13 months ago duke losing to us was the frontpage on espn.com, now us losing makes the fron page. We've come along way since our losing season three years ago, and JTIII deserves nearly all the credit. We played a bad game, missed open shots, it was bound to happen. This game was not JTIII's fault.

Not gonna criticize the court rush. We rushed after we beat a ranked cuse team by double digits in '02. The security for the players... now that can be criticized. Tonight was a "hit the reset button on the playstation" kind of game. Must have been a computer glitch. Theres no way that a team this talented shoots THAT poorly. An aberration. Nuff said. I only wish Tyler had gotten his money's worth on his technical with Devendorf. Devendorf is the worst kind of punk. Did y'all catch the BS he was throwing Green's way just before the game got out of control? Green gets lots of credit from me for just ignoring the punk, but I would have preferred it if he chose to show him up on the court!

i guess the framed post article i have in the basement with roy being hosted by a sea of students on the court last year after a game was absurb too. Duke was #1 in the polls and on a something crazy win streak with a W at Gtown expected. A little different than beating your rival at #10. More importantly, what's absurb?

I hate Syracuse more than any other team in the country, but let's be honest, if it was G'town that was unranked and needed a win against a ranked Cuse team, and we won...every one of you would have been out on that court celebrating.

Syracuse won the NCAA Tourney 4 years ago. There is no excuse for a team with such recent success to storm the court, no matter how poor the current season is. Same applies to the Twerps of UMCP.

Or one may read it as that Esherick never did anything for us and that was our coming out game. Yes, in the grand scheme of things, probably was a knock on us, because its true, we hadn't been very good (until we hired III)

Normally I don't do this type of response-post, but seriously, ixer? It's not a "knock" on the Hoyas, it's a simple statement of fact. I can't believe you found a way to turn this one around.

For everyone who thinks this is the best rivalry we have and the best rivalry in the Big East, why would storming the court be a bad thing? This win over their biggest rival and a legit top 10 team puts them in the NCAAs. Remember that last year they had to play their way in at the BET. I hated every minute of this game and plan on buring my TiVo box just because the hard drive was contaminated with such a poor shooting/high turnover performance. But I won't criticize their fans for continuing to make this rivalry a great one.

Storming the court can mean so much but also so little. In this case, I think they were justified, or at least almost justified.
First thought upon seeing them storm: "Hey, we must be pretty good now."
I wouldn't like to bring a 16 game streak into the NCAA, even though I was pretty confident in this GU team's focus/consistency. I think from here on out we'll be ready for each opponent's best effort. If we aren't, we'll be knocked out of either the BET or NCAA.

ABSURD. can't wait to see these clowns again. I'm glad they stormed the court. It's a reflection of how far our program has come. Can you imagine opposing fans rushing the court after beating an Esherick-coached Georgetown team? Wouldn't happen, because we are a joke then. Under Coach Esherick, beating Georgetown meant nothing. It means something now. That's a credit to John Thompson III and the way he "resurrected the program," as Raff said last night. He will learn from this loss, he will adapt, and he will make sure we don't see any efforts like this next week.

Seriously, the senior leadership thing is kind of silly if you ask me. We have 3 guys who have started for 3 years and plenty of experience with Jessie from last year and Ewing from 2 years at Indiana.
They've played Cuse before with more on the line so it wasn't some shock.
Talent wins out...not leaning of the shoulders of seniors. Florida didn't need "senior leadership" to win the whole thing last year....or UNC before that. Talent and coaching wins out...
We have plenty of talent and we'll be fine. If you want senior leadership go over to the MVC or the CAA and enjoy...I'll take multiple 1st round draft picks anytime of the week.
Calm down people. It's just a loss against a desperate team. We're fine...

Devendorf is the easiest guy to hate on any opposing team in the country. The goofy look, the tats.....We will take these guys out in the BET. When absolutely no one on the team shoots well, this is bound to happen. We are alright.

See also: February 24, 2001 www.hoyasaxa.com/sports/archives/archive0201.htm#62A steal and dunk by Hunter capped the win with 0:38 to play, and Kevin Braswell dribbled out the last 32 seconds of the clock before students overwhelmed the MCI Center security to flood the court--the first such demonstration at a Big East home game ever for the Hoyas. Syracuse's Jim Boeheim didn't think much of the post-game revelry. "It used to mean something. "It don't mean (bleep) anymore," he told the Syracuse Post Standard. "I don't know what that's all about. I really don't." I said last night after the game that it was basically the reverse of what happened at MCI in 2001. They probably bought themselves an NCAA Tournament bid with this one.

A couple of thoughts on the court-storming: 1. Can you a-holes at least wait until the game is over? Fans were well inside the lines with between 2 and 3 seconds left in the game. 2. Someone came barreling on to the court (from the right) and ran straight into Jessie Sapp. Enjoy your win, celebrate with your team, but don't storm the court with the intention of running the opponent. 3. I'm really glad Syracuse felt so inferior that they needed to storm the court after beating us. We're back, big time.

We rushed the court after a win over Syracuse in my freshman or sophomore year - '94 or '95 (I can't remember exactly when). It wasn't a massive overwhelming of the court but I was definitely at center court with a lot of students after the game was over.
