Oh yeah, 2 more things-
-their cheerleafders were all dressed as naughty Catholic schoolgirls... that kind of blasphemy on Ash Weds likely cost them some points with the Big Guy...
-reffing was awful but even. lots of make-up calls...

Of course, this was perfectly acceptable to this big guy...

Hoyas came out very flat. I guess it's good we can win by 10 and look that bad. Bob Wenzel sucks. At one point, we're down 4 in the first, and he's saying Summers needs to have a big game if we're going to get back in it. How dare you talk about Bob Wenzel like that? ;D The man loves the Hoyas, and I swear he wants to have Jeff Green's baby. If he does, he's gonna have to get in line behind all of Georgetown's female undergrad population and half of the male members of Hoya Blue. ;D

I disagree. I think it's smart, and all a part of the game. Personally, I love tough attitudes and physical ballplayers.

Can we please talk a little more about the Broudus GREEN suit. That thing was unreal. I'm stunned that Morpheus allowed him to wear that on the court.
Loved it....and love the catholic school girl look...brilliant.

2. BIGGEST Play of the Game was when Cinn had just scored to get within single digits; ball gets stolen near half court; guy's going in for an "easy" layin; Then... Look! In the sky!! It's a bird; a plane... IT"S SUPER JEFF GREEN, coming in for the MONSTER BLOCK off the glass leading to two easy points for the Hoyas on the other end of the court!! HE IS POY BAR NONE!! It just seems that while teams can take Hibbert or someone else out of the game, JEFF can kill teams in so many ways, they are left to pray he just has a bad day or is his own worst enemy---and even THEN, the Hoyas made their biggest push to get back into the game while he sat on the bench for the last 6 minutes of the half (it seemed). Don't sell Roy short--that put back was in traffic after someone else missed a three. He misses it / allows them to get the board, who knows what happens. I'm not knocking what Jeff did at all (I assume I'm not the only one who saw that block coming) but Roy played a big part in finishing the sequence. So basically, what I'm saying is that that sequence was a perfect example of both of the co-BE POYs! ;D

"I think this is the hardest we've played in a while," head coach Mick Cronin said. "They're as hard a team to guard as anyone I've coached against because they can hurt you in so many ways."
This says it all about the Hoyas right now. This was a game that could have put some salve on their wounded season so they played like it was a championship game. The Hoyas were due for a let down b/c of the upcoming Pitt game and the Hoyas still won by 10 on the road.

FOTP, exactly!!! There should be a prohibition against certain color suits. What is next, Peach? Give the man some gold teeth and a derby hat and put him in Vegas this past weekend and people would think he was part of some players entourage.
I hope that was a bet that he lost.

I have to agree with 'williambraskyiii' - Wallace MUST take better care of the ball.

There HAS to be a story around that. NO way does he just wear that for the sake of wearing it. I mean I loved it and all and I kind of wish he just wore it for the heck of it.
Maybe the whole coaching staff could wear different bright suits for the BE Tourney! That would be awesome.

Give me some huge blue & grey pinstripes though so it sends a message but also has that 1920's gangster feel to it. The pastels have to go.

Ken Pom on the game. His theory is that most teams shoot two point jumpers very poorly. He backs out dunks, and layups/tipins to get the two point jumper percentage. Read the Wednesday(and Monday) blog for context, then click on the link for the game. We shot 7 - 14 on two point jumpers! www.kenpom.com/blog/

Two observations that trouble me, since everyone in the media and on this site seems to be glossing over the Hoyas and already putting us in the Final Four:
1. We are going to get pressed throughout the entire Tournament (Big Dance). 'Nova did it with success and 'Natti did it with a lot of success last night. What troubled me is the way we have handled it. We did a decent job against 'Nova, but last night was aweful. I fear that if we can't beat it within 5 seconds of inbounding the ball, it really takes us out of our offensive rhythm and we are forced to take what I would call questionable shots (which isn't the end of the world, it's just not a byproduct of our offense, and you can tell we're not as comfortable operating as such).
2. I feel like there have been times when Roy has worked hard to establish some position in the paint and he has been refused entry passes with the ball on the wing. I realize the double comes quickly to him, but it's still important that we get him to touch the ball. There were several times last night where he had position and we could have made an entry pass. He doesn't even need to make a move towards the basket necessarily, but just get a touch and kick out to guards to force the zone to react. He doesn't have to score off the entry pass, just get more touches and be a little more involved in the offense aside from taking up space in the middle.
3 & 4 (bonus): That was about as blatant a travel as you could get when Hibbert attacked the rim last night - what a terrible call. And does anyone else think Cronin is a poor man's Jeff Garcia?

I have noticed all year that Roy would get good position early in the shot clock, and the wing player would ignore him 98% of the time (no matter if it were Wallace, Sapp, Green, or Summers with the ball). It's so consistent, I have concluded that the coaching staff does not want the wing player to make the entry pass then and there. I don't understand it, but I'm sure there are a million things I don't understand about the best offense in the nation, that JT3 does.

I agree with 2 for the most part, but I think on more that one occasion that when Roy was in position for the entry pass, DaJuan had the ball and passed to a guard on the perimeter. I'm sure that had Wallace or Sapp had the ball on these occasions, then Roy would have gotten the ball. That said, the experience of the night showed that they were so #%*&*#& physical down low that even when he had the ball, he often passed it right back out (to devastating effect!). As for 4, absolutely.

I disagree. I think it's smart, and all a part of the game. Personally, I love tough attitudes and physical ballplayers. I agree - do whatever you can (within certain limits of course) to win the game. It is up to the refs to make sure that the physical stuff is under control and no one is getting hurt. I think the refs did a poor job of that with Roy. For the second game in a row, he was getting completely mauled. However, Roy has shown that he can make a big difference even when he is not getting the touches because of the double- and triple-teaming. Unfortunately, the frustration is (understandably) building though, and I fear that he will continue with silly fouls out of that frustration.
