....

Wright and Vaughn were the best players on the court tonight, but even they had bad moments. The team was totally unfocused on offense and it was a TEAM problem, not just one player.

JV was our best player this game and last. We must have been watching different games.

Wright was awful. His mind was writing checks his body could not cash. Very poor. The depth of this team is its greatest liability JT III has no one to go to if his first team falters. This must improve or it will be a very long season.

This board is seriously laughable half the time and threads like this are examples. Sure he had some bad moments, but I would be willing to wager over half our field goals this game came from plays Wright set up. Not only that but he was the only guy who defended the perimeter, and even though it was amazing, it was still solid. Jeeze, if your going to critize players the first two you shoud look at are Greg and Jason. Almost every big three they had was because of Jason's lack of defense, and thats not even mentioning his offense. Greg needs to knock down a three

Over the last 3 games Chris Wright is 6 for 20 from the field with 13 turnovers....how exactly is he our best player. We should be very happy we came out of these string of games winning two of three.
What was that freakin pass out of bounds with 19 seconds left.....was he really trying to throw it to monroe 25 feet from the basket???

Probably was trying to throw it to Monroe as Monroe had just hit a 3 from that same corner. Makes sense doesn't it?

I said he was our best player this game, not over the whole season, although he is one of our best. And maybe you would realize right now Chris is changing his game, and transforming into a different type of player. Its not going to be smooth, hence the "careless" turnovers, but in the end he will be a much better player for it. I expect my mid-January, early February, we will see the real Chris Wright finally emerge. Sorry but tonight Chris and Julian were our best players.

It's unfair to call this thread 'laughable'. What's laughable is the unabashed optimism that a lot of people on this board maintain. The truth is, Wright has been a disaster for the system Thompson is trying to run. He's a complete turnover machine and has been a liability to the offense. The problem- Clark isn't quite the player to step into his role- not as true of a PG.
As long as we continue to stubbornly run this bastardization of a 'Princeton Offense', Wright will struggle. We need to open up our game and let our talent rise to the occasion against weaker opponents like ODU. I'm hoping Thompson will realize this.

Can any of us actually pin that last turnover on Chris? He could have been 100% right that Greg should have been at that spot, but he comes away looking like he threw it away. And, why wouldn't he pass it to Monroe 25 feet from the basket? 1. Greg just hit a huge 3 2 minutes earlier, and, more importantly, 2. we always pass to our bigs when they come beyond three point line. It's part of the offense (see Roy vs. UConn).
If Chris doesn't barely miss those 3 layups, we're talking about a very nice 5-8 10 points 7 assist game. I really really don't understand how he got singled out for playing crappy today. Julian was the "best" player in some ways. He scored well and attacked the glass. But he also had some horrendous turnovers, including 2 momentum killers on a bad entry pass and the attempted outlet pass. Greg was slap happy on defense which led to him being out of position a lot. Austin played well but was cold from deep for the 2nd game in a row.
I wouldn't say Chris has been our best player. But to lay the blame for tonight at his feet means you're watching the game with different colored glasses than I am.

You clearly have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Really. None. Zero. Nada. Zip. We should have won this game regardless of what "system" we were running even if we forced all of our guards to shoot using the "potty shot" method. It was a bad team game and a bad team loss that had absolutely NOTHING to do with the offense. It had a bit to do with the turnovers that ARE NOT a function of the offensive style. It had a heck of a lot more to do with the flatness of the defense in the first half. Thanks for playing though.

Feel free to take a condescending attitude
But the truth is we have shown an ineptitude to make in-game adjustments over the last 2 seasons. Unparalleled among other big basketball programs.
And it's a fact that Wright has struggled within our system. You can try to demean my post, but I'm not really afraid of the general attitude that tries to jump all over worthy criticism of severe problems in the team

It blows my mind that you could think turnovers have nothing to do with the offensive style that we brought to the floor tonight. Am I attacking the entire system that Thompson runs? No. But tonight was an example of stubbornly sticking to something that was failing. Or the players simply not doing what they were told. Take your pick Again- the 'thanks for playing' comment... The condescending attitude on here is wildly offensive

First of all Julian Vaughn was the best player on the court today and really thats teh problem with this team. Our best player is obvi Greg Monroe but Greg i think got teh ball 3 times in the post... There is the problem, this was just like last year where he keeps getting the ball at the top of the key.. If that is the princeton offense than I dont want it!!!!!
The problem with this team is we have no go to guard, and no consistent 3 pt shooting. We turn the ball over and our best player gets the ball 20 feet from the hoop.... genious...
Note to JT3 1. Its ok to call a timeout when thngs are spirling out of control. 2. He doesnt have to keep putting in that turnover machine Henry Sims, Really Jt3 its ok keep him on teh bench...

The condescending attitude on here is wildly offensive It was meant to be both condescending and mildly offensive (not wildly so). My bad. The turnovers were ballhandling and poor passes. You do handle the ball and pass in other offenses right?
