I too was very impressed today with Fielder and Mack, thought Mack and Jayden played well together. Also Burks on defense, made his guy repeatedly give the ball up. Cooley exclusively coached the Blue team, which to me looked like the starters as of today: Mack, Epps, Sorber, Peavy, Burks. I was also impressed with the very specific teaching that Cooley was doing during drills pre-scrimmage. A fun day. With Julius recovering from something, I can definitely see Fielder starting on the bench to be used as needed since we would only be 2 deep at C to start.

The rumors are Julius was a load in practice, looked really really good in the few days he got to work.

Like hearing how the players are tight. Means they have bought into what the coaching staff is putting together.

Him getting stronger and more mobile is exactly what’s needed for the roster

I'm absolutely giddy about the Cu. Williams to Fielder to Ca. Williams 3 from the corner. It's perfect offense. I can't state enough how much I'd like to see a good chunk of the offense go thru the 5 spot this season. Not so giddy about the zero pass 3 possession by Epps in the next clip though.

That was a very nice sequence with fielder passing out when he was gonna be contested. I’m looking forward to looking like a real offense.

Epps' shot was a good one. If you come around a screen and the defense drops to allow you to set for a corner three, you take it. There's a reason he buried it. I know these were select possessions, but I'm more worried about a defender going under a lazy screen against a shooter. Nothing in those clips makes me excited to see the defense, I will tell you that.

We agree that the defense shown in the 2nd & 3rd clips were bad but in the clip where Mack hits the step back 3 I thought the D was good. Both Sorber & Cu. Williams were in place to contest Mack at the rim, and Sorber rotated quickly enough to prevent Ca. Williams from getting a shot up. It'd be great to see much longer clips of 5v5 practice.

While I posted the stats in the past, Epps' percentage on corner threes was significantly higher than all threes, yet if memory serves he only took 21 threes from the corner, and significantly more from everywhere else (at a much lower percentage). Of course, most guards shoot better from the corners because it's closer. With Mack playing point, hopefully we can set up more corner threes for Epps and the other guys who can shoot. That's one element that I think we did not have last year that we will have this year with Mack. Or, at least, I hope we will have that aspect of offense.

Epps efficiency was much higher last year playing off the ball. Unfortunately, Rowan wasn't the answer at PG. Mack seems like a huge upgrade.

The Hoyas were actually picked 8th last year. This year, I'm happy to not be 10th. Of course, I think we can challenge for 7th/8th, but that's because I'm deep in the throes of preseason Hoya delusion
