Cooley may have seriously miscalculated the challenge of rebuilding a program with 4 BE conference wins in three years. It's been relaxing not being on the recruiting roller coaster for the past several months, but I do feel sorry for the diehards of the program who did not take a break. With other programs able to pay large sums of NIL monies, the fact that the Hoyas can spend with the best does nothing to separate us from the pack when other schools can offer talented kids the opportunity to play in postseason and before crowded arenas, while Georgetown can offer neither at this time. Playing home games on days and times that are not conducive to attracting a crowd is not a good selling point. For next year, it seems that the Hoyas could still use another quality shooter in addition to the oft-mentioned center. But just recruiting a body in the post and possibly stifling the development of Sorber and Fielder makes no sense to me. I think that Cooley has done a fairly good job in the portal of recruiting potential, rather than proven players. Mack may be the exception but I would like to see how he fares in the BE first. Now, if Cooley is the coach we hope that he is, then he has to be able to develop the potential-- certainly more so than last year. Still hopeful but cautiously so. Peavy is a proven player too and a very good add. Would be nice to add another older proven player preferable at center but I don't see that happening. Maybe another experienced PF since there seems to be more of them still out there. Outside Mack and Epps we have good size so getting a true center may not be a death sentence if we can get another long experienced 4 that is good on D. You are right about Peavy. Was not checking in regularly when he came on board. He actually is more proven at the high major level than Mack.

At this point I have zero faith that the news about a " top '25" kid will be positive for us. That is because you have a losers mentality. If you look at our 2024 class there is no reason to expect Cooleys 2025 class not to be just as good. Wrong. It is because the source trumpeting Dain coming on board was wrong, so his subsequent teasing of a top '25 kid being imminent has no validity to me. I wasn't saying we won't possibly get big '25 recruits at all.

If this is actually true (which I would doubt, sounds more like an excuse than anything), why wouldn't we just outbid Memphis for the guy? It's not like we're paying a ton for our existing roster outside of Mack and Peavy. If we were willing to entertain Cliff O., there's no way we shouldn't be able to pay Dainja what he wanted.

Isn’t it possible that Dianja leveraged Georgetown to get more money from Memphis? Not sure what is BS about that. People do that all the time with employers.

Formal Hoya's post is b.s. excuse my language why is it BS? That is much more likely than the Memphis fan on Twitter who is taking credit for Dianja staying by alerting Memphis after he poes that DD decommitting from Memphis and looking at Georgetown, DD responded directly to the post, called the guy a clown and said he was staying? Whose lips are you saying were too lose “blue and greys”? Lee Reeds? Cooley? Everyone in the TAC? x.com/willgtg901/status/1790512719977681019?s=46&t=Y72mV5wN_pS-Z5twpxmo2w

It's a bad look to publically negotiate with a player who isn't technically on the open market, kind of surprising the staff allowed it to happen.

In the era of NIL when is a player in the portal ever truly committed? I assume there is no equivalent of a NLI for a player in the transfer portal?

There is but it's not hard for a kid to ask to be released. The easy rule of thumb should be if a kid has announced, they're committed.

So if it's a lost cause, why go targeting a kid committed to Memphis? Wouldn't it be wiser to spend your time and resources elsewhere?
