His stock can't get any higher than it is right now unless he averages 30 next year which won't happen. Look at Joakim Noah...he has quite possibly played himself out of the lottery this year and I would hate for that to happen to Jeff.

That's funny, because I have no idea what Jeff's stock is, and neither do you. Joakim Noah was and is an effort guy coming off a national title. Jeff is neither of those things.
Jeff will enter the draft in the off-season, most likely, and get real advice from NBA scouts and NBA GMs, likely through both the draft process and Thompson contacts. He'll listen to people who actually know things as opposed to people on message boards since he seems like a smart kid and not an idiot.
I don't really understand posts like this at all. Jeff may or may not return, but comparing him to Noah is silly unless we win a national title in a year with a weak draft.
I personally think Jeff will leave and won't harbor any resentment if he does, but there's a lot of situations where coming back may be smarter.

That's to the most ridiculous to thing I've read in a while... to.
You can't possibly make such a claim until after seeing how we fare in the tourney's.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Noah is just a mildly aggressive punk. HORRIBLE comparison to Green.

Presuming Oden and Durant and a few others go, Jeff may or may not make the lottery this draft.
He's guaranteed to do so in '08.
The NBA rookie salary scale what it is, that's a much more difficult decision than you make it out to be. The situation is essentially the inverse of Noah's (stock high, leave now and be in a flooded draft vs. stay a year, enter what most consider will be a weaker draft).
Jeff also has a BET and NCAA tourney to play in. His stock could go through the roof (see: Noah, Joakim) or it could plummet with poor performances. Nothing is writ in stone yet.
EDIT: All that said, I hope he does what he feels is best for himself. I, for one, can't begrudge a kid for jumping at the opportunity to make a serious amount of cash.

A lot depends on who comes out etc. If a bunch of the guys expected to come out do then you can make a real argument that he could get up into the Top 5 next year.
Who the heck knows right now.
Noah is a terrible comparable right now. He won the title and probably could have been a top 3 pick. Good for him coming back. Personal choice.

Remember, he still hasn't officially won POY yet and he hasn't led his team anywhere this postseason yet. I would hope his stock could get significantly higher with some great performances this March. Also, Hoyatalk grammar policeman BubbRubb seems to be on vacation, so I will have to fill in. The title of this thread suggests that you are in need of a return to school.

Sweets didnt win anything & he was the 9th pick in the draft. the NBA drafts players based on talent as well. Remember, if he leaves, he runs the risk of being "dead to me"
Probably not his biggest concern, but certainly should be top 3...

This is a nonsensical discussion. HoyaAtHeart should be forced to mouth-kiss Majerus after he has eaten 3 tuna salad sandwiches!

Exactly....they arent going to care about what the team does. They are judging individual performances...and HE is having a great season.
As for the grammar comment...I won't even attempt to go back and forth with you. You win...congrats.
Ehh...i wont even have to say I told you so in May because I already know he's not coming back anyway.

You should always leave a space between the end or beginning of a word and ellipses.

You think you know! I have stood in the beer line with the man's mother at least twice per game. I know that she enjoys Miller Lite and I KNOW that he WILL be back!

I've heard this a couple of times now - how does the salary scale work? RDF, where are you? The rookie salary scale caps what rookies can make, depending on which position they are selected in during the draft. Take a look at the '05-'06 scale: www.nba.com/news/cba_rookiesalary_050804.htmlBasically, the NBA is saying "if you are picked #10, you can only make $X max." It was a concession the NBAPA made during the last labor dispute/David Stern Ass Whuppin' Of Billy Hunter. The numbers in the scale go up a set percentage every season. So if Green were to leave this year and be picked between 8-15, he can only make a certain salary over the first four years of his time in the NBA. That number increases with his draft position.

If Jeff Green's mom is wearing a diamond-studded #32 jersey at the BET, I think we'll know the answer.
Casually.

Yes. Very bold prediction. Since we are now in the clairvoyant mode, I would like to add a few to the list:
1) Fred Taylor gets injured next year. 2) Daylight Savings will begin this Sunday 3) Britney Spears loses custody of her children 4) Matthew McConaughey will star in a romantic comedy 5) His shirt will come off 6) Another Tupac album will be released 7) I will skip work and watch hoops during the month of March 8) hifigator will have a dozen non-georgetown related post in the next 6-10 days 9) BuffaloHoya will tell him to go away and never come back 10) LIC will use emoticons in a post

Let me remind everyone that "I know a player is or is not coming back / leaving early / flunking out because: a. I know his relatives, b. I played ball with him in high school, c. I used to date his cousin, and/or d. I am pretending to be him" posts are scrutinized carefully and subject to quarantine if necessary.
