Girls will always be a bigger factor than the availability or legality of weed. And, no offense, but Georgetown lags behind some of our competition in that regard. If Gus Johnson is to be believed, this will not be an issue as long as we have Howard.

I think SJU as well. No more regular season games left against XU, but one to go with SJU. If they beat XU, helps their RPI, which will help our RPI after we beat them next Sat. Because we will end up playing both teams twice, the end of season impact on our RPI will be identical at year end. A St Johns win would momentarily reduce our RPI since we would have played Xavier twice and St Johns only once.

DSR has 327 made free throws tied for 14th on the list with Roy Hibbert. Next up, Jim Barry with 328 and Michael Jackson with 331. He is on track to finish in the top five in this category and could end up second all time.
Mikael Hopkins has 438 career rebounds, just outside of the top 50. Dajuan Summers is 50th with 444.

There is a good chance for a fourth game against Butler in a BET semifinal. When is the last time Georgetown played an opponent 4 times in a season? Providence in 1987.

Per Pomeroy
Expected Conference Wins - Sum of Win Probabilities
1. Nova 15.21 2. Hoyas 11.69 3. Butler 11.62 4. Prov. 11.06 5. Xavier 9.50 6. St Johns 8.80 7. DePaul 7.18 8. S. Hall 6.37 9. Marq. 4.41 10.Creigh. 4.16
Expected Conference Wins - Favorite wins
1. Nova 16 2. Butler 12 3. Prov. 12 4. Hoyas 11 5. St Johns 10 6. Xavier 9 7. DePaul 7 8. S. Hall 6 9. Marq. 4 10.Creigh. 3
Some thoughts:
Winning out in conference for the Hoyas would seem like a really good idea, but we are minor underdogs at both St Johns and Butler although Butler's prospects are diminished by Chrabascz's health status. Consequently, even though our expected wins would place us in second place we would end up in fourth if the chalk holds for every game. Second place gives us a probable path of DePaul in a 2-7 game, then probably Providence and then Nova. If we finish third, there would be a good chance that our quarterfinal game would be against Xavier. If we finish fourth we might have Xavier and then Nova.
For now, Villanova is our best friend as they have home games against Providence and St Johns and an away game at Xavier. If any of these three teams were to beat Nova, the projected standings would be seriously scrambled.
Providence's chances of getting to 12 wins are high. Other than the game at Nova where they are significant underdogs, they are at home against Marquette and finish against Seton Hall (Away) and Butler (Home). Both Seton Hall (disintegration) and Butler (injury) are probably overrated by Pomeroy.

They'll probably push it back to 8:15 or 8:20. Highly unlikely

Start time set at 8:10. Doubt that prior game will be done by then.

I hope the game is not set to start right at 8. The UNLV/New Mexico game will definitely run long.

Charles Smith balled from day one. If Charles balled from Day 1 he was doing it in practice only. He averaged 3.0 as a freshman and 6.7 for his entire sophomore season. He was averaging the same 3 points well into his sophomore season. I was at the game in which he went off for the first time - DePaul maybe - late in his sophomore season. The entire Capital Center was stunned.

I had seen this and was meaning to post on it but SFHoya beat me to it.
At various times we have had long board threads bemoaning our three point defense and our interior defense. And it is a demonstrable fact that we are 341 out of 345 at free throw defense. We must be really good at defending mid-range jump shots!!!

Gene Smith's utter domination of Kentucky's Dickie Beal as Beal tried to bring the ball upcourt in the second half of the national semifinal win against Kentucky.
At one point, after knocking the ball out of bounds, Smith turned to Billy Packer and winked.
Tom Scates going full Dr. J.with a one handed scoop shot across the lane against Penn at the Palestra in 1979.

I was going to change the word "unsubstantiated" to "ill-founded," until I pulled up a list of synonyms for "ill-founded:" ill-founded baseless, empty, groundless, idle, unjustified, unproven, unreliable, unsubstantiated, unsupported I guess my ill-founded prediction can also be an unsubstantiated prediction as well. So you are saying that ill-founded would also have been a poor choice of words?

I almost followed that line of logic. But, after all, subjectivity is objective. You need to reparse.

Thirteen of the AP Top 25 lost this past week: #2 Virginia, #4 Duke, #8 Notre Dame, #11 Utah, #12 Wichita State, #13 North Carolina, #14 Virginia Commonwealth, #16 Maryland, #19 Texas, #20 Baylor, #21 Georgetown, #22 Indiana, and #23 Miami (twice). Unsubstantiated prediction: Villanova moves up to #6 (ahead of Duke), Butler moves up to #21, and we slip to #22. Miami drops out, and is replaced by Ohio State at #25. How can a prediction be unsubstantiated? Either you are referring to the act of predicting itself, in which case it's appearance on this talk board substantiates it, or all predictions are unsubstantiated because they cannot be proved because they have not yet occurred. In the latter case, only a prior prediction can be substantiated.

The loss of Briante Weber is a terrible, terrible loss for VCU. Weber was 12 steals away from breaking the NCAA record for career steals and was also the key to VCU's half court offense.
What a tragedy for a kid who has had a wonderful, unexpected career.

I bet until the Butler/Nova games most of us shared most if not all of those beliefs. You saw it in the posts and in the sense of impending doom after the Providence game. I think we were all suffering from a 2014 team hangover and couldn't see that this new Hoya team is light years ahead of last year's. It is worth noting that we're a couple of inches or shots away from being 4-4 in the Big East. I think this team is getting better everyday, and better than last year. But if Tre misses that shot against Butler or any one of a number of things happen against Marquette, we're not nearly as happy right now. True, but we are also a free throw (out of 6) and a couple made shots away from being 17-2 (7-1)and ranked in the top ten. The number of close games we have been in has been truly amazing - and stressful. And if you look at Pomeroy, we have a lot more of that to come in the next five weeks.
