Will the last person to leave please turn off the lights, or at least pay a Thompson crony an outrageous sum to do so?
A fish rots from the head and Jack just told us so.

That will be the day to think about GU winning again.

While Jack is in charge, Pitino is such an unrealistic option that it's not worthy of discussion. All of a sudden JD goes from mindset of apathy/"keep the program over there" to throwing his reputation on the line for 70 year old coach with a sordid history just to win? No way. Incidentally, I do not think JD ever replaces Ewing with a white guy. Before you ask, Esh had FULL backing of JT2 because he had been there so long, and he was best option in a pinch. I really hope that nobody in power at Georgetown thinks we should only hire black coaches. This notion is so absurd. I hope no one anywhere thinks that way…

If we got an arena there… And if we ever got good again… How cool would the pregame march to games be for students and what great coverage it would draw… None of those ifs come to pass until we clean house…

To be clear, DePaul right now is ranked 106 on KenPom. In the OOC, Georgetown beat teams that were 293, 356, 220, 236, and 213, and lost to 41, 69, 119, 203, 180, and 81. So, we haven't even come close to beating a team even remotely as good as DePaul. Right now, our odds against DePaul in Chicago are projected to be 25%, and at home, 47%. We aren't even favored in those games. My bad. It's hard to accept the fact that we are the new DePaul. We wish…

Georgetown is having virtual media availability at 11 A.M. Will Pat face the tough questions we all want answered? Hmmm Just perfect. We are virtually a college basketball program and Pat is virtually a coach.

The idea that Rick Pitino is going to be hired at Georgetown is totally absurd on multiple levels. Regardless of who the replacement is, Ewing's track record through the first 5.5 years is an abomination and warrants his termination at the end of the season unless there is a miraculous turn around. You should delete the final seven words of your post. As well as the first 11…

Small item that speaks larger: They fired the analytics guy from last year and never replaced him. We might be the only high major program in the country without one. And given how many long 2PT jumpers we take and how few we force on defense, it shows. It was obviously time for him to MOVE

In that same vein, Orr at .500 had by leaps and bounds the best coaching record. It is staggering that we could collect an entire staff of proven losers to surround Ewing, and after four years of his losing, we extended him. Orr is still on the staff, just not in a recruiting capacity, correct? Special Assistant to the Head Coach, whatever the hell that means. At least he is a longtime Ewing crony rather than Ronny.

But the coaching is the same as last year. And the results are worse so far. The variable is the players. So how can you definitively make this claim? The coaching isn't the same since they fired all the assistants. So maybe the coaching got worse. I made this point earlier - we demoted the most successful coach on staff (Orr) for less successful coaches (Nickelberry, Baldwin) and one with no real track record (Crouch) because the theory was that coaching didn't really matter and talent would win out, so put all your eggs into the recruiting basket. In that same vein, Orr at .500 had by leaps and bounds the best coaching record. It is staggering that we could collect an entire staff of proven losers to surround Ewing, and after four years of his losing, we extended him.

Anything could happen, but I wouldn’t rule out the following… In a classic Georgetown move, Ewing “resigns” at season’s end under a ton of heat and Pitino, a Ewing mentor, is named coach. Maybe Ronny goes at Pitino’s insistence, but Rick names PEJr as an assistant to help smooth the many ruffled feathers. Im down Ruffled feathers of whom? Anyone whose feathers are ruffled by the endings of this farce are people we are well rid of. All ties to Thompson, Ewing, et al must be severed immediately and totally. The acolytes will will always have the Court, the TAC and the statue where they can worship their hero.

More importantly, can the student fan base (such as it is) get a good “FIRE RONNY” chant going? Since no one knows whether he is or isn’t a coach or other official, I think this post is legit. Not sure the current students even know who RT is. Then they need to be educated…

If I had a son who was really good at basketball and was seen as a top recruit, I would highly advise him not to consider Georgetown. For anyone I truly cared about in the same situation, I would say the same thing. This is coming from an alum and someone who had 6 family members go to Georgetown. I've flown and traveled for Hoya basketball for over 25 years. It crushes me, but I couldn't let anyone I care about (who had good basketball options) choose Georgetown for basketball. I am 100% serious. As you should be.

Put another way, Anglin played less in all games than Spears averaged for each game. That my friends is quality roster management.

Back to back winless conference seasons make for a compelling recruiting argument. Coupled with the attrition rate, it is a real winner. “We never win and most of the guys you enter with won’t stay” Who could pass that up?

To put that in context and courtesy of the HoyaTalk archives (June 17, 2022) , Hoya men’s basketballl most recent APR was dead last for team’s playing major conference basketball (I think meaning at minimum the Power 5 and the Big East) and Big East last by 34 points (next worst DePaul of course) at 917 to 951. And any team below 930 is under the rules subject to sanctions — but those were suspended last few years but expected to return after this season. Now, I don’t completely get/understand myself all the puts and takes of this calculation in terms of transferring in good standing academically (or not) and graduating (or not) somewhere, but the overall finish here I think just overwhelms any nuance/attempt to explain it away… Per the NCAA: The APR is calculated as follows:
Each student-athlete receiving athletically related financial aid earns one point for staying in school and one point for being academically eligible.
A team’s total points are divided by points possible and then multiplied by 1,000 to equal the team’s Academic Progress Rate.
In addition to a team’s current-year APR, its rolling four-year APR is also used to determine accountability.
The 917 is a four year average which was significantly depressed by an 860 in 2020-21. The looming problem is that, as a four year average, the 860 remains in the calculation for the next three seasons and the 2021-22 exits were even greater than those the year before. If and when the NCAA resumes APR penalties, Georgetown is at risk. www.ncaa.org/sports/2015/5/19/academic-progress-rate-explained.aspxThis, all by itself, is why he and the entire operation must go. This would be unacceptable if we were winning big. To suck so badly on the court and even worse off it simply cannot stand.
