I also believe that if Georgetown is going to schedule KenPom 300+ teams then one of them should be the Season Opener on Campus. Make it a special hyped game event. Maybe limit it to Students only, with all freshman getting in free. Set up Tents with grub and grog and Big Screen TVs for the best donors/season ticket holders.
But Georgetown's historical OOC scheduling is why i would never become a full season ticket holder and I cant see paying $100+ per seat/game to see most of the teams on the OOC schedule.

I get the frustration from season ticket holders that a home slate lacking any kind of quality OOC opponents isn't great for attendance purposes. But until we start beating inferior teams comfortably and decisively on a pretty consistent basis, I just can't get worked up over not putting together a more difficult schedule. The Maryland series is a step in the right direction for local rivalry purposes. I know Ed's not been here for all of it, but I'm sick and tired of not being able to figure out the likes of Holy Cross, American, Dartmouth, Navy, etc. every November and then reading the complaints about why we aren't scheduling harder opponents. Beat ALL the OOC teams you're supposed to beat, show a pulse in Big East play, and then let's talk about scheduling up. We are still a long way from arriving at a March where our SOS might hold us back from bigger goals. I agree with this. I live a few hours away so I haven't made it to as many games lately since we suck but I try and get to at least one. I saw both the loss to Dartmouth and TCU and I will say if we are competitive I much rather watch a game like the TCU game over the Dartmouth game even if we would have won against Dartmouth.

What is the difference between now and the JT3 era where a few times there were OOC games to open the season at McDonough? If it was possible then, why isn't it possible now? Also, I would add that in some ways the Monumental Sports cost is a sunk cost. So, absorb the cost, and run the game from McDonough. It might cost a little more, but at least there'd be a reason for students to go even if we play a horrible opponent.

It might cost a little more, but at least there'd be a reason for students to go even if we play a horrible opponent. 1. No inside information here, but it's likely Monumental had (and has) a right of first refusal on games that they are less tolerant of giving up now than then. With the changes in non-sporting events at arenas (e.g., fewer musical acts playing facilities this large anymore), Monumental would rather enforce the contract than leave the building empty. 2. It's not a sunk cost: the rent is on a per game basis with a contracted number of dates and every indication out there suggests it's an exorbitant cost relative to anywhere else not named "Madison Square Garden". Yes, if GU signed a new deal that mandated fewer home games this would address some of this, but lacking any direction on McDonough and the perceived competitive imbalance of playing more games on the road, they eat a significant portion of the budget cost just to play before announced crowds, so I don't think Ed Cooley is going to comment on this in any public forum.

Just bumping this...I see that Rutgers and VCI posted their OCC schedules today and I know unfortunately we often learn about the Gtown OCC through the releasing of other schedules...
Does anyone have a current list of OCC games for us that is confirmed so far??

Could be worse… (although not sure where the definition of scam comes from yet) Wonder what its track record is? Website not particularly enlightening. No names of "consultants" or employees etc. Claims ten years of "combined experience" but doesn't list ten years worth of past events, foreign tours, etc. President/Owner is Chris Williams, played DI basketball at Alabama A & M. VII might be a one man shop. The VII Group is a premier full-service, Black owned, sports event marketing firm. We specialize in a number of services such as: sporting events, sponsorship, philanthropy, foreign tours, and ticket promotion on the high school and college levels. With over 10 years of combined experience in being connected to premier events, The VII Group knows exactly what is needed to put on world class, white glove events, leaving no stone unturned. A VII Group event is an experience that will leave a lasting impression. theviigroup.net/

So maybe Williams got scammed by outsourcing for the flights. If not a subcontractor he has used before he should done his due diligence.

I'm hoping they include the McDonough game for a few select season ticket holders (me) and have us sit courtside. I should also get to run one timeout and call at least one set. With this schedule, are you telling me 8 total loser games to get to the ten BE regular season games? Rough!
