Nice write up of Jason Clark from NBADraft.net Darryl Aubrey who recapped his top 20 players out in Vegas and 5 underclassmen.
Coming in at #17 was Jason Clark, here's what Aubrey said about him:
"Georgetown has always loved long, athletic guards that can defend. They found a gem in Jason Clark. He showed in Vegas that he does have an offensive game. Strong with bounce, end to end speed, decent jumper, but where he excels is on defensive end. And not just quick hands or anticipation either--but a true lockdown defender with excellent footwork. Future Big East Defensive Player of the Year."

Damn, now that's the sort of guard I love to hear about! Defense wins championships even in this sport.

Clark sounds like a beast. By far and away, he is the 2008 recruit I am most looking forward to arriving at Gtown.

Clark sounds like a beast. By far and away, he is the 2008 recruit I am most looking forward to arriving at Gtown. I'm extremely excited about our class. I know they don't quite have the marquee rankings (though I think we've become jaded when a Top 50 player isn't marquee!) and since they've committed, they definitely don't get as much press. Despite commentary on Sims not being bulky enough to be a "Big East" center defensively, I'm not completely sold on the concept. He's got the height and shotblocking ability, a year before he steps on campus and even then, it isn't like the Big East is full of Shaquille O'Neals. He'll be fine against 80%+ of the BE centers if III chooses to play him there. And by sophomore year I expect him to be strong enough. Offensively, I doubt he'll be as dominant as Roy, but he's a lot closer to III's Princeton centers in style without sacrificing as much defensive potential. I don't think people will be screaming about Sims hanging out at the top of the key like they do with Roy. That's not to say he can't post up, and I've heard little to say he has Roy's passing skills yet, but he'll add a dimension that we don't currently have. Folks seem to forget that Chris Braswell was a Top 20 player before his injury/taking time off to focus on academics. That's not to say he'd have necessarily stayed a Top 20 player, but his drop is similar to Chris Wright's fall due to mono. Braswell is a heckuva rebounder, a fantastic passer and already has the bulk to play in the BE. No, he's not super athletic, but he gets the job done. We've done well with workmanlike PFs, and Braswell is much more than that. Then there's Jason Clark. Only sophomore on the All-Met team. I think Chris Wright was All-Met for three years; even Austin wasn't. He may not be a scorer, but isn't this the guard that Hoya fans fall in love with? Excellent defender, do everything, make shots when needed, make the pass when needed, total team player. We won a National Title with players like Jason Clark.

I agree, SF, that it is a very solid class and we should not be jaded by the lack of All Americans.
I don't care whether Sims is a 4 or a 5; he sounds like a player who can contribute on both ends of the floor. I love bigs who can shoot and they obviously fit the system very well.
Braswell sounds like a very solid forward- I just want to see him have a strong senior year in the classroom and on the court.
Clark has been a dominant player for several years against WCAC and DC area competition. That says a lot to me. He sounds like an athlete who can contribute in many ways. I love guys like that and I think Clark will be an important part of the program.

Hey guys. Marquette fan here.
Not sure if you were aware of it but GT is in the final 5 for Renaldo Woolridge 6'8 small forward top 100 kid from California. Some of you may remember his dad was a great player for ND back in the day.
His final 5 schools are Illinois, USC, GT, Tenn, and Marquette.

This is all part of our master plan to corner the market on the progeny of the greatest Catholic school hoops legends of the 1980s (Thompson, Ewing, Rivers, Woolridge). Does Dallas Comegys have any sons?

Woolridge is slated to come for Midnight Madness. Does he have an offer yet? Where did you hear that he was coming to MM?

Man Woolridge went very quickly from someone we weren't talking about here to someone that was invited to Midnight Madness - any background other than the bloodlines?

SF, you are absolutely right. A center like Henry actually fits the mold of the Princeton style center better than Roy does. Technically, for the Princeton offense you want a center who can move around the perimeter, shoot threes, and play inside, and could almost fill in for any of the other positions on the court. So there's really a huge difference between a big east center and a princeton style center. However, (obviously) you can do quite well with a center like Roy in the princeton system, he just doesn't typify the princeton center. I also think this is why Greg Monroe could play SF, PF, or center for us, and would be a perfect fit for our system.

Man Woolridge went very quickly from someone we weren't talking about here to someone that was invited to Midnight Madness - any background other than the bloodlines? Woolridge is a forward who is in that "If we don't get Monroe..." group, along with guys like Singleton, Wes Witherspoon and a few others. Four star player on Rivals and Scout, 59th overall on Rivals. Late bloomer who had a strong summer, especially at Reebok Camp and also playing on the Belmont Shore AAU team (that had a fight with Clark and Braswells team in LV) along with Brandon Jennings. Rivals has referred to him in the past as "The next California sleeper", though high majors seem to be waking up to his talent these days. Scouting report sounds a lot like many other players we know... here are a few quotes on Woolridge: "there is nothing he really does that is fantastic, but he does everything well. " "Woolridge did not grow until late, thus he developed skills to handle the ball, making him intriguing because he can seemingly play three different positions. He will likely be a combo forward at the next level" --Jason Scheer, GoAZCATS.com "Can make shots; needs to become more aggressive and consistent because he's got enough talent." --scout.com "I watched him a bit at the NBA Players Association camp and came away pretty impressed by his overall offensive game. He shot the ball very well and consistently from outside and made several positive plays for his team." --Carlos Doty, Hoyareport.com

Older brother Zach Woolridge is a senior guard at Princeton. He was recruited by JTIII but never played for him. Buried on the bench under Joe Scott.

On a different note, on the recommendation of JerseyHoya I checked out some videos on this kid Chris Singleton, who has put us in his final 5. Dude is a serious, serious athlete. His release on his shot looks a little imperfect but he attacking the basket, running the floor, blocking shots etc. he looks really, really good.
