I have no idea how good Maryland is this year, but it is an ACC team (OK, OK, Big Ten), and we didn’t have Epps. Seems like a clear positive outcome to me.

Tweet should show now. Love the rebound numbers. The twitter handle referenced is Mack Great to see good rebound numbers for Burks. I have had hopes he will rebound well or at least aggressively, his defensive effort can carry over to an extent. Sidenote: Was Fielder also sitting, haven’t heard anything directly related to him

Ken Pom released his preseason rankings tonight. Georgetown 9th in BE. 7-13 conference record. 88th ranked overall. If we had that season I would be pleased. It would be a step forward with a very young team. kenpom.com/

Like the B12 last year, when a conference is liked by the computers, it tends to be a self fulfilling prophesy as you play one another and everything is a good win or a good loss. That said, no idea how he pieces these together given virtually no continuity in rosters year to year anymore. I’d have to think the prediction accuracy is much lower in this new transfer portal era.

True. And that includes any negative predictions for Georgetown. People are judging the Hoyas by a recency bias of the past few years or so, even though only two players return from last season’s squad.

It's hard to take scrimmages that seriously since they aren't a real game environment BUT I'd rather win a somewhat meaningless scrimmage than lose one. And it sounds like several of our guys had good individual performances. A lot of positives, potentially.

If Burks could be the Hoya’s mini-Dennis Rodman, that would be amazing. I have been told people around the program have been worried about rebounding. Burks getting 14 boards could be the biggest news of all.

So 8 we “should” win, 2 we “should” lose and one literal push w WVU and us ranked side by side. I still see 11-0.

So 8 we “should” win, 2 we “should” lose and one literal push w WVU and us ranked side by side. I still see 11-0. West Virginia and Syracuse are away. Still, the rest of the non-conference is so weak, that Pomeroy puts us at 9-2 non-conference, with every game about a 90% chance of winning except ND (57%), WVU (38%) and Syracuse (32%). The expected margin of victory against the creampuffs are all higher than 14 (though that's an average MOV). Though I'd love to steal one of these on the road, I'd be very happy if we don't have any real close calls this year against weaker teams. That'd be a big sign of progress.

Going to repeat this question in this thread because a) no one had any reply and b) this came up the next day: x.com/a_mont04/status/1845509485097341052Question: what role, if any, does/will Austin Montgomery play for the team this season? Is/Was he a walk-on? I remember him having a decent three-point shot last year, and he seems like a hard worker. From practice shots/photos, he looks like he's been keeping up with conditioning and is focused and intense in practice. Just wondering.

Montgomery played for only 17 minutes last year, 10 of which were in major blowouts to Marquette where Cam Bacote was not effective as a reserve guard. For him (or for that matter, any of the walk-ons) to see extended time, this suggests that the second line of Mulready and Caleb Williams is struggling. While we're at it, what became of Donovan Grant? Is he still at Georgetown? www.instagram.com/donnyfor3/

I believe he is a walk-on, at least according to the Recruiting scholarship thread. He had hardly any role last year. This year, our talent is much better. So, aside from garbage time and practice, he shouldn't be playing any meaningful minutes. It would be great to get a walk on who turns into the next Jon Wallace, but that's very unlikely to happen. If Montgomery sees real minutes, it likely means our team is doing very badly.
