Xavier has a shot to be very good this season To quote the Queen, “if talk got any cheaper, they’d be selling Nike tongues instead of sneakers”

Bad with great talent is not a category any program wants to be a part of... Agreed. I think these things are likely highly skewed by recruiting rankings though, rather than actual talent, and we've had our fair share of decent recruits that do not live up to expectations. I also don't know what 10 year window they are using. The 2015 team was actually pretty good. And Ewing inherited some recruits who were decent; he also got guys like Aminu and Murray. In that sense, we had some talent on paper. But it never performed to that level. It's nonetheless interesting, though not really indicative of anything about our future given that the 10 year window there doesn't include much of Cooley time. Of course, Providence does not fare great on that chart, either.

Of course, Providence does not fare great on that chart, either. I'd assume they're using the 13-14 to the 23-24 seasons as the 10 year window. The graph is based on team recruiting rankings, not individual players. All the teams listed in the "elite" category have had players who didn't live up to "expectations" but the collective overcame that on the way to high wins. Any team in the great talent, bad results category has had a failure in coaching not talent in my opinion. Looks to me like PC did very well for itself, getting to 20 wins with borderline bad recruiting rankings is an achievement.

That's a dumb viz for lots of reasons.
It'd honestly be more fun to point out all the reasons it's silly than to use it as a catalyst for just another "man we really suck" discussion.

Cooley was ok with this while @ PC, why not bring it over to Gtown?
It's good for the players & just as important for Gtown it's good way to build a rapport with the media

Considering he coached a Iona after Louisville saying this is the most talent he’s had since Louisville isn’t as impressive.
