Truly atrocious miss by the refs as the shot was clearly late. I did not realize the call was not reviewable.

So, I have had an eerie feeling of deja vu for the last couple of weeks but I couldn't put my finger on it.
And it finlly hit me today, late in the game.
Now before I say it - and I say it with the full disclaimer that I am absolutely not saying that they are the same type of player and I am not predicting a similar career - am I crazy or doesn't the form on Tre Campbell's jump shot seem almost identical to that of Sleepy Floyd's.
When they take (took) the shot in rhythm, their legs are tight together and their legs, torso, head arms and hands are as straight as a pencil direcred right at the rim.
Wins like today's can be cathartic events.

Apparently Tre Campbell is the first to initiate contact for a foul

Unfortunately, Bacon is off the table. We have two guards on the roster after this year... 2!!!! And will have 1 on the roster after next year. Yes there may be talent in the 2016 class, but do you want freshman who don't know the system to be running the show when we have such good returning talent. I'd happily spare a scholarship for this guy if it means having another serviceable guard who knows the system Huh? Next year we will likely have Peak, DSR and Campbell. Are we still on this kick of "the roster says Peak is a forward so I will ignore that everything about his game says guard." We still should be looking at guards for 2015 -- no one wants three guards only and I'm not sold on the Paul White at guard idea, but there's no need to overstate the issue. While it would not be my first choice, I am curious why you don't think Paul White could not play the one or the two. His ability to bring the ball up the court appears to be at least as good as Jon Wallace.

I agree with Blueandgray. When Reaves wouldn't be able to stretch the defense at all, people would be screaming for the next guy to step in. But Bacon....man he's exactly what the Hoyas need. Unfortunately, Bacon is off the table. We have two guards on the roster after this year... 2!!!! And will have 1 on the roster after next year. Yes there may be talent in the 2016 class, but do you want freshman who don't know the system to be running the show when we have such good returning talent. I am currently watching the St. John's/Marquette game and St. John's has the ugliest Home uniforms ever - sort of dark grey mud brown with red piping.
The uniforms are so dark that it is hard to tell the teams apart when the camera pans back.
I mean I know I am getting old, but my eyes are not that bad.
If nothing else, Fox needs to step in because this is hurting the product.

In all of my years watching the Hoyas, I do not believe that we have ever had a player who so actively looks to be fouled and get to the line at the end of games as DSR.
It's great strategy - DSR is a very solid ballhandler who does not turn the ball over much under pressure - because it puts a great free throw shooter on the line in clutch situations.
It is a big component of DSR's ability to maintain an offensive efficiency in the 120 range while not shooting the ball especially well from the field.

Does anybody understand why we will play only 29 games this season? Seton hall and Marquette will each play 30 and every other team in the Big East will play 31.
I understand the analytics, but I can't help but suspect that a 20-11 record would look better than the 18-11 record that Pomeroy projects for us.

I dont know if this is against board rules but the line is hoyas favored by 4. Im surprised we are favored. Yes we are at home but that does not mean a lot since we dont have an intimate home court advantage on campus like a gampel pavallion. Butler also beat us already... Well I hope vegas knows something I do not! That line is just begging you to take Butler! I understand that the Verizon Center isn't Rupp, but we are 67-22 (75.3%) at home and 43-47 (47.8%) on the road in Big East regular season games during JT III's tenure. That certainly feels like a home court advantage.

Jeff is going to be very happy in Memphis - provided that Marc Gasol stays a Grizzly.
At least 4 of Jeff's baskets last night resulted directly from Gasol backdoor passes which may be four more of those passes than he received from Celtic bigs in the past 2 seasons. He cut to the basket more times than he would in any 10 game stretch with the Celtics.

I gotta think that when reviewing game film the coaches don't point out how open our bigs are and suggest they shoot more. Even if they miss the fact that they are willing to shoot should force defenses to react and open up some cutters. Regarding Creighton I am convinced that they probably won't become doormats. They do have a great fan base and an excellent coach. I guess its just the east coast bigot in me that makes me feel this way. Milwaukee and Cinicnnatti and Indianapolis were bad enough but Omaha? I always thought that the midwest began once you crossed the Walt Whitman Bridge from New Jersey into south Philly. That's OK NJ, most New Yorkers think the Midwest starts when one crosses the George Washington bridge.

It seems to me that many of Josh's turnovers are a function of the entry pass. When Josh receives an entry pass high, he makes his turn to the basket in a much more expeditious fashion and turns the ball over relatively infrequently.
When the entry pass is low, however, we end up with two issues. First, he doesn't bend over all that well and is often not in an optimal position to receive the pass. A lot of these passes come off of his fingers. Second, this provides a much better opportunity for collapsing guards to attack his hands.
Unfortunately many of DSR's best passes are bounce passes down low, so good entry passes from DSR are often not optimal for Josh. The best entry passes for Josh are from the wing from a big because they tend to be over the top.
I think the ball needs to be in Paul White's hands so that he is free to either find DSR coming off of a screen or dish to Josh where Josh can receive it best.

Bad night for Hoya health. Otto looked to have hurt an ankle or groin late in Friday's win over the Cavs, and Roy is out of tonight's game with an ankle injury.
