Playing Nova and Cuse would force the coaching staff to focus on areas that hurt us against those teams when we lost to them. That's a very good thing going into the NCAA, especially if we fix them and win.

I'm not afraid of anyone the way we can play, but do I want DePaul or Nova? DePaul. If we play Nova we'll beat them but it might be more draining. Neither team is deep and might be gasping for air against us that day. DePaul has a good chance there- they actually match up well against Nova and if they play hard can overcome Nova's experience.
For the Semis, I want Cuse. We owe them and I want the world to see us crush them on Friday night.

Don't forget the Blue Demons won at Nova 73-65 when the two played earlier this year.

I am with you, Big Dog. Not to mention, I think that by most accounts, analysts would say that DePaul needs that game more. With Texas surge, Nova's resume looks a little better. I think even if Nova loses that game, they are in, while a DePaul loss knocks them out for sure.

Be careful what you wish for. The Hoyas have to be ready for any team. I usually am afraid of playing cold, when the team you are playing has one under the belt, but I think these four days off will help us get ready. We just have to come out ready for anything.

Not a bad point, Nevada. Hoyas haven't had the bye since 2001 when they played like cow dung against a terrible, Terrible, TERRIBLE Seton Hall team. Worst experience at a game as a Gtown fan EVER because it was totally blind-siding. I'll never forget the well-dressed, mature-looking Seton Hall fan sitting in the corner behind me and just screaming obscenities down at the Gtown student section for the whole game. Ugh. Of course, they (with the help of Hampton) made up for it the next week. Reason No. 2423523 why its better to do well in the NCAA tournament than in the Big East tournament. I don't think that will happen this year b/c we're BET tested. And after writing that, I've realized something that suddenly makes me feel compelled to make an ANNOUNCEMENT: ANNOUNCEMENT: DePaul will have a lot harder time beating Nova on Wednesday than I and others to this point have realized, because no one has noted that they will be making their first trip to the BET after not qualifying last year. Don't underestimate the significance of this. The old C-USA teams went 0 for 3 in BET games last year, and Cincinnati and MU were higher seeded in their games (or maybe Cincy was a 9 to SUcks' 8, but still). USF of course still won't get their shot this year.

well that's a little unfair because marquette lost the 4v5 game and cinci lost the 8v9 game so not a real difference btw seeds and second this is way to small a sample to draw any conclusions.

Of course there are no guarantees. But its something to keep in mind. Nova has been through the routine over and over. DePaul never has. Its going to be weird playing in a half-empty Garden at noon on a Wednesday.

Spotlight will be on Reynolds as a frosh PG. He may be good, but remember how D. James looked on BET Thursday last year.

Predictions: Nova over Depaul, Uconn, over Cuse, WV over providence, and Marquette over St. Johns.

Isn't it nuts how EVERY SINGLE BET PREVIEW names Nova as the darkhorse to watch? How is it that we, the best team in the conference, have to contend with them right out of the gate!?
I don't have a problem saying that they're the team I fear more than any other in the tournament. I haven't allowed myself to think past Thursday yet, but if we get by that, I suppose I'll just expect us to win the whole thing from there.
Some moron online had filled out his predicted bracket and had ND beating us in the semis. I'm sorry, but there are so many millions of reasons why that will never happen.

Good to see SJU back in the tourney. Hamilton's injury really hurts their chance for an upset against Marquette, though.

Nova will lose to DePaul. Everyone is already talking about a rubber match between the Hoyas and Cats - and when everyone assumes something will happen at the BET, it usually doesn't. In any case, I'd love to see it work out so we get a shot at Syracuse again - that loss still hurts.

I'd rather see UConn beat the Orangeboys and make their fans sweat bullets for the next 4 days.

100% cheering for UConn in that one.
Cuse fan: "thanks for letting us into the Tourney" -Yeah, we'll see.

Hmmm. My hopes for a DePaul upset appear to be short lived. Maybe they can at least wear them out a bit.
