Oh well, hopefully Cooley have other options available. I don't blame the young man, with the recent offers he has been getting. I would think this is not a shock to the staff at this point. They seemed to be in pretty regular contact with him for a while so they must have know where he was leaning. It is probably a little too late on the other local Lewis kid (Nik) also, as he seems to have some other solid offers and visits set up. Hopefully they can find another promising point guard in that class and build that relationship. The program needs to have a much better year this year, if they want to attract some of these high level local kids in the future.

Don't think we can point to the TTO/Durant dynamic as a reason when Cuse made the list and they also have an assistant who is strongly Takeover-aligned. My intuition is that Acaden and family liked Cooley a lot and our staff pursued him hard, but the results we've delivered and general state of our program over the last several years just isn't enticing to a kid with as many options as Lewis. If this were a few years from now and we had things turned around and were at least a competitive team it might have gone a different way. But as is, pretty tough to seriously consider Georgetown when you have offers from UConn, Duke, UNC, Kentucky, etc. It's the same reason why we've struggled to land a good center in the portal two years in a row. It's not that our staff is failing to prioritize good players, not working hard enough on the trail, not likable enough guys, or dramatically outgunned on NIL. It's really just that our programs reputation is terrible at the moment and kids with a lot of options aren't going to pick us and hope we get it together--they're going to go with a sure thing.
Anyway I'm sure our staff will keep his number in their phones, and if in a couple of years things are looking rosier on the hilltop and he's a little dissatisfied with where he ends up (perhaps sitting behind some one-and-done AA type at Duke or Kentucky) we will give him a call.
With Mack in the fold and Mulready potentially being a point guard too, we may not need desperately need a true PG in 2025, a combo might be alright. Not sure if we're too late on Nyk Lewis, my guess is probably yes. McKenny still probably the top guy on our board. Stevens from Bullis and Witherspoon from St. Johns are two locals to keep an eye on too. We'll be alright.

Certainly disappointing but not unexpected. Worth reading the full twitter / X posts: Thread from Acaden Lewis' father. Open to see its entirety

This shines a bright light on things. I think we all knew McDonough was broken and maybe Ed didn't realize how much needed to be fixed.

Has nothing to do with TTO/TD, which isn't even a thing.
It is an indictment when Michigan makes his final list and Georgetown does not.

I'm a bit disappointed that even with all the praise from Acaden's father, they didn't throw Cooley a bone by including him on the final list. I guess they didnt want to sully Acaden's name with a (currently) sub-par program.

(At least that's what I'd like to think in my less cynical moments).

You can do that in private while still having us included in a final-9 list (which is ridiculous anyway)

Regardless of his motives, the whole thing was bizarre.

I guess they didnt want to sully Acaden's name with a (currently) sub-par program. I think he's legitimately considering all of those programs. He told Ed he wasn't coming. If Ed really cared, I'm sure he could've gotten onto the final 9 or whatever as a favor.

I don't know I do know that it feels like Ed knew for a little bit because he suddenly switched attention to the Bullis kid.
