-I and Fiancee of YB yelled all night, part of a 10 person GU section. Notice Cinci's FT pct. I yelled at them every time they shot in a quiet arena. Their student section, quite lively, chanted "Richard" at us at the end. Nice. Wow - first YB got Esh fired, now he's tightening up our Free Throw Percentage Defense. Great. Someone get this man a uniform!

I, for one, thank God every day that YB organized that "Fire Esh" Rally.

If YB is responsible for taking down Esh, then I, too, would like to laud his efforts and shower him with praise.

1. We are going to get pressed throughout the entire Tournament (Big Dance). 'Nova did it with success and 'Natti did it with a lot of success last night. What troubled me is the way we have handled it. We did a decent job against 'Nova, but last night was aweful. I fear that if we can't beat it within 5 seconds of inbounding the ball, it really takes us out of our offensive rhythm and we are forced to take what I would call questionable shots (which isn't the end of the world, it's just not a byproduct of our offense, and you can tell we're not as comfortable operating as such).
Sure, but that is easier said then done. Teams cant just turn on and off a good press because they are playing us. Nova matched up well with both games because they had a good matchup, zone press - it wasnt just tough full-court pressure. Cincinnati tried to throw that at us, but in the end, they just werent good enough to do it and we made adjustments. I suppose we'd have to be worried about a team that plays Villanova's style, but realistically, what are the odds that we'd play a team like that and that has time to prepare for us.

I trust the coaching staff to develop a plan for Roy to exploit other teams double and triple teaming him. Though I don't think Pitt will employ this approach, we should be ready for it. Now if, Aaron Gray plays, we should definitely go right after him to draw fouls.

I'm all about the positives now. I never yell anything negative at games, especially at opposing arenas. On our way out, a Cinci fan turned to me and my fiancee and said, "I think the captain of our ice hockey team wants to see you outside the arena". Trust me, worth the price of gold.
As for Esh.... I wasn't trying to get the guy fired, but if that was a side effect of what we did, I think we can all agree it turned out for the best for everyone.

six turnovers by Wallace is unacceptable. While he was a strong scoring presence tonight, he MUST take better care of the ball. He has always been the guard that is the least comfortable on our squad in breaking real pressure, and I don't know what the answer to that is...as smart a basketball player as he is, he tends to throw away 2-3 passes inexplicably. we cannot have 12+ turnovers against Pitt or we WILL lose. It felt to me like most of these turnovers were caused when cinci would jump trap him and then nobody would come to the ball so he could pass it. I still think he is our best ball handler even if he had several turnovers tonight.

If he does, he's gonna have to get in line behind all of Georgetown's female undergrad population and half of the male members of Hoya Blue. ;D Mmmmmmm...on a related note, I have two kids, Drew Jr. and Ray Jr., I'm looking to get rid of. If anybody wants to trade for Big East tickets or something, I guess send me a PM maybe. Or maybe the mods can create a separate thread for trading kids for tickets.

Either your wife's name is Drew or Ray, or you would more aptly be named MAHoya.

YB's not to blame for the signs - that's me. Leave him out of it.
I won't be at the UConn game, so allow me one last one for the Pitt game and you'll be free of me for a year.

Following the point about Roy's 17' jumper, I've seen every televised game this year and watched him attempt and make at least three, maybe four of these shots from the foul circle. I know the sample isn't large, but he seems to have a better than decent touch from this spot. It might be good to set Roy up to try a shot or two like this each game, when he comes out to play the high post. A couple of makes will certainly get defenses rethinking how to deal with him, and possibly open up other opportunities. Just a thought from a very infrequent poster.

and the appropriate move tonight since it seemed the defenders had taken away the passing lanes. Defenders is plural, there was only 1 guy back on D. Jesse got too deep and took away his own passing lanes.

jsapp is our best ballhandler - as evidenced by the fact that he is becoming the primary bringer up of the ball - or at least i have noticed him doing that more. six turnovers by Wallace is unacceptable. He hit one in the ODU game as well (not on TV). I honestly think he's only missed the jump shot once.
