I am thrilled with this 2 point lead. Hope we come out strong in the 2nd. Blair should be in the game btw but I imagine he won’t be. Let's go over this again - we need Blair off the bench at this point because we almost literally have no other offensive spark to put in. |

nova 3-18 from 3. we're lucky to be in this game When it's 2gms in a row are you still lucky or is it the fact that guys have to shoot over 6'7 and 6'9 wings? I believe that every game we have won this season is because the other team missed wide open shots. |

Apparently our strategy today is hope Nova misses open 3's. Well since one of their best shooters is out and another is less than 100%, that may be the right strategy. |

Tough call on the bench. A couple of bad minutes from a little used sub can make the difference in a close game. On the other hand we need to steal a couple of minutes here and there. Maybe 2 or 3 minutes from Sibley and either Clark or Berger late first half. But it wasn't a close game. Looking at the box score, the minutes distribution looks more balanced between the seven players used by Pat, and 6 of them played under 33 minutes. That said, around 50% of the game was played with a 15+ point gap between the teams. I understand that Pat wanted to secure his first BET win, but it was the perfect scenario to give the 7 players a p.t. break before tomorrow's noon game. I agree that Sibley, Clark and Berger could've used some minutes. I was referring to dense's comment about tomorrow. I admit I was a little surprised we did not go a little deeper today, but maybe after we blew a double digits lead to Marquette earlier this season, Ewing was a little gun shy. |

I am ecstatic that I can spend my 15,000th post (yeah, I know, I need a life) celebrating our first BET win in years rather than beginning the months-long post-mortem on this season and pre-mortem (is that a thing?) on the next one.

Believe it or not Don Carey played the most minutes in the game at 38 min. Unspectacular but solid, contributions at just the right times. |

Didn't think he played well, but then I look at the boxscore and he had 6 boards and 5 steals. Carton was the best player on the floor for Marquette and while he shot the ball efficiently we turned him over 8 times. Literally proof that if you play hard you can make things happen that contribute to team success. He can force 8 more TOs tomorrow too. If he's playing 94 feet of defense on Nova's ballhandlers, he can easily force those 8 TO's. Just worried that he wears down, to the point he is a second slow on defense, leads to reaching, and fouls. I guess one benefit of his offensive struggles today is that they led to him being pulled for a few minutes. |

You know you are a black hole when Rafferty you has seen maybe 3 games this year is joking with Bile, "it's going up" or "Oh he is definitely not giving it up here" I was laughing so hard. Also Pat has this thing where in the 2nd half he tries to use 6 players thing. Wahab got gassed around the 13 min mark of the 2nd half and I was screaming get him out. Luckily he didn't pick up that 4th foul because he was breathing heavy. I hope we extend at least 1 more player in the 1st half tomorrow. Tough call on the bench. Congratulations on a dominating effort today, I think Georgetown will give Nova fits tomorrow with their size and length and I think Wahab is just a superstar flat out waiting to happen. This game tomorrow is bringing back memories when Villanova was the underdog and Georgetown was the favorite and quite frankly that is how I see the game tomorrow. Congratulations on the win. Looking forward to the game tomorrow, should be a good battle. Not buying your attempt to make the conference champs the underdogs, even with Gillespie and presumably Moore out. Still plenty of talent taking their minutes. But it does give me more hope! |
