Chris drove and dished at least three times in the Harvard game that I can remember. It may have been more. If you can't remember that, strummer, either you weren't watching or your expectations of Chris are clouding your memory. beat me to it. but strummer 1. the reason why sleepy seems to think that coach and teammates trust chris is because even after his so called out of control drives (i cant even remember one lately, but f you do feel free to point it out) he never gets pulled from the game and his teammates keep feeding him the ball. and 2. did you not watch the harvard game??!?!? or like any other games this season? even early last season chris was really good at driving baseline and kicking it to a wide open player in the corner. So please start watching georgetown basketball games before you start posting on this board.

If Coach and the rest of the team didn't trust him you would be able to tell by the way they play on the court. Chris would get pulled a heck of a lot more then he does and players wouldn't be looking to pass to them which they are. And Chris looks to pass on almost all of his drives, and I would venture to guess he passes out on roughly half the drives he takes, so I really don't know what games your watching.

I admit I missed the Harvard game. I'm home for the holiday and internet here isn't as reliable as in my DC apartment. It's only the second game at Verizon I've missed in the last 3 years. So yes, I've seen a couple of games. And sure, maybe he dishes occasionally. I'm not saying he puts up a flailing layup 100% of the time. But he certainly does so on a somewhat regular basis. I'm also not saying he's a liability, a bad player, or a bad PG. But if there's something about his game that I wish were different, I wish that 2–3 times a game, he decided to slow down rather than careen towards the basket.

If the Harvard game showed anything with regard to Chris it's that the Chris detractors will always be Chris detractors regardless of what the kid does. It's the same mentality with the offense. Regardless of how it works when executed well, the naysayers will remain. It's kinda sad. While Chris' stat line doesn't necessarily negate some of the flaws in his game at times (and they're getting fewer and more infrequent), can we at least give the kid some love when he flat-out dominates? He had 6 flippin' steals. Go ahead and throw 2 "lazy" passes and have 6 steals every night. Where do I buy my Chris Wright jersey?
Nice game Chris. Really nice game. Really, really nice game. And if anyone else starts talking about Scottie Reynolds again in a CW thread, please remember throttle yourself after having done so.
Happy holidays one and all. Well deserved, albeit, short rest for the guys.

Sad, since he is one of those few players that even if they are making mistakes and not playing well, you can always say they gave it 110% and never quit. Oh well, keep doing your thing Chris, the rest of us really appreciate it and understand how good you are.

"Give me Joey Brown or Kevin Braswell over Chris Wright".
Hahahahahahahahahahaha brother you must be joking. Brown and Braswell were solid, Wright has the makings of something special.
Wright has had over the long term a couple major issues that are being worked out in front of our eyes as Sleepy noted.
First is he is a natural up tempo guard, we by trade play low tempo. However, the Harvard game just showed that he now has the green light to go up tempo on the break at will, but just as important even in the halfcourt O he has learned and is still adding ways to insert up-tempo moves into the offense, such as an explosive spin move and feed out of the pick and roll as we saw against Washington. This is actually really useful because it changes the rythm and catches the defense off guard, low-low-low-BAM explosive. Defenses can't react because it happens too quick. Basically switching to explosive moves, what he does well, out of the halfcourt.
Also if he could master penetration without overpentration, as the announcers were actually criticizing Washington in that game, he could dish to Freeman and Monroe on the daily. You have Monroe with sure hands to finish off feeds, along with Clark and Freeman on the perimiter and wings to knock it down and/or slash.
Overall, the coaches seem to be doing a much better job teaching all the players the small but crucial more sophisticated elements of the Princeton offense and the guys are picking them up. They know what to do now when the other team sags on cuts. They no longer look dumbstruck when the first or second play doesn't work out, they continue through the 3rd, 4th, 5th options. This is Georgetown Offense 2.0, 1.0 was John Wallace's offense. As they year goes on it will get better. I credit the new assistant coach from Princeton with a lot of that, from briefly watching him in action I get the sense he knows how to teach the finer points of the offense well. Overall, everybody is on the same page this year.

Chris had a really fantastic game today, which the box score obviously shows, but I have noticed a few things about how he has played thus far this season. I really do think it's great that he's trying to step it up and take charge on offense, even considering the fact that he has been in a slump of sorts for awhile. But I think that, a lot of times, when he drives, he has absolutely no control over his body, which has led to a lot of charge calls (which, since I have seen many of those calls in person, I can say have been correct for the most part). I think it's great that he wants to run the ball, and that may be more his style than the more slow-paced Princeton offense, but he can't just plow through the defender, because unless the refs are lenient, he's going to get called for the charge if his body is out of control. Also, I would imagine that he has been frustrated that his outside shot hasn't been falling (up until today, that is), but that doesn't mean that he needs to take every three that he gets a look at. There are four other players on the court, and taking misguided threes isn't a complaint I have just about Chris- I could name several players who are constantly jacking up unnecessary threes. But I do feel like, when Chris was struggling shootingwise in previous games, he tried to force it a little bit more. If your shot isn't working, you get the ball to someone who is shooting well, or you feed the ball inside to Julian or Greg for a higher percentage shot. Again, I would just like to say that Chris played an incredible game today, but I think that he has to have a little bit more control and use his judgment when driving. I do not think I could disagree more with a post than I do with this one. I think some of the things you said about Chris being out of control and forcing things this year would have been true 8 months ago, but in games this year Chris really hasn't been out of control or forced things as much. Actually I have seen him do the opposite. When things haven't been working for him on offense he has tried to get others involved and stopped looking for his shot. Does that mean everything he tries to do works out or is always the best decision? No, but a lot of his mistakes and turnovers this year haven't come from being out of control or forcing things. Mostly his struggles have come from sloppiness, whether in the form of sloppiness or not finishing when he can, but hes been a lot more under control this year than in the past. Sure he has his moments of being out of control which leads to some offensive fouls, but who doesn't? Also as long as the three pointer is open, and your a three point shooter, you take it. Period. Sorry but I haven't seen anyone taking "misguided" threes this year, or atleast to the point where its a problem. Also, I said the beginning of this thread and I will say it again now threads like this show why this board is laughable. This board would be considering putting up a monument if Monroe went for 34 pts, 6 steals and 6 assists. If Jason did it you people would be ready to rename the team after him. Chris does it, and while there is a lot of praise for him, its no where near the amount any other player would get. While an off game makes people contimplate why he got a scholarship over the "great" Scottie Reynolds. Its ridiculous. Yeah, as one of the main Chris critics over the past two years, A) he's clearly cut WAY back on the things that usually drive us nuts and B) I'll take this game from him any day of the week and twice against Syracuse. I'm gonna shut up about Chris unless I feel like his play directly leads to a loss. sleepy's right (it burns usssss ;D), 34 points is 34 points.

espn.go.com/ncb/notebook/_/page/notebookweeklywatch0906/week-6part of the team of the week: Chris Wright, Jr., G, Georgetown: Where did this come from? Wright scored 34 points in a win over Harvard after scoring just four in a loss to Old Dominion. The most Wright had scored earlier in the season was 18. If Wright can regularly score in double figures, the Hoyas can be a true contender in the Big East.
