This is a good idea, especially for HS & prep kids, redshirting will be used frequently.

This is a good idea, especially for HS & prep kids, redshirting will be used frequently. 1) not every college/university can afford the additional scholarships, even before Title IX implications 1a) Especially those universities not part of the Power 4 1b) This tilts the talent pool towards the Power 4 schools 2) Most student athletes will not accept a Redshirt year with effective free agency 3) NIL potentially would allow some players to Redshirt

Right now, who would pay big NIL to a kid, then redshirt him only to risk him bolting to a higher bidder the next year without having him play a single minute?

Let's be honest, everything is tilted toward the P4 schools but that doesn't mean non P4 schools can't benefit. If you give an HS/prep kid with limited options(think 200 rank on down) the opportunity to RS, they're gonna take advantage of that opportunity. Lastly, I like it more for the players than the programs themselves, more kids will get chances but more importantly, this will help to prevent what happened to Malcom Wilson & Tim I. from occurring as often as it does in the current landscape.

I see this as a move for the P4 to make the non-p4 less and less competitive in the non-revenue sports by hoarding all talent with their TV contract largesse

You are hearing more and more about 2 year deals. Since NIL is essentially still the wild west, seems like a good strategy to lock a kid into a longer team deal with some options to leave early/pay a penalty, etc.

Making these types of announcements isn’t hard…

Making these types of announcements isn’t hard… No, but apparently for Georgetown it is. The lack of doing just rudimentary and basic things on social media is getting to be bizarre at this point.

Georgetown's open practice was never rescheduled last season.
Marquette is having one this evening and added a second scrimmage in October.

Pretty interesting, surprised at Miller's salary.
SHU will have to step up over the next few years for Holloway, even with a hometown discount he's very much underpaid.
